Heya folks.

First off lemme start by saying hey! I've been a lurker for awhile and have decided its bought time i went ahead and actually joined. and i would post this in the DYI juice sub but the the 5 post req sooooooooo

Now to the point im looking to get into making my own juice but am a little bit lost on exactly where to start. I understand what general ingredients i need but to be honest there is just a bit to much variety for me to choose from.

ATM i like my juice around 70 vg / 30 pg and will probably aim for a bought 6mg nic / per ml
if possable could someone give me a shopping list? :?:
Im just not sure what Nic i should order
or how much of each base
or whether the nic already has a base id have to take into account.
or really what im talking about haha, Ive skimmed the DIY sub and havnt really found the exact answers im looking for so figured id go ahead and give it a shot. ANYWHOS
thanks if ya made it this far though my butchering of the English language and thanks for being a part of the wealth of info on this forum!!!

Hi KSbull and welcome aboard!

This might help:
For a juice mixing calculator consider using eJuiceMeUp

My first DIY shopping cart consisted of the following (and I only needed more bottles, VG after a few months, and flavors simply because I didn't choose very well to begin with)

Software:
250 ml 100mg/ml 100% VG nicotine
250 ml VG
250 ml PG
flavors

Hardware:
1 ml syringe (x3)
5 ml syringe (x3)
10 ml syringe (x3)

14ga luer lock needle (x3) (need at most 14ga to deal with thick VG)
16 or 18ga luer lock needle (x3, doesn't really matter, it's just nice to use a smaller needle for PG/flavors)

30ml Cobalt Blue bottle w/ Dropper cap (x5)

More bottles are always a good thing, and flavors... those are up to you! I use all TFA flavors, and followed Bill's Magic Vapor's advice more than anything else, to get me started: Buy creams, vanillas, TFA cotton candy and sweetener, and whatever 'base' flavors you're interested in!

It was definitely a hefty bill up front, but I know for a fact that it's paid for itself by now, probably several times over. I haven't bought any more hardware besides a few bottles.

I bought everything from Wizard Labs, to get free shipping (and for convenience purposes).

ETA: Oh, I meant to add: 100% VG nic is important if you're going for 70% VG (my mixes use anywhere from 20-30% flavoring, leaving no room for PG nic in some cases). And 100mg/ml just makes calculations as easy as possible; 0.6ml nicotine for each 10ml of liquid you want to make in order to get 6mg/ml, easy as that.

This is essentially exactly what I was asking for haha, appreciate the quick and detailed response.
Got any personal recomendations on specific flavors you like to use all the time.

Hmm... well, I love fruit flavors most, and rarely use much else.

If I were picking a top 10 list of 'helper' flavors (all TFA, the only thing I'm familiar with!), it would be:

Cotton Candy
Sweetener (one of these two in everything I make)

Sweet Cream
Bavarian Cream
Whipped Cream (at least one of these show up 90% of the time)

Vanilla Swirl
Vanilla Custard
Vanilla Cupcake (ditto here)

Strawberry (not labeled with (ripe))
Raspberry (not labelled with (sweet), although (sweet) is helpful too)

The two fruits tend to help reduce perfume tastes that can happen with things like Grape Candy, for example. Everything above has worked well and been used very often with fruit mixes. But if you want to venture into chocolates with TFA flavors, grab 'em all; TFA flavors benefit from using lots (3 - 7) of flavors in a single mix, not just 1 or 2.

The above, plus some primaries of whatever flavors you like, should be a very good start.

Here's a good reference, Bill's post on recipe 'templates' using TFA. My first good flavor order grabbed everything listed on that page, and things really started to go my way :)

Here's his blog entry that's just a huge collection of his recipes. If you see something that interests you, grab the flavors! A lot of his recipes are very popular, and all are well-received, in general.

Here's an expanded list of basic flavors he uses all the time, and here's a slightly smaller list that overlaps a lot with what I listed above, plus a few extras.

The TFA thread in the DIY forum is extremely popular, which is why I chose TFA to begin with; there's almost always someone who can give you a hand with what you're working on!

I know it's a lot to take in, but DIY can be tricky at first. Following the blog entries above is what let me start making very good juice, rather than just OK stuff. Good luck, and keep asking questions!

ETA: Oh, and with what I listed, you can make 2/3 of the recipes listed in my signature, all strawberry-based. With one additional flavor (Vanilla Bean Ice Cream), you can make the 3rd too!
