Choosing not to buy from a company who allegedly ignores a cease and desist is certainly your prerogative.Personally, I wouldn't buy from a company who would ignore a cease and desist when there are other batteries on the market which are just as good if not better.. why not do what Liion did and explain to your customers and show the test results of the comparable batteries available to people? makes no sense not to be above board in this case.
However, Sony has allegedly been handing out these cease and desist letters for a couple of years now, and no real legal action has come about to my knowledge. Some suppliers will continue to supply their customers with what they want as long as they have a source. And I seriously doubt that Sony will take any legal action since they have already made the decision to sell out to Murata.
We'll have to wait and see if Murata changes the name of these batteries from Sony to Murata, and what policy they adopt when selling to suppliers. When Imren bought out MNKE, they greatly exaggerated the specs of their batteries, so we'll also have to check that out, too.
I happen to agree with you that there are now other batteries on the market which are just as good if not better than Sony.
