Hi there,

Finally managed to pick up the topbox nano, and was wondering if some more experienced users might be able to give me a hand.

Now it's come with a 0.15 Ohm Coil, a 1.5 Ohm Coil and a claption 0.5 Coil.

What I've done is put the battery in, put a little bit of e-liquid into the top and set the watts at 30, using the 0.15 Ohm coil. However I'm getting a tiny bit of leaking liquid and the mouth piece becomes really hot, even using it just once or twice. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or need to change?

Thanks in advance

The 0.15Ω coil that came with your kit is a Nickel coil. It can only be run in temperature control mode.

The other two coils can only be run in Power (i.e. wattage) mode.

Additional information on the SSOCC heads.
  • Pink O-Ring -- Stainless Steel wire. Power or SS TC mode, your choice.
  • Blue O-Ring -- Nickel wire. Ni TC mode ONLY.
  • Black O-Ring -- "Clapton" coil. Probably Kanthal, Power Mode ONLY.
  • Red O-Ring -- NiChrome wire. Power Mode only. Made to use with the NiCh TC mode on the brand new Kanger TC mods. Doesn't actually TC according to reports. More work needed, we'll see. No other mods can TC it (TCR 0011ish... doesn't work).

what he/she said, 0.15 ohm is ni200 (you can see the marking on the coil if you take it out again), this needs to be run under temperature mode. check your manual to see how to switch from Wattage mode to Temperature mode.

Enjoy your gear!

[edit] didn't notice member's name, sorry! :)

Like Susan said, the .15Ω head should only be used in temp control mode.

What do you mean by " put a little bit of e-liquid into the top "?

You need to thoroughly prime new/unused heads before use, then fill tank allow to sit for a few minutes, then take a few un powered primer puffs to ensure it is wicking.
Start off at a low power & gradually work you're way up to find what works best for you.

Yes, make sure you prime/wick the coils nicely. Make sure the cotton material is fully saturated with your eliquid and then make sure you take some low temperature (or low wattage if you're in power mode) pulls before you go all out on them. Even then you might need 1/4 to 1/3 of a tank for the coils to be fully broken in.

aah understood, thank you guys - by a little bit of liquid I meant that I'd only put a small amount of liquid into the tank

Did you properly prime the head / 'coil' before pressing the fire button? you need to saturate the wicking material by dripping drops of liquid directly on the wicking material. could take as many as 8 -12 drops.
If not the wicking material is most likely scorched / burned.
After they scorch / burn they can't be fixed, you'll need to thoroughly prime & install a new head.

The .15Ω must be used in temp control mode.
Are you using the appropriate temp control mode for the head/'coil' you're using?
If not stop using it until you read the instruction manual & understand how to use the power devices menu.
Have you tried lowering the wattage and or temperature settings?

RTFM!

The guy at the Vape Store wanted to open and set me all up when I made the purchase of my first MOD! I refused and went home trying to read the tiny print but Downloaded the manuals in PDF files so I could thoroughly read them entirely!

Well I've switched it over to the temperature control mode with Ni in the corner, and reduced the temp - as well as wattage in case that made a difference and I think that may have done it, thank you!

will get my magnifying glass out and have a read of this little manual

Find the PDF on the manufacturers website and you will be able to read it or magnify it on the PC. :2c::2c:
