Lots of info here and have been reading for a few days. I've decided this is the route for me but can always use more advice.

I'm a 1 1/2 pack a day smoker and thinking about going with the SmokeStick. I know this may not be the best model from reading a lot of posts in here but haven't really seen anything bad about it.

Maybe it is vanity but I really like the fact that it looks like a real cig and think that will help me make an easier switch over to vaping completely. I want convenience as well and just don't know if juicing all the time is for me, not looking for a new hoby, just want to quit smoking and move to vaping.

So any advice would be greatly appreciated on brands/models that would fit the bill.

If you smoke 1 1/2 packs a day you will need the EGO, just for the battery life. The minis are not going to cut it for you.
You are going to have to get over the 'looks like a cigarette part', sorry. If funds allow, do the smokestick, you'll be purchasing the Ego in due time.
You can get cartomizers for the Ego which make it just convenient as the smokestick.
Take a bit more time and continue to do due diligence in your research. I do hope you ask more questions and get more answers to help in your research!
Oh, welcome to the ECF, where we all have our own opinions! LOL

I agree the eGo/rivas are the goto pv's for many and many, like myself, end up going that route. However, some people just need it quick and simple. I would recommend vapor for life because they have prefilled cartos for their pv's.

Another option is the 510, but going with any pv that resembles an analog is more of a hassle because of the battery life.

My final recommendation, based on your needs is the joye 510 with cartomizers. There is some hassle, filling the cartomizers, but the condom method is very easy and you would only have to do it once at day if you filled 5 or 6 cartos up at once, would not take more than a few minutes and you would be set for the day as far as cartos go. You will have to change batteries frequently if you go for a more traditional looking PV that is meant to resemble an analog.

Of course that recommendation is based on what you stated your preferences are. For the least fuss it would be a ego/riva with carts.

Thanks HzG8rGrl, I know that I should get over the 'looks like a cigarette part' but I'm just being honest. I really would like to only make one purchase for now and want to try and get the best model for me. Convincing the wife that this was a good idea has been hard enough without me buying different devices because I couldn't get it right the first time. LOL I do appreciate the advice and will check out the EGO. Have a co-worker who uses a Joye510 and it looks ok and he seems to be pleased with it. Also the use of a PCC seems interesting as well.

In that case,,,,,I retract my previous statement.
Go with the ego or a riva! If you buy one purely for aesthetics and are happy with it, you will want to upgrade so you're not fiddling with batteries all the time. I've been there, and just had to have the pretty green 510, and though I still love it, it's not being used and won't be in any foreseeable future unless some catastrophe happens to my riva or ego.

If you want a PV model that is something you can be comfortable with and won't have to think about making another purchase anytime soon the go ego. Ego kit, cartos, drip tip, extra battery (or the ego passthrough that can also be used as a battery) and plenty of juice (at least 30ml in samples for the first two weeks, I would say 60ml, but you want to order samples at first so you can find a juice you like and then invest in a juice you know you like). That way you won't have to make another purchase any time soon. The wife will see it works and you won't have to work so hard to convince her in the futrure when she sees the health benefits and money you're saving on analogs.

No need for a charging case when you purchase the Ego. Two Ego batteries will last you all day and then some. Once the batteries start to lose the chargability 2-4 months, I'm guessing----You purchase a replacement battery at 900mAh or higher. I use a variety of pv's (mods) and my ego's are for back up.
This is why I cannot give you the lifespan of an Ego battery.
The 180 and 260 mAh batteries of the starter kits will get you 2 hours up front and dwindle down in vaping hours to vaping minutes within a month. Just trying to give good advice. YMMV= Your mileage may vary.
Be sure to keep your threads clean. And have a charging source on hand at all times when using the 'looks like a cigarette' also known as mini's.
Do your research, no hurry.

The 180 and 260 mAh batteries you are talking about, those aren't with the Ego are they? What is your impression of the kr808s?

As for no hurry, I'm chomping at the bit to get off analogs so I'm cramming for info like it was college finals, and that was a long time ago! LOL

Well, until this comment I was going to recommend you wait until Liberty Flights was back in stock with the riva or egos, because it currently is the best deal out there. The egos are 650mah, the rivas 750mah. $30 for a riva and I think it was $40 for an ego. I have a feeling they will have a rush on their hands when they get them back in stock.

For deals now...
Liberty Flights eGo kit for $52 with the 20% off and they have alot of the accessories reasonably priced as well. To get the 20% prices you must click the 20% flag in the upper left corner. http://www.liberty-flights.com/product.asp?id=40
Cignot $59- it says for 2 complete egos, but this kit is a standard kit from most vendors.
litcigusa $55 Joye eGo Starter Kit | Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit | E Cig Kit at LiteCigUSA - also sells Hello016 kits with 1600mah batteries, quite a deal, but also out of stock and you still would need an extra battery just in case.

Health Cabin is great too, but a china supplier so you have to pay extra in shipping. That is where I made my 510 purchase, I love them, but I can't do the shipping.

I hope if anyone knows of better prices they can post them.
I strongly suggest getting an extra battery.

Liberty Flights also sells the PCC for the ego for $32 http://www.liberty-flights.com/product.asp?id=70
However, with the ego it would be better to just get a couple extra batteries or the 900mah rather the PCC, but that's your preference. If you are worried about being out and about it would probably be more simple to get an extra charger and a usb car charge adapter than invest in a PCC

I was a 1.5 packs/day lights smoker and I switched to a cigarette look/size PV. I know I've only been vaping for 6 days but I haven't had a single cigarette since I started. I got a M402 manual 2-battery starter kit plus a PCC, spare atty, spare carts plus some juice and cart stuffing. M4xx models have small carts you have to top off often but I can do that at home and at work. Unlike many analog-look PV's, the batteries are decent and the PCC recharges them for me during the day and whenever I'm away from home. I get hours off a battery the way I vape which is about every 15 min for about 5-6 puffs.

I think it depends on how you smoke. If you were smoking full strength cigarettes sucking hard at 1.5 packs then your needs are different from mine. I was a slow smoker of lights. Sure I many eventually end up with a 510 or Ego but for now I'm fine with what I got.

In any case, I suggest you read/watch all of the sticky threads at the top of the New members forum. Especially that Library one - some great illustrated guides in there to help you choose your first.

Epic Journey
kellogg, where do you recommend purchasing the kr808?

Sainted, same question to you on the ego?

Since you live in Knoxville, you could purchase from PureSmoker, they are in Nashville. You'll have to pay the sales tax but you will get your package the next day. They carry kr808 and have great prices on the Ego.

Btw, I really suggest getting the Ego. I tried some of those analog looking ecigs back in January and they are a joke IMO. They just don't seem to provide the kind of satisfaction you'll need to not crave analogs anymore. The first day I got my Ego is the last day I ever smoked. You will want something that works every time, that's reliable, and has a great battery life. Ego covers it all. You can also get some cartomizers from Ikenvape and you are set. Hope this helps.

The Kr808 are a bit better than the minis, not by much though. I do think the batteries have a great life when not over used. MistressNomad has a few good videos of those and makes some good points. You can watch them here:YouTube - mistressnomad

I did take a pick of some of the different models I own, you can see those here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...873-small-ish-mechanical-mod.html#post2147154

HTH (Hope this helps).

The EGO would prob be your best investment as it has much better battery life than the 510 or kr808 plus it's still relatively small in size and Janty.com does sell a PCC for the EGO also another plus with the EGO is the battery is big enough to use LR(low resistance) atomizers which will simulate a high voltage vape(warmer, more throat hit and vapor). I started with an EGO myself, unfortunately I vape like a madman and found I still was charging my batteries way to often lol, so I invested in my GG. I only used my EGO for 2 weeks :p
I would consider selling it to you if your interested (as I don't use it now and could help me ofset the small fortune I've invested into my mod (GG) lol. send me a PM if you'd like.

I'll chime in here. IF you want to go with a mini because you want the look and feel of a cigarette, then the best one by far is the SmokeStik. I realize the eGo is the most popular device. That's because after a while recharging batteries all of the time gets tiresome and the "cigarette look" becomes less important. But you want to do what is going to help you succeed. So if the look and feel is important than stick to that. If it's not, then go with the eGo. I don't use an eGo... only because I'm a light vaper and really don't need it. I will say, I only recently had an opportunity to hold an eGo in my hand and I was surprised at how small it is and how good it felt in my hand. BUT if you want the look, size and feel of a cigarette, then go with the SS. It is the only "advertised" brand I would use. Their quality is top notch.

Re: the SmokeStik vs the 510 and 808. I have all three. Two are automatics and the 510 is a manual. The SmokeStik with it's amazing cartomizers puts out more flavor and more vapor than either of the others. In my opinion the draw on the SS is perfect. Not too airy but not too hard either. The SmokeStik only comes in two flavors, tobacco and menthol ... (they're pretty good) but you can refill with any juice you want. If you don't like the SS flavors, you can rinse the cartos and they still work great.

Another great thing about SmokeStik is their batteries. They are not made for dripping because they are automatics but they are high quality and have a true vacuum switch as opposed to a vibration switch in most others. They are very dependable AND they are guaranteed for life if you continue to purchase supplies from them. $50/ 6 weeks is really easy to do.

Finally, their customer service is amazing. Very responsive and attentive. You can't go wrong.

Save the money you would spend on cigarettes.... really!!! because eventually you are probably going to want to venture out into other styles. And when that happens, you can show your wife that all the money you need is in your sock drawer. :)
