Hi, all

I'm Lori, and a long-time smoker, new vaper.

I have an allergy to glycerin, but can get away with a small amount in e-liquid. I invested a goodly sum of money in my starting order, as a committment to vaping, and included some 100% PG, 0 nicotine. The supplier I used isn't registered here, so I'll not name them, but I have no complaints about them. Their standard mix is 30% VG, and I diluted a 24mg nicotine strength 50/50 with the PG.

The result of 12mg nic was too low, and the 15% VG was too much. I noticed that puffing on the e-cig (a 510 simple e-cig) was bringing e-liquid through the mouthpiece, but I figured that was my inexperience and over-filling. But, I am having this problem with 3 different batteries, 2 atomizers and cartridges (I bought a new supply of cartridges), a cartomizer and a clearomizer. I ordered e-liquid from a new supplier and the same problem.

I am thinking the problem could be that 85% or more PG is too thin, but since I need to use less than 15% VG, I am stuck. I expect there are sub-forums here where I should pose my question, and I will, after I've qualified with 5 posts here. But maybe someone reading this can help.

Would a "dual-coil" unit, like the Kanger, vapourize more of the e-liquid and eliminate liquid coming through the top hole? I want as close to a regular cig as I can get, like many before me, so I can continue to "almost smoke" ... I'm alternating e-cigs and reg cigs at the moment, and will gradually switch to 100% e-cig. I'm vaping through a tissue, to keep the stuff off my lips and still be able to vape. I've diluted the e-liquid enough that the VG is not a problem, although I intend to continue mixing old with new until the old is gone, and I can vape 100% PG ... if I can just solve this problem.

Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Lori

To edyle and Dwspraci:

I found at my original supplier a "CE4 v2.0" The description says it is identical to something called the Stardust. It does not say anything about coils, top or bottom. I'll ask them, if this sounds to you two like what you are suggesting. I can purchase an adaptor ... 510 to EGO that would allow me to use it on my 510 batters, of which I have 3, and hope not to have to waste.

Thanks!

Hi, edyle

I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you mean the e-cig? If so, it is a 510 Starter kit, 2 complete e-cigs (battery , atomizer, cartridge). I bought an extra batter, and since bought some cartomizers and new cartridges.

If you meant something else, I'll answer that, too :)

Lori

a picture is worth a thousand words.

sounds like a cigalike

Thank you, edyle! That looks like the one I found. I'll write to the supplier (I already have a detailed email in to them about the problem I am having) and ask them if they think it will solve the issue. With luck, it will ... and I might be able to return the bunch of cartomizers and cartridges I just bought, replacing them with this. In any event, I will try one of these units.

I'll report on how I do with it.

OK ... wasn't sure I could link to an external commercial site.

This is the unit I bought:
510 Starter Kit

The batteries are manual.

Here are the cartridges:
510/EGO/T-REX Empty Cartridges (5-pack)

And here are the cartomizers:
510 cartomizer

This is their CE4:
CE4 Clearomizer - V2.0

Lori

Ok; those 510 type starter kits are pretty decent kits I suppose, in that they're usually helpfull getting people off the cigs; but cost wise they tend to be expensive;
plus they use a material inside the cartomizer/cartridge which if you have allergy issues, might also be a potential issue.

the regular clearomizer type tanks use a silica wick, and you can see the liquid in the tank, so you know if it needs more liquid or not.

The important thing right now is to find a system which you can go with as a replacement for the cigs; the choice of liquids become a high priority; I suggest you try out some unflavored; it's good that you already have some pg.

Kanger T-4 are 510 sized, top coil clearomizers.
Kanger also has an "E-smart" line of 510/Stick sized top coil clearomizers.

Either will provide a warm, full vape and no liquid in your mouth.

As with many new users, a cig style appeals to what we are familiar with, however battery life, durability and ultimately compatibility are compromised.
If you are determined to use a "cig-a-like", the Esmart system or the Joytech Eroll will be superior to the 510 stick kit from 2009.

Cheers
I

Thanks for the Canada Forum link, edyle. I hadn't known about it. I did find the supplier list on here, and used the Canadian suppliers section to find ejuiceejuice from which I have bought VG-free eliquid. He sells some Canadian style flavours, and a Virginia flue cured flavour (I bought small-sizes of each, along with some PG with nic, all of which I like and have up with a blend that tastes right to me, so ordered more in large size. I do need the cig-like aspect at this time. I have small hands, plus decades of smoking habit, so at least to start I feel my best chance of success is to approximate smoking as I know it, as far as possible.

I checked out the Cap't's K2 suggestion on Kanger's site, and the pic looks like the CE4 pic you displayed, so you all are recommending the same thing - a clearomizer. It looks small enough to work for me. I have written Kanger to get their opinion on using it with all PG. I haven't yet checked out Izan's Kanger suggestions, and will do so now.

I am so grateful for all the help I've gotten on this issue. I had been almost despairing, but resigned to vaping through tissue if that is what it took.

I normally recommend glass tanks; the miniprotank2v2; but it's a bottom coil tank.
'

the only topcoil tank that i know of is the smok vivi nova.

The plastic tanks are cheaper; good for getting your feet wet and figureing out whether you prefer topcoil or bottom coil.

One of the most popular plastic bottom coil tanks is the EVOD; it has a metal jacket over it, and it uses compatible replacement coil heads as the protanks.

With tanks, a major consideration is the replacement coil heads.
They can usually be rebuilt or rewicked or just cleaned/soaked to extend useful life.

Hi, all

Turns out my problem was "simple" ... the batteries in my starter kit were almost dead on arrival. As a new vaper, I had no idea what a normal vape was like, After trying a number of things, I hit on direct dripping ... and that's when I could see that two of my 3 batteries hardly ever fired. This was a new kit. After all the help I received here, and recommendations, I realized I had bought a "clone".

I have no problem with clones, when I know enough to judge them. In this case, I didn't even realize I HAD a clone until I came here. I went looking for a replacement starting kit, and ended up buying two, from two different suppliers. One is sitting in the post office, but the other came to my door, and I am now one happy vaper!

What a difference it makes when it actually works. This one is a KangerTech EMUS. Right off the charger, great vapour, no problems, NO liquid in my mouth. For the first few weeks, on the bad kit, I hardly reduced my smoking at all. Three days with this new unit, and my smoking is down by 90%!

Thanks so much for all your help!

Lori
