New member, just wanted a little feedback

Hey, I have had the idea that I am going to quit smoking on my birthday now for a couple weeks (although the idea has been in my mind for a while, I didn't want to confront it) and so I've been researching a bit about making a switch to vaping. I've tried the e-cigs that you can get at the gas station and they suck, then i tried my friends e-cig with a little tank and angled mouthpiece and I really liked it, whole different ballgame. I know its not going to be the same as actually smoking, but im committed to making the switch and replacing the habit with vaping. This is what im thinking so far, and I'd like some feedback from experienced users if possible.

I decided I would like to get a mod first off, for a couple reasons. I like the fact that you can buy different parts for it and basically build yourself a custom ecig. I also have read that the performance and durability of the mods are far superior, which is obviously a plus. My reasoning for going straight for the mods is that I need to be able to "get into" the thing if im gonna stick with it. I want to enjoy using it so that I stick with it. So, why not go with what is going to give me a taste, no pun intended, of what vaping really has to offer.

So, this is what I have sitting in my shopping cart on vapor alley, let me know what ya think:

-eFest IMR18650 Flat Top (single)
-
eFest IMR18350 Flat Top (2pc)

- TrustFire TR-001 Charger

- Kanger ProTank

I got the two setups of batteries that the vamo can operate with so I can have backups and be able to shorten it if I want to. I had initially put two kanger K3's in there but if I understand correctly those are more disposable as opposed to the protank? That's how I understood it, and two of the K3's was half the price of the protank already. I added two 10ml bottles of liquid in there (blackberry and mtn dew) to try but may add a couple more so I have enough for a little bit. I'm pretty sure I can get e-liquid locally (st pete fl) so more than anything I want to make sure I'm good to go on everything else for a while before I complete my order.

I'm pretty sure I've covered all my bases on all the components I need, what I don't really know is how long everything is going to last me. Another important question I had was regarding the fitting of the protank onto the vamo, I have read that I might need a spacer or adapter, but it wasn't very clear. Can anyone tell me for sure, who has the most recent version of the Vamo, if the protank will fit on there as-is or if I need to purchase an adapter with my order?

Sorry if this is longwinded, im kind of excited and my birthday is Sunday so I'm trying to get this all figured out today if possible. Any suggestions, comments, advice is welcomed. My order isn't set in stone yet but this is what I've got picked out based on product reviews, price, etc. so please, lay it on me :D

First off -- Happy-soon-to-be-birthday, and Welcome to ECF!

One thing I would recommend is: buy some cheapo disposable ecig-alikes NOW, to break the habit and get used to ecig properties before committing to a VAMO or any other larger set-up. Some people don't like it, especially for longer periods of time. Gives you time to put those cigarettes to bed.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker. The place where I worked sold FINs. On a lark, I decided to try one to see if a possibility existed that they could help me quit. Even ecig a likes are a bit cheaper than tobacco as taxed these days. My throat burned, but there was vapor and the flavor wasn't bad. Only after trying several of the disposables did I make a decision to give it a go.

Before the end of the first week, I was online and searching for better... but I was off cigarettes.

Sure, order the VAMO. But grab some disposables to break the stinky habit before your birthday.

Just so you know fasttech has an amazing deal on the vamo right now. You can buy a whole kit including batteries and charger for like 40 bucks. They have free shipping and with the coupon code 10off you get 5% off your order. They sell the best batteries at the cheapest prices also. The panasonic ncr18650pd batteries are 2 for 15 dollars and they come in a nice plastic case. Second best are the panasonic cgr18650ch which are 10 bucks for 2 and they have a vamo kit that comes with those batteries. They have nitecore I2 and I4 chargers for 14 and 19 dollars respectively. I have placed many orders from them and they are a great vendor. They are in hong kong and with free shipping it takes 7-10 days on average for me to receive my orders from them in chicago.

I seen you were looking at Kanger T3s up in your post. The protank is a very nice tank, but you will need more attachments eventually. The T3s are not disposable per-say, just like the protank, the heating element assembly is the really only disposable part in the T3, though if you are little technically savvy with small electrical parts, both types of coils can be rebuilt. Just remember, you'll need backups for your backups for vaping. Vamo is a rock-solid system, coupled with that protank it is a great first kit. Still, look at a couple ego-c twists, or ego-c passthroughs, couple more protanks or other tanks, don't like the T3, look at the Evod which I would highly suggest, as the heads of the protank work in the Evod, and the Evod heads work in the protank.

Thanks for all the fast replies!

Madstabber - I actually stumbled upon that website just a few minutes before seeing this post, what I am wondering though is if that is the newest version, the V2 i guess? I can't find anywhere it says V2 and if its not, is it really worth buying the old model or am I better off just putting down the extra money for the newest one? I'm also not very patient, especially when it comes to getting something that im excited about hehe, 7-10 days might be too long. Either way I will definitely keep that site in mind for future purchases.

Where do you all like to purchase your liquids from? They don't have that big of a selection it seems on vapor alley.

Mount baker vapor is a great place for juices, I also like copper creek and mix my own. You really should think about getting the innokin svd as it is basically a much nicer vamo. The price for it is insane and from all the reviews I've read it is a great APV.

I would also recommend getting a Nitecore charger instead of the Trustfire. Never buy an electronic device with "FIRE" right in it's name.

I will also second the SVD suggestion. I have a Vamo and have used an SVD. I have my own SVD coming from Fasttech. The SVD just feels more solid then the Vamo. Don't get me wrong, the Vamo is a great mod and I love it.

Check out the SVD here: http://.........blogspot.com/2013/06/wow-innokin-itaste-svd-3903.html

Click the Fastech link at the bottom and if you order, don't forget the coupon code. All of the other stuff you listed would work with this as well.

The package hvacc linked is really good, I had efest batteries when I first got my vamo, and the battery life was not great, then I switched to Panasonic and was much better, could have been bad batch. I use Vamo with ProTank daily and I enjoy it, wish I would have leaped in when I started vaping then go from the gas station to pen and so forth. Good luck in your vaping experience it's always evolving.

So I took the advice about the SVD and went ahead and placed my order through fasttech! My order consists of:

- INNOKIN iTaste SVD Telescoping Variable Voltage Electronic Cigarette Battery Compartment
- Nitecore I2 Lithium Li-ion Ni-MH Ni-Cd Smart Battery Charger
- Panasonic CGR18650CH Rechargeable 2250mAh 3.7V 18650 Lithium Batteries (2-pack)

I basically just ordered the charger and batteries that the vamo package was going to come with, and since I was already going to get the protank it didn't really matter so much that the SVD didn't come with any tanks. The vamo looks great still, but at a total of $63.07 for this package vs. $52.08 for the vamo package, it seemed like I am getting a lot more for my money. Now I just need to order my protank and liquids from elsewhere since FT doesn't carry them.

One thing that kind of sucks is the shipping time since its coming from so far, and the SVD won't even be able to be shipped for 5 business days (this time next week). So I figure it'll be closer to 3 weeks before I get everything which means I will probably end up smoking past when I wanted to quit, but whats 2-3 weeks more when I have the rest of my life to not smoke :D

Thanks for the help, time to find a cheap protank and figure out where I want to order my liquids from.

Newbie here too, but I've done some due diligence, I like to think. Haven't gone analog since April 22nd. What I've learned (mostly from here) is that there are LOTS of options open to me. I guess I'm at the beginning of the learning curve right now. I'm using 510 batteries and different cartos in various combinations to find what I like. Haven't advanced past that yet, but it works for me thus far. Nearing two months without a cigarette is amazing to me, after nearly fifty years of smoking. So, right now, my inventory is: 4 Fin 510 batteries, 1 Joytech battery, 2 Jet batteries, 5 USB chargers, as for cartos, I've been buying the Blu high ones locally, and sampled and then ordered some Mojito Mint from Jet. Also have a few spare Fin cartos for dire times (though I find them a bit harsh). I know I've got a lot of learning and experimenting ahead of me, but as for now I'm joyously happy and very amazed that I haven't smoked for all this time. Thanks, all of you, for your info and recommendations.
