Hello All,

I went to a party last night and tried an e cig for my first time. I loved it! My friend had the ego c twist. Now I watched a few videos and looked up forums, I'm not sure where to start. Just watched a video from PBusardo and I learned a few things.

1. I want the best parts/equipment, what should I go with? I like looks and want the best vape. (No budget)

2. Which retailers are best?

If budget is no problem, I'm sure you're going to get ten or so posts here saying to get yourself a Provari. This could definitely be what you're looking for in terms of"the best". It is an American made variable voltage mod that allows you to control every aspect of flavor and vape heat possible, for a price that is...
I have an ego twist that i love, it would definitely be perfect to start with. but ever since i got my VAMO (basically a cheaper version if the Provari without certain bells and whistles, but the added benefit of being variable wattage) its all i use.

the second thing you're going to look at is your delivery system. I like clearomizers personally. I use vivi novas, pbusardo has good videos on them. But half of this forum will swear they are trash and tell you to go the cartomizer/carto tank route. Its all personal preference. So try a couple different things. As far as vendors from which to buy, i get most of my stuff (excluding juice) from gotvapes. Haven't had any troubles yet.

I get my juice almost exclusively from Heathers heavenly vapes. Only because i haven't found anyone that can compare (yet)
This, again, is all personal preference.

If your going to go for the Vamo SmokeTek has them at the moment where you can make it a kit with batt's and charger. They also run hourly specials.

I just ordered my Vamo from them this morning. Maybe when taxes come in I'll look at getting the Provari but I wanted the VW that the Vamo offers.

It really is a preference thing. Each person is going to have different wants/needs. You are going to like how something looks or your not. To each their own. This is one of the greatest things about vaping. Everyone can use different devices that work for them and thats all that matters. That it works.

There are other options out there ZMax is another one that offers VV and VW. It gets good reviews as well.

Everything will have an up and a down side. Nothing is perfect.

Good luck in your search hope you find what your looking for.

Till I can't stand up?!? No wait, that's something else...

Seriously tho, you'll find that it takes longer to puff on a ecig than an analog. It used to take me 5min for a conventional cigarette, but I'd take more like 10 minutes on an ecig. Also the method of "smoking" an ecig is different. You'll want to take long slow drags. Smoke it like a regular cigarette and you might end up with a sore throat or chest.

Below is an easy setup that I recommend for beginners or mid-level vapors alike. I don't like recommending individual "starter kits" as they often have parts that are not brand named, or devices that are not the lastest version, or just not useful for a beginner to start out with. The following gear can be obtained from two separate vendors at a reasonable cost. Many less expensive "starter kits" aren't really cheaper in the long run if the parts are inferior or old school technology.

Batteries and charger:

Vision Spinner variable voltage eGo batteries - recommend at least 2. AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo Spinner Variable Voltage Battery

or

Joyetech Twist variable voltage eGo batteries - recommend at least 2. http://altsmoke.com/ego-c-twist-variable-voltage.html

Mah rating refers to the length of time a battery will retain its charge under normal use. 1 hour is equal to 100 mah. For example 600 mah will last 6 hours, 1000 mah will last 10 hours.

USB/wall socket - optional, recommended for charging when away from a computer usb port. USB Mega 2Amp Wall Socket

Juice Delivery Devices (choose one or the other, or both):

kanger-T3-clearomizer.jpg

Kanger T3 Clearomizers - recommend 3. Kanger T3 Clearomizers Easy to fill by unscrewing the top. The inner atomizer heads are replaceable when they wear out.

Nicotine E-liquid:

Most vapors consume 3 - 5 ml of liquid a day. A good starting nicotine strength for a pack a day smoker is 18 - 24 mg. If given a choice, a 50/50 pg/vg ratio is good to start with. It is wise to pick vendors who offer flavor sampler packs; this way you can try a multiple flavors that the vendor offers without wasting money on larger bottles that you may not care for, should you find some winners order more in a larger size.

@DesmondTheMoonbear

Thanks for telling me about the Vamo...a lot of people seem to like it.

How long and how much do you smoke?

I don't smoke at all lmao...I just want to get into vaping. I like the flavors, especially menthol.

Thank you for the recommendation. Currently looking into the Vamo, LavaTube. Going to just limit to those two for now until I get serious and go with the ProVari.

@Baditude

Thank you for the detailed post. Made it much easier for me to go through. Right now looking to choose between the LavaTube and Vamo. Can you recommend me a good setup?

Also, what flavors do you guys enjoy?

I would STRONGLY recommend juice with no nicotine, its senseless to get yourself hooked on a substance that almost all of us wish we had never started in the first place...

If you don't smoke I have to wonder why you would get into vaping? If it's just flavor chew gum. For me, and I'm guessing most vapers, smoking was a horrible addiction and vaping is a way for us to quit smoking. For myself, it isn't even the physical addiction but the psychological addiction that is so horrible. Nicotine leaves the body in 3 days, but the psychological effects last much longer, I know people who quit years ago and still reach for smokes, and crave them. This is not a habit to pick up just because you like the flavor.

Arg, I just went on a big half hour rant, hit post, "you need to log in" and my post was gone......

The jist? Why spend 160 as a beginner when you can pay 25 other than to throw money around?
I was going to make a recommendation until I saw the one by Baditude and realize it was my EXACT recommendation. ;P
Listen to Baditude ! (just get the 1000 mah Joyetech Twist and don't worry about the Spinner)
Between 40 and 50 bucks you can have an awesome little variable voltage system.

Keep in mind that, compared to what your friend had at that party, the Vamo and Lavatube are huge. Like nightsticks compared to an ego. You could kill someone with one.

Now, I started with a Provari, but I had no expectation that it was going to be anything small... Though it is smaller than a Vamo or Lavatube, but still pretty hefty. I honestly don't recommend that stuff to people starting out, though. If you loved that eGo, it seems to my like an eGo would be a perfect thing for you to start with, and not something big enough to use as a baseball bat.

Baditude's recommendations are spot-on for someone looking to get started.

The visions 1300 mah spinner is great I have two of them, they last me about 36 hours before having to charge them with a carto tank on or a slb clearo. Im a moderate vaper, meaning I dont chain vape and I use my spinner at about 3.5- 3.8 most of the time. Joyetech is great but they dont have any above 1000 mah, the numbers arent as readable and there is a little red line on the dial on the spinner so you always know where its at in voltage. The spinner battery is about the same price as the joyetech.

I'd have to agree. I don't use those myself (since I like mods you can club a tiger into a coma with), but my fiancee uses eGo-type batteries and speaks very highly of the Spinners. More capacity and easier to use than the eGos.

As much as I love vaping, I will say this...

And please, don't take this the wrong way...

The only people that I would ever recommend vaping to are current smokers looking for a way to quit, or former smokers who are fighting to stay off, and looking for an alternative. Never, would I EVER, suggest vaping to a non-smoker...

I mean, it is certainly a safe alternative and a great way to kick a dirty habit, but why? If you like the way menthol tastes, grab a pack of halls and suck on those... You like apple pie? For Pete's Sake, go eat a slice of apple pie! LoL!

I'd really REALLY like to discourage you from ever taking up vaping. Just stay away from all things smoking/vaping related...

I know that's probably the last thing you expect to hear from someone on the pro-vaping e-cigarette-forum, but I'm just being honest... :)
