A relative of mine has been vaping for at least a couple of years and every time he comes in for a visit he would go on and on about how wonderful it was. Then he would talk about his equipment which looked so complicated and even more expensive. I thought "What's the point? You're just exchanging one expensive habit for an even more expensive one." I was never interested.

Then my brother got into it this summer. He had a simple two piece device purchased at a retail store that cost only $19.99. He raved and raved about it and told me if I wanted to test it out to get a disposable but that he would never recommend using only disposables. I picked up a Krave disposable at Rite Aid and puffed on it all day. I loved the taste and the feel to it. The menthol was more minty than menthol. I loved it. They claimed 500 puffs but I barely got 100, if that. Even so, I didn't crave a cigarette the whole day as long as I had the device.

I then began doing some research on kits which ultimately lead me to this site earlier this month and I became a lurker. I saw that Volt was recommended quite a bit as a good starter kit and it was something very simple, more my style. I ordered one from Smokeless Image along with some cartridges and the rest is history. I had one last pack of cigarettes that I couldn't see going to waste so I finished smoking them, one a day, and just finished the last one this morning. I've been vaping for about two weeks and I dreaded having to smoke that one cigarette a day. They just started tasting horrible but I'm a penny pincher and wouldn't just throw them out. I couldn't believe the difference and wondered how I was able to tolerate those nasty things day in and day out for 23 years! I must have been insane.

In just the two weeks I've been vaping, my sense of taste and smell have improved so much that I feel bombarded by all of these "new" smells and some foods I used to love are just too strong now. I can only imagine what I smelled like for the last 23 years after smoking 1 to 1 1/2 packs every day. I am so glad that I took the plunge and I'll never go back to smoking regular cigarettes again...nasty.

I am very happy with my Volt starter kit. Thanks to everyone who recommended it on this forum. You helped me make a wise decision!

I have ordered a pass through for when I'm sitting at home and ordered two extra batteries. Since the hand to mouth part of the habit was the hardest for me every other time I have tried to quit, I've found that the smaller cigarette style is all that I need. My brother now has a cigar style device. I tried it but it's just too bulky for me. I do love reading about all of the other devices though and maybe I might decide to upgrade in the future but right now I'm just happy that cigarettes no longer have a hold on me!

Congrats on the switch!
I myself have been analog free for about a week and in that week...... I feel great. I totally understand about the overwhelming taste of some things. I now HATE redbull and used to love it!
Also, yesterday morning I had a glass of milk and WOW, I could actually taste the creaminess to it.

Good luck and keep vaping friend !!!

I just started vaping Friday w/a Volt, auto-battery, vanilla cartridge. Two days w/o an "analog" and feeling no need for one. The Volt is filling that need just fine. After struggling with quitting cigs my entire life, this is just amazing. Yesterday I ordered some e-liquids from Rawr Vapor, including strawberry-chocolate, cherry blossom, and chocolate cappuccino. Can't wait to try out some new flavors!

This is so cool.

This is exactly the kind of story I needed to hear. I'm just looking at buying my first ecig (I too was looking at the Volt) but thought I'd look around here to see what others had to say before taking the plunge. 15+ years of pack-a-day smoking for me, and I need to change that. I want something that looks/feels as close to a "real" cig as possible, but I'm still confused about the differences between disposable cartridges and refillable tanks. Is the volt refillable using e-liquids, or do you have to replace the whole cartridge/atomizer assembly when it runs dry? Congrats on kicking your habit, I hope I can share a story like that a month from now!
