Welcome, Marvin, and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. vaping can definitely be overwhelming at first; like you said, there are so many products out there and it can be difficult knowing where to start. It will help you a lot to understand the types of e-cigs out there and some basic terminology before making a purchase. You've already tried the mini (pen), and I'm not surprised you weren't satisfied with it. I tried one initially and found it to be a waste of my money. You should either try a mid-size or a mod. The mid-size is larger than a mini but is still relatively small and thin, so it's not as bulky as a mod. It has longer battery life and stronger vapor production, so it should satisfy your cravings more. I personally use a mod, and it helped me quit smoking completely. They are a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature. It's kind of like a mid-size on steroids hahaha; strongest battery life and strongest vape production of the three. You'll also get features such as being able to control the wattage and voltage, which is nice.

Wattage= battery power. The higher the wattage, the stronger the hit and the larger the cloud.
Voltage= the electrical pressure that sends power to the atomizer (the tank part of your e-cig)
Ohm= the amount of resistance to the voltage pressure. Higher ohm means more resistance which means smaller hit.
If you want, check out my blog entry, "vaping 101: Terminology" at megsyclouds.wordpress.com. I basically explain all of the common terminology that I had trouble understanding when I first started vaping.

I'd recommend going to a vape shop and having staff help you choose a model and show you how to use it. Also, you might be happier starting off with a 12mg nic since the 6 isn't satisfying you.

Good luck!

Was thinking of going to 12mg for the next one. It's not that there is something lacking per say, but I would go a couple of hours (at work) between cigs and with the vaping, I seem to be hitting it every couple of minutes

Might even consider a small bottle at 18 then, too.

And, if the same flavor, you can mix equal amounts of different levels for "in-between" strength. Say half at 12 and half at 24 would yield juice at 18, and so on. (And you can, of course, mix different flavors. Results will vary )

Susan, hello. I started with the pen type from the local smoke shop, didn't cut it. I have moved on to a Kanger sub tank mini with an iStick 30w. I am still playing with the whole watts, volts, and ohms for the correct set up for me. Research that stuff is crazy!! This is why I'm here now, to find out all I can!

You might want to get some 12mg or 18mg for your pen-style; at lower watts, you absorb less nicotine and slower. At sub-ohm watts, you'll absorb a bit more nicotine a bit faster, so that 6mg you already have may be all you need for lower ohm coils. 0mg is always nice to have around, too. It will take a little experimenting to see what works for you. As an early adopter, I have always been on cigalikes/low watts and I started with 18 (especially when having cocktails). My goal was to mimic smoking patterns and stretch time between vaping further and further. From there I moved down to 6 and then zero where I pretty much stay. I may go without vaping for months, but if I get cravings now, (yes, after six years they're still there but I do live with a smoker) I break out the 18 for a day or two, and then drop back to zero.

For me, the hardest part of quitting wasn't giving up the cigarettes, it's resisting the 'shiny-itis' temptation to buy new vaping toys !

Good luck. And have fun !
