Hello EFS members

Just got an ecig today. Actually two, got a couple of flavours and i've been puffin on this all day so far and I just noticed that I only had 3 smokes so far today sweet.

I never planned on quitting been there a dozen times, some for as long as a year. Realistically just wanted to cut down a little bit and see how gracefully the replacement was.

So far I'm impressed even on the first day I find I'm reaching for the ecig and not the pack.

My lungs do feel a little heavy but I'm a two pack a day man and now filling them with vapour.

Some research is in order like how much can I puff safely and why my lung feel a bit burned. I also feel a bit buzzed today too I wonder if I'm overdoing it or will my body tell me when I'm at my limit like the occasional morning spins smokes can give you.

Anyways great forum with lots of helpful people I'm glad I found it.

Hello mushymelon, and welcome to the forum.

You didn't mention how many cigarettes you were smoking before, what gear you are using now, or what nicotine strength is in your e-liquid.

We typically suggest a 1 ppd smoker start off with 18 - 24 mg of nicotine. Generally you can vape as much or as frequently as you desire. In fact, when you get that craving for a cigarette, vape more. When you do smoke, smoke only half of the cigarette and save the rest for the next craving. Soon the cigarettes will begin to taste pretty bad, and you can eventually avoid using them altogether.

Drink plenty of water. The pg/vg which makes up the majority of the e-liquid draw water from our body, so it needs to be replaced to avoid dehydration symptoms. It took your body time to adapt to smoke, it will take your body some time to adapt to vapor, so the heavy lung feeling should disappear soon.

We have a saying on the forum, "Its not how many cigarettes you smoke that count, its the ones you didn't."

    Welcome Mushy!
Check your juice & see how much the percentage of VG you have, you may need to lower that if your lungs are feeling heavy :)
And yeah, you can get a buzz going if you vape too much nic ... what's your nic load?

Anyway just want to welcome you, enjoy the forum!

    Hey there mushymelon,
CONGRATS on coming over to the "vape side"...
Vaping is ....and will feel a little like stepping out of a sauna, as opposed to breathing in a camp fire.
Vape away...you may want to check out

Makes a big difference from cigs to vaping.
What level of NIC are you using...? That may also contribute to the "buzz"?

    Thanks for the link redNblack

24mg nic I think Im coming down with a cold too. maybe its a lack of oxygen thing, gotta stop smoking it like a joint.

It's takes a good week for your body to get used to vaping. And then comes the detoxing of the nastiness of cigarettes. You and your body will be going through changes, times of adjustment.

Best thing to do is not pick up another cigarette and just get fully used to the vapor. As others have said, you do not take in nicotine, nor retain it, like when smoking. So don't fret if you vape more than you smoked, but if you get nausea, break out in sweat, lightheadness/headaches, back off for a few.

Welcome to ECF, and keep us updated on your progress.
