Yep...that's the most likely thing not fake but mislabelled but as @Mooch said just because he hasn't seen a VTC 5A with the same markings it doesn't mean there aren't any.

If it’s mislabeled it’s a fake as that would not be done by Sony/Murata.
I’m 99.99% sure they’re fake. There’s just no way for me to prove it from here.

I paid about $13 in each.
They weigh 44g

I have no clue. I'd probably do better with a tarot card reading on your batteries than by looking at them.

At this point, I'm just glad I'm in a country where I can In My Battery Trust Store, and not have to peel off the wraps and study the odd numerology involved and etc.

Good luck with them. Counterfeit or genuine.

There are no sellers of batteries that will tell you they are fake.

The Sony store won’t know anything about these batteries as they were never meant to be sold individually to us. They are only meant to be built into fully protected battery packs by Sony’s large commercial/industrial customers.
