I am glad that I found this forum, I have already learned quite a bit from reading various threads. I do have a question which is why I finally registered. I received my eGo-C about 2 months ago and have been very impressed with the battery life and the vapor production. When I started to get that unpleasant taste, I simply replaced the atomizer head and I was good to go. This time, I replaced the atomizer head and I am still getting an unpleasant taste. I also switched to new tank cartridges thinking that would help, which it did not. What else could be causing the unpleasant "sour" or "burnt" taste?

First off, welcome to ECF! Now down to business..Are you making sure that you are blowing the primer fluid out of the new atty before use as well allowing the liquid to wick to the atty after popping the tank onto the cone? After you change the atty head, you can either drop some of the liquid you will be using onto it (after blowing out the primer) or after placing the tank in the cone, allowing it to sit for a short bit to allow it to wick. Also, are you using the silicone (soft) caps or the the hard plastic ones on the tank? Sometimes the silicone caps can be a little finicky when first used.

It is likely a wicking issue. However, if you're still on the same pack of atomizers, you probably have a buildup of gunk on the coil. If the liquid can't get to the coil, then you're heating and burning the gunk and that really tastes nasty. Try prying the needle plate off the atomizer (being careful not to pull the wick out) and put the atomizer and cone back on, and run it like that using short pulses until you burn off all the gunk and can see the coil glowing red. Then reassemble the atomizer and it should work like new again. The best suggestion I can give is to buy some stardusts and stop using the atomizer altogether. They're the same price and a lot more hassle-free and consistent.

It's odd that you're having that problem even after replacing both the atty and tank. Is it happening with every juice that you've tried? Have you tried cleaning your battery threads and the atomizer base? After a while oxidation builds up there and the air that you're vaping has to travel over them so I clean them out at least once a week. Just dip a Q-tip in some isopropyl alcohol and swab around them.

Another possibility is that your taste buds are just going haywire for a bit. That often happens to new vapers and even long-term vapers can occasionally have short spells where every juice they try either loses it taste or seems to taste off. There doesn't seem to be much that can be done during those episodes except perhaps switching to unflavored nic juice for a bit and making sure you're drinking enough water.

The only other thing I can think of is that you've got a sinus or oral infection. A large part of taste is actually smell and a sinus or oral infection can really introduce some noxious tastes and smells even before it otherwise becomes clinically evident.

I hope this helps.

Your tanko (blank tank atty) is not wicking properly, this is causing you to burn juice and/or get dry hits. Sometimes you'll get a tanko that works like a dream, and does until it dies. But in my experience, more often you'll get a tanko that either wicks badly from the start, or does so soon after.

First, since you've already go the equipment, look at your blank tanks, are they punched correctly? If the chad is still left hanging, that may be the cause of your woes. Sometimes you have to take off the cap and remove it by hand. Also, you can try fiddling with the tanko wick. Sometimes that helps. Also, for some reason you can't always transfer old tanks, to a new tankomizer. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Thick of that spike as like a unique finger print, if you didn't punch the tank with that particular spike, it might not fit perfectly on another and that can cause wicking problems (and leaking). Odd I know!

But to tell you the truth, I've never been impressed with the tanko system. It's just too unreliable. It was the system I started out with, and if I didn't have access to a forum to see that a lot of people had problems with them, I probably would have written off vaping. I switched to clearos and dripping, MUCH better.

Now some people have really good experiences with tankos, I wasn't one of them. A lot of people agree, some don't. I suppose it does come down to opinion.

When I was using my Ego-C I found taking an occasional hit or two without hitting the power button between inhales seemed to keep the atomizer more wet and eliminated the nasty occasional dry hit taste that occurred sometimes. Making sure your giving it a good cleaning occasionally also helps. Seems my problem with the ego-c was after a months or so of use ever tank I put in there leaked, from what I heard the 1st batch of Ego-C's were known for that and the later models had some new revisons but instead of investing in more bodies I started going with cartomizers. Still yet to find the perfect set up but needless to say I enjoy tinkering as there is a lot of different atomizer, cartomizers, tanks systems and the like that work with the Ego batteries.!! LOL!

Can you tell me more about stardusts, what they do, where to buy them and a specific type/size that I need?

I followed all of the advice in this thread and all is good again. Thanks for all of the help:) I am curious about stardusts so any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ego Vision / Stardust video

Trying my first batch now. I'm liking them a lot so far, waiting to see how long they last.

Seems I overspent a little. I got them from ecigexpress.com.

Gotvapes.com has them for $4.95 ea.

Picked up 1 Low Res and 2 Standard Res. Prolly should've just got all LR for now. But I was thinking the SR's would be nice once I get my V-mod.

So far only seems to last a day or so before the draw starts getting pretty tight. But that could just be from the juices I'm vaping I'm cleaning a couple now to see how well they "come back".

Everyone raves about the stardusts. Ive gone back to my ego-c setup. I got two stardusts from myfreedom and they have very short wicks. You have to constantly roll the tank to keep them wet, if not it dry hits. Problem with rolling the tank is that afterwards the thing gurgles as juice backs up inside the chamber and then it sucks into your mouth. Ive read all the tips and tricks for these things and none of em help.

Franky, Ego-w clearomizers (eliq carts) work wayyyyyyy better than the stardusts ever will imo and Ill be buying those from now on. No leaking, warm vape, no gurgling, eazy peezy

Sorry to rant on everyones favorite stardust but I just dont like em at all.

Dont want to hijack this thread but i wanna ask about a problem i have with my ego-c today. Seems that there is no to very little air coming through both my egos. The draw is unbelievably stiff and that alone causes the atomizers to leak to the battery terminal. I have tried 3 different atomizer heads that were working properly until yesterday and 3-4 brand new tanks. All my equipment is genuine joyetech. Also one of the atomizer heads is brandw new out of the package. I dont know why this is happening and suddenly i cannot use my e-cig. The atomizers fire up ok without the tank on, i can hear the hissing and cracking noise quite clearly, but when i put a tank on its like the atomizer is barely firing up. Result: very stiff draw, very poor vapor, very poor taste, and guess what, very poor TH. Can you give me some help as what to do? Thank you.
