new member with battery issue?

Hello everyone! My name is Cody and I have been a short term lurker. I was a smoker for 16 years pack a day and tried everything to quit. 2 months ago I started with a blu vape pen and haven't had a cigarette since. vaping is the real deal! I really appreciate all of the wonderful info on this forum, but I have a recent concern where I can not find an answer. I hope someone can help!!

So my battery is an eleaf I stick 40 watt temperature control. About 2 weeks old. The tank I'm using is an innokin I sub with nickel coils, around 1 week old. I run it in temperature mode around 490 Fahrenheit. I just noticed a very steady ticking sound from my tank around where the coil is after I vape.The ticking sound stops aafter a few minutes. Sounds like a short? I'm unsure and concerned ...any help is appreciated! Merry Xmas!!

Additionally I do not have an extra tank or battery to isolate the issue.

I'm no battery expert but generally when something is heated and it cools there can be a ticking sound as it cools. If that relates to this particular issue I wouldn't have a clue. Welcome to ECF.

Thank you Mr. Parsons! That is what I originally thought as well, but if press the fire button very quickly once without letting it reach temperature it will still click.

I'm thinking that might be hissing, not ticking. As Chuck Parsons said, the hissing would be from the coils cooling down. Mine do that all the time. I've gotten into the habit of letting the fire button go before I finish drawing the vapor so I get all of it and nothing goes to waste.
