Hi every one. I am a pack a day smoker and having been smoking for about 15 years. I have quit a few times (during my 2 pregnancies and for a year following end of my mother’s battle with lung cancer) but I ALWAYS come back. I LOVE smoking! Sure I hate the smell, the guilt, the hacking smokers cough, and the fact that I have been reduced to hiding my habit from disapproving extended family. But I love the act of smoking, rolling something around in my fingers, that initial inhale when you wake up. And it's my escape, my excuse to take a few minuets to myself away from kids, and my job.... well I'm sure ya'll know exactly what I mean. That is what keeps bringing me back.

So now I'm patiently awaiting my very first e-cigarette from revolver. It should be here tomorrow or Saturday. I’m hoping this will free me from analog cigarettes! Wish me luck!

Welcome to the forum! Your story sounds just like mine except instead of the mom with lung cancer it's my throat biopsy that I had to have a few years back (no cancer, thank god!) and the fact that even that didn't get me to quit.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, though.

If anything will do it, this will. Just don't give up if it's hard at first, some people get the hang of it right out of the gate and some take a while to catch on. Ask a ton of questions, that's what we're here for; to help each other through and guide the ones who follow. It's like a pay it forward kind of thing.

Good Luck,
Rosa (quit smoking after 25 years using an e-cig)

Welcome to ECF!

Best of luck to you. I hear good things about the Revolver.

The key to switching to vaping, is to just let it happen. No guilt, no pressure.

All you really need to do, is decide that when you want to smoke, you will pick up your e-cigarette first. That is the biggest hurdle, as far as habits go.

Once you do that, a lot of people find they are able to put down the cigarettes almost immediately, If that's what happens for you, great!

But if it's not, no pressure. A lot of people take a while to quit. A lot of people have to experiment with nicotine strengths and models to find what's just right for them.

If you reeeaaallly want that cig... have it.

Unlike every other quitting method, quitting with e-cigarettes will show you very quickly just how much cigs suck. They taste bad, they make you feel bad, and e-cigarettes are better in every way!

Even the throat hit and "smoke" production is better than cigarettes. :)

So do what works for you, and know that we're all here for support whenever you need it.

Good luck!

Hey congratulations on taking the first step. Please don't get discouraged if your not totally satisfied. I just started using the Blu and I used to smoke a pack a day and im down to 2-3 still so I'm getting something a bit bigger now. Stay on these forums and you will feel more support while you gain knowledge and get used to the switch. I'm new but thanks to this forum I understand so much now. Keep us updated on how it goes for you. Ohh can you tell me where I can see these "revolver" I never heard of them.

Welcome to ECF and your journey with your new best friend. I think by reading the forum so far you will see there is no high pressure to quit smoking analogs. Learn how to use your e-cig and let things happen naturally, it will surprise you how easy it is when you aren't even trying. Just be sure if you have questions, just ask. There are always lots of people willing and able to help, you found the right place, enjoy it. :)

Hi amchain, Welcome to the forum! I can relate totally to your story. Also lost my Mom to lung cancer, also LOVE smoking. It has been one of the biggest contradictions in my life. For 20 of the 40 years I smoked I was trying to quit. I could go for anywhere between 3 days to 5 months without a cigarette, but I always went back, because nothing I ever found gave me the same pleasure that I got from smoking.....that is until now! I can honestly say that I enjoy vaping more. Maybe it's just because I am finally free of that awful guilt, but I think that's just a part of it. Please don't feel discouraged if it takes awhile to get it right. There is a learning curve that can get pretty frustrating, but we are here whenever you need us. Next week I will be 9 months smoke free! If I can do it, you can. Let us know how it goes.

Sure revolvercig.com. There is also a review on YouTube by a user named Niko (I think thst his user name). If you go on YouTube and search "revolver elite" it should pop up. I ordered the cheapie starter kit for $19. I ordered teusday so I hope it comes in tomarrow. As soon as I get it I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks for the encouragement!

Good luck to you, although you wont really need it. Vaping is fantastic. Although I'm new to the forums ( I have been lurking), I've been vaping for around 5 months now and absolutely love it.

Don't forget to ask if you aren't sure about something, there are plenty of people around to answer your questions and give you encouragement if you need it.

Thanks so much for your encouragement! I've been reading some of the threads; I'm so impressed with the comradery and support. I am really looking forward to joining this community! I will most defiantly let you know how my first experience goes. (lol, I feel kinda shy using the terminology, is it “my first vaping?”)

Welcome! You will not find a more encouraging, gracious bunch of people anywhere.

Agree with MistressNomad that the hardest part is breaking all the other habits that go with your habit - the rituals, the schedules, etc. Definitely keep taking the time for yourself and take a stroll with your PV! I also used to especially look forward to leaving my desk twice a day, walking outside to smoke. Once I started vaping, I stopped leaving my desk. Bad idea! Everyone needs a break, and now you can just enjoy the time out, even without vaping, because you're not "storing up" your craving for that 10am sunshine.

It's hard to change the mindset, but you know your habits and you can see them coming, so you can make the choice to vape instead. It's hard at first but gets way easier, especially once you've found a liquid you love. KEY.

Was wondering if anyone would share thier first vaping experiences? What to expect?

For me:

I kept myself busy learning about vaping. There's def. a learning curve.

Make sure you have an ample vaping supply. The various components do fail. You don't want to kick yourself in the fanny for not being prepared. I came oh so close.

I've been cig. free since April 14 thanks to this forum.
Use it-- read , read ,read. You'll undoubtedly find what you need.

Welcome:)
