Greetings all everyone. I just joined yesterday and have been vaping for about a month now. I'm just using my mothers old DSE 801 since she upgraded to an eGO. She was kind enough to give me a LOT of e-juices to get me started. She also gave me quite a few accessories to get going. passthru, drip tip, lots and lots of empty cartridges. What can I say my mommy loves me

I will say that there is a lot of information on here and I could spend days and days reading it all. I do have a few questions and hope to get some answers.

I've tried a few different juices and have a few that I really like..or can actually taste. But as a menthol smoker what is a good "juice" to use? The one that I have now is more minty then menthol.

What is a good PV to use? My mom likes her eGO and was thinking that might be what I get but not too sure and was hoping for some input from other users.

Hello and welcome! eGo is a good starting point for anyone. It really is just a fantastic PV. It looks like about 75% of the peeps on these forums has one or some variation of one so that's gotta tell you something.

The trouble is that the answers to your questions are based entirely on personal preference.

How about this, you have used an 801, and probably at least tried you mom's ego. Tell me what you liked and disliked about each of those, and I'll help recommend something new and better. For instance, if you really liked the 801 atty's flavor, but want something that feels more substantial and has more battery life, maybe you want a Leo. If you really liked the ego but want a hotter vape, maybe you just need an ego with a LR atty. That kind of thing.


As far as the liquids, I really can't comment because I don't like anything that is mint or menthol in my vape.

Well I've only taking one hit from the eGO. I do like how the battery seems to last forever for her. Her PV seem to be attached to her lips. I understand that my question are mostly personal preference. I guess what I'm asking for is some ideas for PV that people have used. The only person that I know that vapes is my mother.

I'm with Vee, hardware can go all over the map..more info on what you have tried is helpful on where to go. As for menthol.. the best I can suggest is Truepure from Halo...it is a little on the high price side..but is the cleanest menthol I have tried.. get a small sample for 3 or 4 bucks, and give it try. Get back to us on likes/dislikes of current hardware.

Hi and welcome to ECF. You're way ahead of most nuB's in that you have access to 2 PV's before even making a purchase. If possible borrow one of your mom's eGo's for a day and see how that works for you. You've got the 801 to leave her so she won't be vapeless if her battery dies. If she loves you she won't mind .

Welcome! As a new vaper just think of what you prefer. Looks, size, style( carts cartos drip ), and choose accordingly. Try the ego she has for a few minutes and maybe you don't like the size and may like the joye 510 instead...

Well on the 801 I find the draw to light. There just doesn't seem to be much of a TH. The battery life is to short for my use. Especially with the auto batteries. Also I found out that you shouldn't put the 801 in the washing machine... don't ask

The one sure thing is super-minis (one the same size as a king cigarette) typically satisfy very few people for more than a few weeks and are a pain to fill.

The most popular PV's on this board are probably the various fat battery versions of those minis (i.e. Ego and Riva 510, Riva 901, Elegant Easy for KR8 and some variations on those)

Then there are a variety of exotic shapes and mods that don't look like cylinders.

Where your DSE801 fits in is somewhere just below those 3 most popular minis. DSE801 is a longer "pen style" and it is probably most similar hitwise to DSE901 (though as far as I now not thread compatible)?

My opinion of the 3 popular minis...
510 - denser warmer hit with maybe less flavor, hot atty, and fat battery form is probably the most flexible
901 - airier cooler hit with with decent flavor
KR8 - dense tasty vapor but pretty hot on lips w/ some cartos

And because the KR8 is a dedicated 2-piece, none of its length is atomizer so more is battery. Therefore a standard battery assembled KR8 is about the same length as a standard battery 510 or standard battery DSE901, but the KR8's battery is longer and 280mah vs the 180mah battery of the 510 and 901.

I actually use KR8 manual batteries with DSE901 atty and carts

I have a Reva 510 and a Joye Ego and I adore them both. I wanted to make sure I was never caught without one, so I keep one by my bed and one in my purse, just in case. Having said that, you can't go wrong with an Ego.

The first time I saw the ego and my mom drawing off of it I thought "Why are you smoking a mascara bottle". I'm thinking that I might get the eGo but after reading more the Riva might work just as well. I do like how the ego has great battery life. That would be a major plus since I drive quite a bit during my workday.

O.K. Hal, here is my opinion, based on your answers, Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510 this is a 510 Riva..same as your moms eGo..lots of battery life, and a bit heavier draw than 901, be sure to click the 20% off in the upper left corner if you order one. Thanks for the links secondchance. I will say that since I've been vaping every now and then I get a craving for an analog and when I do break down and have one I can only take a hit or two because they taste awful. It makes me wonder why I ever wanted them. Well back to gathering more info on PV's..
