Go the "samples" route if you're shopping around, a lot of the online vendors have sample packs, many that you can choose PG/VG, Nic mg, and flavor.

I do at times get a chalky taste in my mouth, can only wonder how that smells to others....
just curious she smells this when you vape but not when you used to smoke? Although probably when you smoked menthols all she smelled was the ashtray smell....
keep a bottle of febreze handy? Sorry wish I had more to offer but if you've tried other menthols and still she swears its mothball smell....it could be a mix between the menthol and pg or vg...maybe try different % of pg/vg to make it more mint smell and less mothball?

I'd say try another vendor and maybe get some different flavors with menthol mixed in.
A couple of good ones for menthol flavors are Roar vapor and mountain oak vapor, with these guys you can pick any flavor you want and add as much menthol as you like.

She was smoking too. So I doubt it mattered then.
What boggles my mind is how refreshing the dekang feels in my mouth. Like I would think I would have people flocking to me just to get close to all the awesomeness that's coming from my mouth. Alas, mothballs.

Well, that 'splanes it. To a lot of members cotton candy flavor is used as a sweetner, not to be vaped as a stand alone. That and marshmellow and some creams. But I do think NiNI is right. Sense of smell and taste are coming back to life. You will be suprised at how both of your tastes will change from where they are now. Just keep telling yourself, it is only temporary, it is only temporary.....
The nose knows....or it does for the time being. Like it was posted earlier, your tastes changes over time while your vaping as your tastebuds come back to life (little zombies)....Happy Vaping!! 
I have some mothball smell when vaping rich vg juice. More pg less that taste.
If juice stays in tank for a long period of time more smell it gives. (20 ml tank).
Try diy juice. Something like 80pg/20vg or even 90/10.

I also want to add that when my taste and smell starting coming back, for me, it was the smell of raw meat that rolled my stomach. I was cooking dinner one night, and opened a package of hamburger and almost threw up. I had all my fam members smell it because I thought it had gone bad. It hadn't. I went ahead and cooked it and everyone was fine, but couldn't force myself to touch it. And I am not a vegetarian. I love steak as well as the next person. It has since gotten better, but I still remember that. Of all the things to notice. so go easy on the mrs. She will get thru it. And so will you.
I have yet to try to make my own juice. I think I have to vape the 400+ ml of juice that I have purchased so far before I am allowed to buy anymore. But the last few bottles I have purchased have all been 80/20. However, it is not the two that make her skin crawl.

Nobody has told me that I smell like mothballs, when I use menthol or anything else. They do tell me they can smell the flavor of whatever I'm smoking all the time. The trouble is, they may smell it, but I can't taste it!
I am using up some Menthol Breeze 12mg I bought locally before I delved into DIY. It's really mentholated.

I got some TFA flavors for DIY from RTS Vapes of mint candy, creme de menthe, wintergreen, peppermint, and spearmint. 10ml bottles for less than 3 bucks each, fast shipping and very well packaged.
I mix up 10ml bottle with 12mg nicotine, 70 PG/30 VG and 10% flavor. They're all nice and minty but I still have to add 5 drops of my menthol crystal (got 4oz. bag of crystals from Amazon) DIY mix to them to get my cool throat hit I love.
I crush the crystals to a fine powder, measure out 1/2 teaspoon of them, dissolve with 1/2 teaspoon of RO water, pour it into a 10ml bottle then add 50/50 PG & VG to fill up the rest of bottle (3.75ml of each). Shake the heck out of the bottle then give it a nice hot water bath. The only time it re-crystallizes is when our temperature drops and my bedroom is like a walk-in cooler even in summer. I just give it a hot bath again. It hasn't crystallized in any of my tanks so far. :thumbup:

You might want to skip adding the crystals, she may think you're mothballier than ever. My crowd is pretty vocal about everything so I can't see them letting me slide on mothball breath!
I was hypersensitive to women that bathed in perfume at work and fumegated my office even when I smoked and I'm definitely more sensitive to it now that I don't. Charlie and that fake Giorgio crap Primo make me want to hurl. I apologize in advance if some of you wear either of those.
