Hey there, new member here.
After lurking for awhile I decided to take the plunge and sign up.
Currently running a Protank on an eVic.
I've got the worst luck with BCC's so I might be selling the Protank soon so hopefully I can get my post count up to use the classifieds.
I tried two Evods and both leaked like crazy. Now I can't get my Protank to work very well. Its a lovely piece, the glass is awesome, but the darn thing just bubbles and leaks on me despite how tight I've got the head screwed in. The taste of e-juice in my mouth is disgusting and the lose of vapor sucks.
It may be a fluke however, I run a light juice and I've been leaving my eVic in my car in the hot Arizona sun so I'm thinking this might be making the juice even thinner and that's whats making it leak through the gaskets.

Before that rig my first e-cig was a Mini Vivi Nova on an eGo-C Twist.
I still use that one at work because I won't cry if I drop or lose that one (unlike the eVic).
I've currently got a clear 3.5ml Vivi Nova and wooden drip tip on the way that I'll be switching out my Protank with.
Can't beat the flavor or ease of use of a Vivi Nova.

You'll also need to be a verified member to use the classifieds. I'm still waiting for my verification to be ratified.

Heat could well be the culprit. Either the juice is too thin, or there's a seal, gasket, or fitting somewhere that is damaged. The usual culprits are the inside 'O' rings you slide the carto through. Sharp edges can carve up the 'O' rings pretty good. If it's leaking through the carto and coming out the fitting then mostl likely it's thin juice.

Ok, so I have a suggestion:

I have seen that some of the Protanks are being shipped missing the loose wicking that sits on top of the coil wrapped wick. So the solution is to remove the metal stem from the coil assembly and add some wicking, return the stem, put it back in the tank and try it.

But first just check to see if your wicking is all there.....

It's got all the wicking.
I cleaned out my Protank and reassembled it. Also tried some new variable wattage settings on eVic.
Everything seems to be working OK so far, no gurgling. I think it may very well be the heat thing, I might be constricted to just using my Protank in my air conditioned home.
Any ideas on remedying my Evods? I went through two of those things, both times they were a leaking gurgling mess. All the gaskets were tightened down very tight. However I have sneaking suspicions that one of them may have been a knock-off, some of the small gaskets on the head looked a little different than the second one I bought from a more reputable vendor. And the more I think about it the second one might have suffered from the heat thing as well.
Finally how is Boba's Bounty? I know its reputation is renowned but I'm very curious to try it for myself. All the other e-juices I've tried are one the sweeter and fruity side and I know Boba's is more of a pure tobacco taste if I'm not mistaken?

Welcome to the boards dude! The sun could be the thinner of your juices my friend, I try not to let mine sit out like that. There's nothing worse than a good juice gone bad. :(

And as far as bobas bounty is concerned, I've never tried it, but there have been plenty of positive reviews. I'm thinking about giving that one a go soon myself.

Hi Prime and welcome to ECF. Don't sell anything yet!

the darn thing just bubbles and leaks on me despite how tight I've got the head screwed in.

Here's a problem. Do not screw the head tight into the battery; when you do so, you force the center post up and allow the juice to leak. The connection between your tank and your battery should be loose, just enough to make contact--no more. On the other hand, the base of the tank (Protanl, T3, eVod) to its should be really tight, or it will leak. With eVods, make sure that the coil is screwed into the base tighly as well--sometimes they are not screwed in tightly at the factory, or they become loose in transport. They also become loose when you refill--always check!

I have been using T3s, baby T3s, T2s, and eVods for a while and never had one leak.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips.
I love to tinker and mess with things so tomorrow I'll give my Evods a new try. They do have a nice, airy draw, unlike the Vivi Nova which I have to suck on pretty hard to get a good vape. I'll see if I can't get those things working yet.

Hello, Prime Time Vapist . . . Welcome to the ECF boards. I have not had any issues with my protanks. The only suggestion I can offer you is, you might try installing a new head into the unit and see if that works . . . Good luck.

Andy

Yes I was thinking the same thing too.
Actually after cleaning, refilling and tightening everything down the darn thing is working great! And tweaking the MVW settings on my eVic is producing HUGE clouds of smoke.
