Good evening everybody,

I am new to this forum and have a question about something that is really bothering me.
I vape an aspire atlantis 0.5 ohm coil on 30 watts.
I primed the coil very well and waited for about 30 minutes before I started vaping on it.
Also for the period of two full tank kept the wattage at 10 to break the coil in.
After 6 days of vaping on it I decided I wanted to know what the inside of the coil looks like.
When I pullen the wicking material out it was dark brown and on same spots black.
It looked burned but that seemed odd to me since I have never experienced a burned taste during that 6 days of vaping.
The coil is a organic cotton coil btw.
I will upload some photo's of the cotton too.
I hope that somebody knows what this is.

Greetings,

Vaping tiger.

It's gunk. Residue from the juice burning and sticking to the coil and leaching unto the cotton. Normal. When the coil & cotton get too gunked up it will be difficult to get a nice draw out of the tank. Then it's time to change the coil/and or cotton or both.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
I already thought it couldnt really be burned because I never tasted burnt.

Yep "gunk" is the scientific name for it.

Onec it builds up enough you will start to get some burned tinges to your vape. Time to change your coil/wicking.
Ok Im glad to know im not inhaling burned cotton.
I quit smoking cigarettes just to avoid inhaling burnt material lol.
I replace my coils as soon as I notice a little offtaste.
