Okay dual wire coils? Double checking. but scorch your wires to cherry red with a lighter before wrapping and let us know if that works.
If that does not work, I am going to go with the other guy that mentioned it, and change your wick material. Wrap your wire tightly around a 1/16 drill bit, get it hot and tight before install and stuff with some CVC virgin cotton.
All that said, I think once you Pre Torch your wire to cherry red before wrapping, should take care of it, especially if your using double wire coils.

I've got 4 of these RTA's and I've tried countless coil configurations - the best coil I've found is a simple single wire micro coil wicked with either organic cotton or rayon. I've found the best flavor from rayon though.

On my DNA 30 device I like them at 1.5 ohm.... 28g kanthal, 9 wraps on a 2mm screwdriver. Running about 15 watts. I get burnt hits above 22 watts.

On mech device I prefer .8 ohm.... 28g kanthal, 5 wraps on a 2mm screwdriver.

I agree, still have not wrapped my head around double wire coils yet.

I'm not using dual wire coils. Just doubling over 2mm silica (basically 2 strands), and wrapping with 30 - 32g kanthal. Nothing fancy.

I do run a lighter over the Kanthal before wrapping. Get it red hot & straighten it out a bit. Forgot to mention that. I also pulse the coil a few times once it's in place.

I've generally not been a big fan of cotton & microcoils. Tried it on a few RDAs. Seems like at lower power I taste the cotton. Higher power I stop tasting the cotton, but the vape starts getting warmer than I care for & the flavor is a bit muted. Vapor production was certainly good though. Although that was with 30g around a 1/16 drill bit, so not a ton of wraps. Been meaning to pick up some 28g so I can try it with more wraps & see if I like the results any better.

You have to take apart the entire thing, even the center pin, it's insulator, positive block and it's insulator, every screw, and the orings. Take all those metal parts and let them soak in some dawn dish soap and hot water, agitating them every so often. Rinse the orings and insulators and warm water, no soak. After the metal soak (soak for a while too) rinse the it out, run a soft pipe cleaner through the insides of the build deck air holes to get anything out. Then rinse again, I like to then soak in iso alcohol, then rinse again. Let it completely dry. A little OCD, but then you know it's clean.

I've stripped it down/soaked/scrubbed repeatedly. Tried dish soap, 195 proof vodka, citrus based cleaner, white vinegar, and coca cola. I think I've tried everything but boiling or an ultrasonic (don't have one).

Pretty frustrated with it. I tried some clones at a shop that had good flavor, but ordered this one as they were having trouble getting more in stock. I like the draw & vapor production, but this bad taste kills it for me.

Wondering if I should try dropping the money for an authentic, or just look into something different.

I would hold a bit. I don't believe Svoemesto won't release anything new in the next few months.

The bad taste has to come from somewhere. If it isn't residues from the manufacturing process then it has to be from the wicking or coil. These aren't exactly nasa technology devices...
