New Mod - Suggestions ? Comments ? Dual Pistol Car Passthrough

Ok guys... need some input. Got frisky one day after making a box mod and I saw some of these at the local thrift store.

Samsung Phone Car Charger

I got the great idea of making a straight car passthrough without a USB to 12V cigarette lighter adapter... most of which are junk and are so varied on voltage (4.5-7.5) and amperage (.5 to 1.5).

Using 2 of these car adapters, a momentary switch and a 5V/1A regulator... I made this.

Might be a little voltage/current limited. Have you done "under load" tests?
If you didn't plan on using one of them Genuine Joye Attys (you know the 2.2 ohm ones), and used something that didn't need as much current, or a supply that had a little more current capability.
OK enough negative.

Cool, really cool. These things usually have better cords that a "commercial Chinese passthru" and would be more durable. The practicality is off the charts. You could use this anywhere you could find a ciggy-lighter jack (like neighbors car late at night for free vaping), or put a ciggy lighter jack on your motorcycle, 4 wheeler, guitar amp.
I will have to think about doing a copy of this.

Try and do some electrical performance tests and get back.

Get back Jack, that is cool

Oh, its wonderful... will try to get a vid up here soon on vapor production. I'm using an 901 atomizer, and it hits *really* nice. The same atomizer on a USB - 12v lighter usb adapter (5.5v +/-5 1A) and it produces about the same as that. Been using it in my car for about 2 months...

These "samsung" chargers I found are *not* sealed and are held together with a hex screw. Very easy to disassemble and rewire. Only problem with this type of mod is finding the chargers that use screws. :) I bought a batch of clearanced ones from Kroger at $0.69 each.. thinking this will be great... only to get them home and find out I cant get them open w/out breaking them.

I went back to the thrift store I got the samsung ones from... and bought 70 more. :) I have found kits at wal-mart in the auto section that is a plug for the car outlet that has a wire coming out of it... its got a screw and room inside from the looks, to put a regulator. Might get one of those in a few days and see what I can do with it....

And the cables... yes, they are *SUPER* durable. I've owned 3 USB passthroughs (standard 901) and both died within a month of getting them... one right out of the box (man they cram them things in those small boxes) had a short in the wire right at where it went into the enclosure.

After the second one died... I built my first passthrough.

Haven't looked back

A battery or pass thru will give an unloaded voltage, pretty easy to measure.
But loaded voltage, while the atty is energized, tells you how much is being delivered to vape with.
With your Mod it would be pretty easy to measure voltage while vaping.
With a regular e-cig battery I had to make a measurement port so I had access for voltage measurement with atty energised.

I picked up one of those from the junk store too but it's still laying here. I guess now after seeing yours I'll have to do something with it. Nice job.

Thank you... and everyone for the compliments.

I'll bust out my voltmeter tomorrow (if I can find it... moved and never unpacked a lot of stuff) If not... I'll go get one and report back in.

Seeing as though a cigarette jack puts out 12V/5A... I don't think I'm losing anything on the load, but we will see...

All I know is that its great vapor... the taste doesn't seem to be affected... and the hits are huge!

My next project is a juicebox mod. :) Look forward to that... Got a basic design down... working on tweaking it but it works great...

Did you see the video? LOL I need to learn to use youtube... seems easier to post videos.

Man I'm an uglee one.

If true then you really need to pay attention to which end you vent if you ever make one of them pipe bomb mods :)

Your lucky...I had to chop this one in half with a hot Exacto knife then sand it....but I just needed something quick.
