Banning
I ordered a USB Passthrough, received it before my Joye 510, and used it for a few days when the 510 arrived. Now it's fried, along with one of my 510 attys :(

It worked fine on my USB port at work, but not on my MacBook at home (drew too much power, and Mac OS disabled the USB port). So I used a USB-to-AC adapted (the one that came with my iPhone), and that worked great.

In my car, it didn't hit worth s***. Although the LED would light up, I only got a tiny bit of vapor off the atomizer. I figured USB-to-DC plug I used put out slightly less power than the passthrough needed to work effectively. I figured, "well, if I crank up the output, the passthrough will work better." If 5v is the stock, maybe I can get a 7v DC adapter (with proper wiring and USB port), and I'll be making super clouds of vapor!

Big mistake! First off, some sort of dyslexia kicked in and I got a 12V, 7A adapter thinking it was 7V. I also failed to heed the proper amperage requirements as well (1A would have been pushing it, but 7A!). I hooked up my rig and connected the passthrough along with an atty. I heard the atty sizzle (without pressing the passthrough switch), then nothing. The LED on the passthrough no longer worked, and when I hooked the atty to my battery, it was cold as a dead fish. Ka-put.

Thankfully, Radio Shack gave me a refund on the parts I bought :D My atty and passthrough, that's a different story

Yikes! Yeah that voltage is quite different!

I had the same issue with the 5v passthrough and my MacBook; wouldn't supply enough juice and it wanted to disable the port. Went out and got a pretty expensive wall adapter (Enercell 3-7.5v, 2A also from Radio Shack). Figured if I got something that was solid it'd preserve some PT lifespan. It's variable voltage from 3, 5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5v and the unit came with various connectors, but the female USB was additional. Cord is nice and long though!

Finally turned out the PT I got was messed up so MadVapes is sending me another. It was either all on and popping and hissing like mad, or dormant. The manual button never functioned... Great customer service from MadVapes though, they're gonna do a test before sending me another PT!

Best of Luck~

Remember the Amps on the power supply is the amount of current the power supply is capable of delivering. The amount of current that is drawn from the power supply is determined by the voltage and the resistance of the device (atty). Can't have too many amps on a power supply.

Your Joye 510 atty is about 2.2 ohms. It was the voltage that did you in :). glad you didn't catch fire

Received the 2nd 5v pt a couple days ago and I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

The Enercell variable 3-7.5v 2a wall outlet that I've been using isn't functioning with the pt at all. I plug it in @5v and the light blinks and stops, like it should, but When I push the button I get nothing. The cable on the outlet has multiple connectors for phones, etc and I'm using the female USB for the pt. It also has the ability to reverse polarity when aligning the head and when I do this there is no visual response from the LED on the pt, but it vapes like crazy without pushing the button. Did this the other day just to get a hit from 5 volts, but I think I ruined something...when I plug it back in to regular polarity (+) the LED stays on and there's still no response from the atomizer or manual button. Tried multiple wall outlets and even other 5v 2a rated wall units. Nothing. What's up with that?

I'd start a new thread but I think this may be the area to discuss pt frying issues.

In advance; thanks.
