IG-ED e. V. representatives will be in Strasbourg on Sep. 9, 2013. On this occasion we would like to hand out the petition "e-cigarette in danger" along with a list of the signatures to the President of the European Parliament, Mr. Martin Schulz. We are still awaiting a positive answer from Mr. Schulz.

As the IG-ED is registered with the EU Transparency Register and as members are accredited by the EP we will also watch the sitting of the parliament as visitors.

As many supporters as possible will by highly appreciated.

Let us send a clear signal, only united we will be able to achieve our goal!

Detailed info on the schedule and the possibilites of travelling will follow soon.

All petitions signed! Thanks for the relay.

Please, we need a massive contribution to Pétition AIDUCE. We're aiming for more than 50,000 signatures. Our days are counted, it takes only a couple of minutes to sign.
We are worried.
Indeed, the European Commission will vote for the future of e-cigs in about a month at Strasbourg, France.

The French government is planning to classify the e-cig as a "medicine" only available in pharmacies — no drugstores there, unlike in the US. Which means only A FEW e-liquid flavors will be available (3 to 5) with a nicotine range up to 4 mg at the most, and only one or two approved e-cig models allowed to be sold.
So to say, everything that makes the e-cigarette an attractive alternative to tabacco will be banned, controled — while smoked tobacco proved to kill 200 people a day — in France alone.

So for us Frenchies, no more of the hundreds of physical and web shops all over the country, who give good advice and help people get rid of a fatal addiction. Imagine… a smoker going to a pharmacy, asking for the only e-cig available: a 510 e-cig + pre-filled cartridge (remember the cotton wick, old veterans ?) with a no-name tobacco flavor. Think of the chances for that person to quit smoking. This is the death of e-cigarettes as a healthier way out, man, the death of thousands of aspiring vapers.

Extend this scenario to most of the Europan countries, and you get the picture. Might be concerned countries such as :

Austria
Belgium
Bulgaria
Croatia
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Ireland
Italy
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malta
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
Sweden
United Kingdom

Also, after this European meeting, there is a chance the e-cig will be taxed as a tobacco product. An equivalent catastrophy scenario for us vapers, as all vaping products will cost twice or thrice their current price (thus highly TAXED), and bound to be sold in 15 seconds (vs 15 minutes with proper advice in dedicated shops) , in tobacco stores. And much, much more negative impacts.

We are organising a massive rallying in front of the Parliament in Strasboug on the 8th — wait… now it's the 7th, it keeps changing, stay tuned! — so let's get together on October 7th, we will be pleased to welcome all of you there.
Thanks for the support, in a way or the other :)

Congrats guys!

This seems like a victory I'm a bit too far away to know what actually went down but from what I've been reading this is a good thing.

You guys made alot of the major tech sites here in the US, this one for example:
Europe rejects tighter regulations on e-cigarettes | The Verge

That's one of the top 2 tech sies in the US major coverage there!
