I would think the metal caps are more sturdy.You only have to replace the orings not the entire caps.
Honestly Gravity, from my experience it's just aesthetics. For instance, I have some PVs that are Stainless Steel and some that are Chrome so the matching metal end caps just look cooler. Personally I think the rubbers are actually better because you have 1/4 inch or so of seal surface on both the tube and the Cartomizer. The metal caps have a 1/32 O-ring on the outside, but more importantly 1/32 ring on the inside sealing off the Cartomizer.
When tanks leak, the tend to leak from the inside seal. The other thing about tanks, like these, is if you pull hard enough on the tank you can actually pop the Drip Tip and the hole tank assembly can slide right off the Carto. Then you have quite a mess as 3-5 ml of juice spill everywhere. The good thing is the Drip Tips generally do a good job of holding the tanks on the Carto. You just never want to use rubber Drip Tips or a loose Drip Tip on one.

Well, I've ordered a 3.5ml tank to use with my diamonds, just to see if it's worth doing. I suspect this would've been on my "vaping things I was never going to do" list, if I'd even known what a tank was. 
I did the same thing Iowa Gal and at first glance they both looked the same since the pics are so small (old eyes). The wording is identical with the exception of 1 word "Metal" and a different number code . When I went to enlarge the pics the metal caps actually had the pic of the tank with rubber grommets. Hence I notified Dohsma.

FYI folks, you can right click many of the product pix on V4L and "View Image", which will bring up a bigger picture, even if they dont have a "View Larger" link displayed. And sometimes the image will be different from the View Larger link.
Yeah, I realize its much lower resistance than both, but wasnt sure what the "dual coil" might do to offset or multiply the overall affect of much lower resistance.

Thanks for the photo Clover....but my diamond batteries will not stand up like the OMG..can these tanks be laid down, or would a person need to get a stand for them?
I lay mine down and its not a problem. just make sure everything is on tight so it doesnt leak.
