A brand new device shouldn't have dirty contacts and he said by taking the battery in and out of the provari he got different battery voltage readings. That's the reason I suggested a provari defect

The bottom cap on the provari completes the negative side of the electronics, any thing that interferes with it being able to fully complete the circuit can and does cause issues like the OP is experiencing.

Does anybody know about the Provari Power 2500 batteries? Ive been searching online for a UK vendor but am coming up short. Im buying a Provari soon and I guess I'll just have to go for the regular batteries for now.

Are they FastTech 'specials'? The IMR 18650 2000 mAh is the biggest ProVari battery on the ProVape site. I wouldn't use any other 18650.

those are old stock and provape dont sell them anymore so skip worrying about them
the AW2000 will be fine and should easily make it over a day in most cases.

If your really wanting to go outside of provapes recommended batts the panasonic 2900pd or pf button top is an amazing battery for the provari

Batteries : Panasonic High Drain NCR18650PD Hybrid 2900mAh Button Top

I just wanted to mention that the fact that it tells you the battery is dead, but then lets you use it after popping it out and back in is actually a feature of the provari. It cuts off battery use pretty conservatively to maximize long term battery life, but it resets and lets you drain it a little lower by removing the battery and putting it back in so that you don't get "stuck" somewhere with a dead battery. This is harder on the long term life of the batteries, but if you find yourself stuck away from a replacement battery it's a good thing to know.

Yeah, I read that in the manual. But these are "dying" all day, even shortly after charging them, and then the voltage reading is 3.6 (or even higher, sometimes lower) when I pop it back in. It shouldn't be doing that at 3.6 IMO.

Oh, I wasn't trying to imply you didn't have an additional problem, just passing on some info. I go through two 18650s in a day, can't really remember how long the 490s last, I still have a few, and use them around the house where I know I'll have fresh batteries to pop in, but that's about it.

Got it.

Two 18650s seems like a lot. It looks like the 490 is lasting me most of the day. On a work day, probably all day since I don't vape too much at work.

Just to follow up: I got an email from a support person first thing today, and she asked me a couple questions (to which I replied) and said that even though the unit is new, try cleaning the contact points.

Thing is, everything seems much better today. I went through one of the 490s from about 5-6am to 3pm, seems about right. Just put the other one in, it reads 4.2, and haven't had the same problem today.

Battery readings from the Provari seems more consistent and they aren't "dying" at 3.7 volts any more. No idea ...

Just an update for anyone curious (which might be nobody). :)

I talked to customer service, and they were great. After I explained everything, they thought I should send everything back to them for inspection and possible repair.

I don't want to do that since I do love this thing so far, and what was happening (the battery being reported as dead when it's not) isn't happening nearly as often. It only happened once yesterday, and with just one of the batteries.

I wish it weren't happening at all, and we'll see how today goes. I also am getting about 6-8 hours of battery live on a 2.6 coil. Longer actually on a workday.

I will say the batteries do charge quickly in the charger I have, at least according to the indicator lights. It only takes about 1.5 hours it seems.

I told the customer service rep, Kim, that I'd rather wait and she assured me it's under warranty for a while, and I can always send it in later (after I purchase another one of course, which I plan to do ... I like to have two handy for easy flavor switching, although switching tanks isn't really that much of a hassle on this unit).

Do you have a backup?

One of the things I read all the time around here is how helpful members are.
With that said- you need to send it back to ProVape as soon as possible.

Sure, I get that you love your ProVari a lot but the fact your initial problem is still happening should be cause for concern.
The fact that it's happening less doesn't negate the fact it hasn't stopped completely.

The other thing talked a lot about is safe battery practices and right now, you're not being safe.
Bad can show you pics of how things can go bad (no pun intended) in a heartbeat.
Enjoying your ProVari isn't worth the risk of something going terribly wrong while being held in your hand or being in close proximity to your face.

I'm not trying to scare you; then again maybe I am.
Turn around time is about a week.
For your own sake and safety send it it.

Next time you update us I hope it's to say you sent it in now as opposed to waiting until you have another one.

I put a cell phone next to my face all the time, and I suppose that's risky too.

I have two Ego twists and pen-style E-cigs from when I started this, so I do have backups.

I'll send the Provari in when I get around to it, but it probably won't be until I order another one, or a mini.

Anyway, this problem hasn't happened since I wrote about it last and may just have to do with batteries not getting fully charged. I appreciate the concern, but everything seems to be working normally now, and I don't think the Provari misreading battery voltage is such dire cause for alarm. I'd like to know the stories associated with the pictures you posted.

I heard of a guy (I read it on the internet, so it's definitely true) who blew half his face off with an e-cigarette.
