I just received a reo grand and rm2 yesterday. Since then i have tried a few different micro coil with cotton setups and i consistently have the same problem, very little flavor. Prior to this i have been using an aga t2 and igo l so i understand coil making. I started with nicotickets cls with 29g 8 wrap horizontal microcoil wicked with cotton. No flavor good clouds and nice throat hit. Rewicked tried genny joose same problem no flavor everything else is good. Tried xobe reverse diver 29g 10 wrap with vapetriks nannas cream better flavor but still very muted. On a scale of 1-10 flavor is probably a 2.

So does anybody have any input on why and what i can do to fix it? Am i supposed to wash out the bottles it came with first different coil designs etc. etc...

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Ok, I've seen this mentioned LOTS of times lately, only the advice given is opposite to my experience. The lower the coil, the mellower the vape. Sweeter, more muted, gentler. The higher the coil (the more air that's allowed to pass UNDER it), the more the high/treble notes of flavor pop, more TH and the more acidic flavors come to the fore.

I followed nerak s advice and move coil closer to the posts and flavor got significantly better. I originally had the coil as close to the hole without shorting and had good throat hit and vapor just a lack of flavor. Moved coil back and got better flavor been vaping it all day. I will say that it is a very mellow vape. I think once i get some thicker wire and lower coil resistance all will be perfect.

Have you tried twisting whatever wire you already have? I was running a 0.7 ohm coil, flavor was good, vapor was decent, but I just wanted more.
Not enough wraps for my liking even with 28 gauge wire. I usually like to run at least 8 wraps - feel like more surface contact creates more/better flavor. So I twisted up some 28 gauge wire, I think 8 wrap, coming in at 0.6 ohms. Plumage is sick, flavor is best I've ever tasted this juice.
Not the prettiest coil I've wrapped (or the best photo I've ever taken), but here goes anyway:

A drill would probably work best/fastest, but I was just playing - took a long length of 28awg kanthal, folded in half, pinched the two tag ends with needle nose pliers, slid a screwdriver into the loop end and turned the wire until I got a fairly tight twist. Then just made an 8 wrap 1/16 id micro coil as I normally would.
Definitely a little more fiddley to wrap tight and pinch the coils together, but absolutely worth another try.
Takes an extra second or two to cool down, but I haven't noticed any extra burnt gunk on my coil or wick as of yet.

Thanks for the input so far. Ill try to get some pics up tomorrow if i am still having problems.

Try something like this.

One piece of Ekowool through the coils, one piece of rolled cotton between the coils.

All in all, this set-up (which I'm using now) produces the best flavor I've experienced, and produces more vapor and bigger clouds than my genesis style attys. It's running at 0.6ohms.

Edit: I also have my air hole drilled out to 1/8" to compensate for the low resistance.

Been experimenting a bit since I've been getting the same issue with muted flavors. I'm getting hints of the acidic flavors on my favorite Blueberry juice, but just a hint, and almost none of the sweetness. I know it's not vaper's tongue since I can taste the juice just fine on my other mod which is running an Immortalizer (with a similar coil setup).

Experimented with coils closer to the posts and further out. I found that running the coils close to the air hole gave good vapor and better flavor than moving it closer to the center of the atty. Still muted though. The lower coil did improve flavor, but going too low killed vapor production so I settled with a tilted coil.

My current setup is an 8-wrap 28G micro (around 0.8 Ohms) on a 1/16" drill bit. Here are photos:

From the top:

I have it moved next to the squonk hole to make it easier to saturate the wick. Should I go even further out?

I also took another off super_X_drifter's book and used an old Grand bottle's o-ring to help line-up the air hole with the coil better:

The setup produces quite a bit of vapor with the cap off. I wonder, is the stock air hole too small? Would increasing the air hole size to let's say, 1/16" improve flavor?

Advice needed. :) Thanks!

I run a 1/16" air hole on all my RBAs. I like a slightly looser draw than stock.

I get amazing vapor production running 90% VG liquid.

My setup is very similar to yours. coil is basically in line with the juice hole and parallel to the posts. I gently slope the coil so it's higher on the juice hole side.

Drip tip may also come into play - I run a short Delrin tip that has a fairly large bore. It is from RTD vapor.

Here's a plan view of where I run the coil:
