I apologize for the lack of pics - will fix that soon ;)

In the meantime, everything works fine when I test things out immediately after putting in a charged battery, with the RM2, at 1.1 ohms.
Twice now, I have burnt springs. The first time I try to vape later, after taking the REO out of my pocket or wherever, I get a half-assed vape, and the battery starts clanging.

FWIW, I am an electrical engineer by training, and I have verified that there is no short between the negative (the screw that holds the spring in place) and the positive (the metal contact for the switch). The rba shows up at 1.12 ohms consistently.

What am I doing wrong?

As with anything, I am more than willing to pay my way through a learning curve, but I do hope this is a robust solution. This is almost my Hail Mary to see if I can get something to work. Else its back to sucky eGO batteries and cartos :(

I've never seen a short between the positive contact and the spring. So we can rule that out. However, those pictures you are showing are cause for concern. Usually any shorts that occur are the result of either within the atty, carto or RBA attached or in the connector itself. Given the shape of your device, I would think it is most likely occurring in the connector. That photo of the connector looks wrong on several levels....almost as if the center post is missing. So there are a couple things that you can do. You can buy a repair kit and replace the parts yourself....or you can send it in to Rob for a tune up. Repairs always take priority so it would be a quick turn around. Personally, if it were mine, I would send it in for repairs. When it comes back it will work like new.

That metal piece being the 510 connection? The "gunk" is normal. Your's looks less tidy than other "gunks" I've seen. Anyway, it belongs there. But, I must say, I'm lacking some info here. Are you experienced with rebuildable atomizers? The wire tails must be clipped short or bent up against the post. If your positive wire is left loose and touches atomizer rim, body, cap, or such, you get a short (melting your hotspring)... If your drip tip is metal, and seats too deeply into your cap, it's bottom can touch the positive post of the atomizer . . . .

was there a small silicone bushing under the positive 510 post? seated on the hole of the 510 connection. (there should have been a white teflon washer under the post's head, and a translucent silicone bushing under that, seated on and in the hole)

Since I bought it used I have sent an email to the support email to see if he will be kind enough to "service" or fix this for me. We'll see. :)

Sev,

Rob's CS is unparalleled.
Prepare to be astounded.

While you wait, get to the PO and pick up a flat rate box and some bubble wrap.

Have fun

I forgot to post here. So, what happened was I sent the Reo in after Rob very kindly agreed to service it for me. $20 and postage later, I couldn't be happier.

I can see myself not obsessively buying that new mod|atty|shiny anymore. Since I got it back, the Reo Grand's all I been vaping. No shorting, no burnt out springs.

Thanks Rob, I really am amazed by your customer support. Way to go!

sevar, we're NOT suprised at all that 1) you're pleased with the CS, and 2) the REO is your new best friend. Ha. So glad you got it sorted out. Doesn't it just give you the best vape in the whole world? Especially with the RM2.....nothing better. Now when you want to buy a new mod, you'll want to buy another REO.....that's just the way it works. Happens to all of us....we all have SEVERAL (to say the least. Ha.)

If the short only occurs when you're firing; I'd say you need to look at the action of the firing pin (the leaf-spring that touches the battery top and is attached to the +post at the 510). It may not have the insulator sleeve on it that prevents it from touching the body in it's midsection. (middle of pic). Or that sleeve may be damaged.

This pic is a modded version, but you see where the body is closer to the pin. The delrin cover pushes it up in that midsection; then, flexing it at button press, may make it touch the shoulder of the body in the middle there.

what size this screw? i broke my 510 connection and i can not buy repair kit now.i am waiting subohm kit also have some custom problems in Türkiye these days.
