Hello Everyone..I recently joined the REO family (a red/black Grand from the classifieds) and as soon as I put this cutie pie in my hand, I understood what I've been reading for the past few months about the tactile sensation and solid feel. I love running my thumb all over it and frankly, the feeding system was a snap to learn...blind squonking is just fantastic. The only issue I am having, and it's significant, is with inconsistent contact...it fluctuates between non-existent/weak, delayed/fluctuating during firing (no matter how hard or softly I press), and perfect. This is regardless of the freshness of the battery. Firstly, I looked up there and noticed some grunge on the firing pin and cleaned that..no good. Then I noticed that the metal firing piece was not really squared up with the hole (kinda catching on the side). The seller on the classys mentioned that he had disabled the on/off function of the button, so I thought I would open her up and have a look see.

There was a little more grunge/oxidation? up in there which I cleaned, and I swiveled the firing piece a little so that it wouldn't catch on the edge of the positive battery pin hole. I also noticed juice inside the plastic sleeve that surrounds the firing pin but did not clean that out..anyway, none of this seems to have worked. Sometimes she fires beautifully, but mostly not....big delay, weak connection, no connection at all...big frustration. It seems like this would be a simple fix..I mean there's not a lot of moving parts..lol..is it possible the juice in the plastic sleeve is the culprit?..or maybe something to do with the removal of the on/off feature? It's definitely not the atty/carto either. does the same thing on 306's, i06's, mini cartos, you name it.

anyway, I know this will get fixed and let me just say that this a BEAUTIFULLY built device...down to the little cutout that lets me get my paws on that 18650 for removal, the way the magnets grab the door at the last moment..nice touches Rob, and thank you for all that you do. I have a mini on the way to try out and will be hopping on the VV Grandwagon as soon as the delays are resolved..I'm thinkin' black with a silver door...oh crap, I'm starting to dream!

Make sure the firing pin has a point and is pointing downward through the hole..I would also use an emery board or something and scuff the tip. If you have naolox, put a dab on the tip and see if this helps. If not, then the scuffing in and of itself should suffice for now. If this still doesn't help, then it might be in need of a trip to Rob to get it right for you.

Dave, you're a genius, a genius I tell ya...scuffed the tip with some fine grit paper and a touch of Noalox and oh yes, 20 or 30 hits in a row now, just perfect...finally getting that crisp firing sound instead of a slow run up to voltage like I was getting before..even though I cleaned the tip with alcohol, it wasn't enough. Still needed a light sanding..this seems to be solved. Thanks.

I love my i06's, but I just picked up a bunch of these 1.7 shorty cartos in a co-op and I must say these things are really, and surprisingly, great

What Dave said. If you can't get it working well on your own, send it to Rob. He'll fix it up good as new and get it back to you fast.

Put a note in the package with a description of the trouble you're having, your name, address, and paypal associated e-mail address. Also, I can't recommend enough that you get a delrin button top for your Grand. If you do send it in, tell Rob you want one. If you don't send it in, order one!

Edit: just saw your post that a little sanding helped matters. Cool! You can also lightly sand the contacts on your batteries, too, if you think they might have oxidation buildup. Happy vaping and welcome to Reoville.

Thanks Mudflap...it now seems to be working perfectly, and I just received a couple of button tops in today's mail...yes, it pays to read all of these threads..lol. now that she's firing strong, I'll be installing the top as soon as I finish this post..

Hertford is up west of Nags Head right?..I'm down on Topsail Island, about 25 miles north of Wilmington...whatta day we had today, just beautiful.

You are correct! I've been to Topsail and Wilmington many times. I'd have to say Ocracoke Island is my favorite place of all the Outer Banks.

I love Ocracoke too, as long as I'm on a bicycle. 20 or 30 years ago, a car was OK, but now...forget it. For year round living, Hatteras and Ocracoke are just a little too far out there.

hey, thanks for all the welcomes...you folks are great..still firing perfectly all morning..even took my new sweetie walking with the dogs on the beach. My crab digging dog Joey is there pounding on a big hole, digging away, and there I am standing next to him, pinky on the bottom, thumb on the top, RAWR peach serum loaded up, vaping away.....smiling.

what a beautiful little creation we have here...

I've been vaping since about January (well, more seriously than kr808's, that is)..multiple eGo's, including Twists, Rivas, Buzz x 2, Shan Mod VV, 2 other plastic VV box mods, a Sneaky Pete, a variety of tanks, naked cartos, various attys, drip shields, cones, adaptors, 50 or 100 (who's counting?. LOL) different juices.....recently finally got into bottom feeders, Phids specifically, which are beautiful to behold...oh, also a Hog Box.

but I just have to say, this REO Grand is my best experience yet. The feed system is beautifully designed, rewarding subtlety, not force. It feels perfect in my hand, carries 6ml on board in a compact design, is obviously almost indestructible, has great customer service, and a great resource of users here on ECF...what more could a body ask for??

Do I sound stoked? I'm a piano player, and this thing is like playing a perfectly tweaked keyboard action playing a perfectly tuned set of new strings as opposed to sitting at an old, marginally tuned, beater upright with a too low seat, sticky action from beer being spilled on the keys, and a fat, drunk old guy shouting in your ear "hey, play 'Feelings', would ya?...

thanks again all you residents of Reoville
