FDA Report Validates Previous Scientific Data. Findings Verify Claims By Manufacturers That Electronic Cigarettes Are Safer Than the Leading tobacco Brand Cigarette.
On July 22, 2009 the FDA released the results of its own independent study of the electronic cigarette. The findings verify previous test results (1) which validate the electronic cigarette is up to 1,400 times safer than the leading brand of cigarettes. This is GREAT news for Electronic Cigarette users.
Previous studies on the e-cig (verified by the FDA Report) show that electronic cigarettes only contain very low levels (8.2 ng/g) of tobacco-Specific Nitrosamines versus 11,190 ng/g for the leading tobacco cigarette.

Perhaps even more important than the findings of the FDA is what the FDA did NOT find.
The test did not reveal any of the 60 other known carcinogens (shown below)2 that are found in traditional tobacco products nor stated any other new dangers or findings that could conclude that the electronic cigarette is dangerous.

Dr. Michael Siegel MD, Boston University states “The FDA and anti-smoking groups are comparing electronic cigarettes to a solution of spring-fresh Maine mountain stream water. What they need to compare electronic cigarettes to is something known as a Marlboro cigarette.”

Dr. Siegel continues, “In addition, recent research conducted by Dr. Murray Laugesen and Health New Zealand, LTD. reveals that the toxic emissions score for electronic cigarettes is much lower than that of conventional cigarettes. In fact, the toxic emissions score - which is a score based on the levels of 59 priority toxicants was zero for electronic cigarettes. In contrast, it was 126 for Marlboro and it was no lower than 100 for any brand of conventional cigarette tested.”

*Note- This is not a report conducted by Smokeless Delite, this was sent to us via email from another source. All findings and reports are those of independent studies not supported by Smokeless Delite. All findings are not on behalf of Smokeless Delite Inc.

well its proving that electonic cigarettes are 1400 times better than traditional cigarettes. So why didnt this hit the national news......better yet global news.

This won't hit the news any more than who was behind the grassy knoll will hit the news. The government doesn't want the people to be educated. Just puppets that they can tax to death.

If enough of us pound the news media with this data, then eventually a sharp eyed reporter will catch up on it and maybe, just MAYBE, it will end up on a mainstream news site on page 10.

My heart jumped into my throat reading that. Now it's somewhere else, don't know where....
Dr. Siegel did a fine job, but I was hoping my eyes weren't playing a trick on me:

FDA Report Validates Previous Scientific Data. Findings Verify Claims

Maybe one day this will happen for real. I have copied and put in my file, thanks much ladyraj!

However, what this calls for is the FDA working with the electronic cigarette manufacturers and distributors to study the product and address the identified problems. It does not call for the FDA to ban the product or pull it from the market.

This is exactly the lesson that should have been taken from the findings, but instead, the FDA issued it's statements in such a way that it fed the anti smoking groups with all they needed to take the ball and run with it.

There is not a level playing field, either, because the anti's have funding via the tobacco tax. Still we keep going,,,,

In my opinion, somehow and someway we need to get a major investigative journalist interested in this story. A nice 60 minutes report by Mike Wallace, or maybe a Newsweek piece by someone who gives a crap about truth and honesty and fairness.

Without that, we're just flailing in the wind.

Letter Sent to Anderson Cooper (CNN.com - Send an I-Report) GO SEND ONE... lets see if we can get some attention!!!!

"I do not know if you have been following the latest from the FDA... But you can bet that those of us that are using the e-cigarettes have been following and paying very close attention.

"New Report from the FDA- Electronic Cigarettes safer than Cigarettes by the FDA" is the latest we have gotten on the whole thing... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...nic-cigarettes-safer-than-cigarettes-fda.html

The last report by the FDA said that they were unsafe (which we all knew was bull) and I cannot verify that the FDA itself said any of this... can you???? We need some air time... these thing can save lives... I have no doubt, I used to smoke 2 packs a day... I am now vaping...

WE NEED SOMEONE WITH A VOICE TO HELP US HERE... we are already losing a huge battle here in Oregon... I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO Regular cigarettes... Please assist us with getting the truth out...

Thanks for your time"

Cowphin,
Mine Also sent to Anderson Cooper (CNN.com - Send an I-Report) GO SEND ONE... lets see if we can get some attention!!!!

Letter sent below:
I want to help more people to become aware of the electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes. These are alternatives to traditional tobacco smoking. At present, there are several issues at stake with the FDA and the new laws. There is a huge court battle waging right now, between two major suppliers and the FDA. This battle is being kept quiet for the most part, I am guessing due to pressure from the Tobacco Industry, the FDA, the Anti-Smoking Lobby and those politicians involved with the Tobacco Industry. There are those eCig users who are trying to spread the word about the FDA's misleading report, and the actual facts that were misconstrued by the wording in the report. We are trying to get the word out to the public, they deserve to know about this whole issue.

The truth of the matter about electronic cigarettes needs to be heard, and no one seems to be willing to speak out, because of the FDA's or Tobacco Industry's influence. Someone must be willing to get the truth out to the masses. People deserve to know there is an alternative to traditional tobacco smoking.

Here is a link to the recent comparison by Dr. Michael Siegel medical physician who specializes in preventative medicine and Public Health with a focus on tobacco control, amongst other tobacco related contexts:
The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary: Comparison of Carcinogen Levels Shows that Electronic Cigarettes are Much Safer Than Conventional Ones

Many people such as myself are using eCigs as an alternative to regular tobacco smoking. I myself have cut down from 2 1/2 packs a day, to about a pack, and am slowly working to completely quit regular tobacco smoking. Vaping, as using an electronic cigarette is called, is a way for me to enjoy the aspects of traditional smoking, without the dangers of second hand smoke, the smell of regular tobacco smoke, and without breaking any laws, wherever I am.

Moonport Productions Pressroom 1 - FDA Report Validates Previous Scientific Data on Electronic Cigarettes.

Studies have been done in New Zealand, at Auckland University, that shows the electronic cigarette is much safer than the traditional tobacco cigarette.

We need the truth to come out about electronic cigarettes, and be heard from a reliable trusted source. Please help us get the truth out to the masses.

I hope you decide to move forward with an in depth look at the electronic cigarette. and get the information out to the public, despite the pressures from the Anti-Smoking Lovy, the FDA, the Tobacco Industries and the politicians who are supporting them.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Great idea, maybe we'll get lucky, and this is what I sent...

I understand that you have been sent some requests to help us get the true story of electronic cigarettes out to the general public. Many links have been sent to you that might hopefully pique your interest in what proves to be a very big story should you start to dig into it.

But I just want you to read this, and I can only hope it moves you...

Good one Deadcat...

WTG PEOPLES... let do all we can to get this on the air!!! *keeping my fingers crossed*

Yes getting it on the air would be critical for all e-cigarette users! The PR needed for these findings would really stop all the negative publicity!
