Got vape mail in including some 30-gauge kanthal wire and my new RSST. I had also ordered some 400 SS mesh but that hadn't come in yet so I decided to give it a go with a cotton wick. My first attempt of 6 winds gave me a 1.52ohm coil, perfect for my APVs. Awesome!

I did drill out the airhole slightly as it is way too tight for my preference and may drill it out just a bit more but's vaping very nicely. Something interesting I noted that after prining the coil and filling the tank with e-juice the resistance dropped to 1.39ohms. Not a problem but I didn't expect that!

I see this is a popular thread! :p

I do have an observation maybe someone can chime in on; I am running about 10 watts to get the same vape/TH, etc. that I would ususally run 9 watts on my T3Ss. I know that higher watts usually mean more e-juice usage but I went through nearly a tank just reading the forum. Normally that much juice would last me almost a day! Are RBAs just known to go through juice like that? It's not burning on the coils or leaking out.

I've tried the mesh thing a few times in my RSST, and finally got an acceptable wick. I'll probably do it a couple more times just to learn the process and get better at it, but I can see myself switching to cotton soon.

Do you leave the fill plug in place? I've been removing it until the tank gets drained to the midpoint, and then reinstalling it so I don't have to be so careful about keeping it upright. If I don't remove it at the beginning of a tank, it seems like vapor lock sets in and prevents the wick from bringing juice out of the tank. Does that happen with cotton?

It may if you tend to chain vape but mostly cotton is very absorbent and will draw the juice up to the coils. I usually leave the fill plug in place with no issues.
