Hey all figured I'd get a couple opinions on my set up since I have the weekend to make adjustments if need be.

I ordered my first mech mod off fasttech about 3 1/2 weeks ago and it should be here soon so I figured I'd order some batteries since I'm ordering my brother a new set up as well. I got myself a dimitri box mod and need two batteries for it.

I chose to go with two Efest IMR 18650 2800 mAh 35A Dark Purple Flat Top Battery

So to start I don't really plan on going much lower than 0.25 ohms so with that in mind, I have read numerous reviews and opinions and can't decide if I should adjust my order.

So any feedback would be greatly appreciated

The Dimitri box is pretty advanced for your first mech mod and I think its parallel but I'm not positive. You need to know that for sure....That's the big one. Also, if I'm not mistaken you can run that mod on one battery...I dont know much about the fastech clone. I would suggest that you get to know ohms law and if you have an Android phone there are a couple good, free apps to have. #1 is Vapers toolbox and 2 is an Ohms law calculator. There's a pretty big debate on weather or not those batteries are actually rated for 35a. I prefer Sony VTC4's myself. You do know that even though the batteries we use say they are 3.7volts, they are actually 4.2v fresh off the charger. We just want you to be safe so please familiarize yourself with ohms law if you have not already, know if your mod is parallel or not and the true amp ratings of your batteries because @ .25Ω You could be vaping at over 280watts. That's more than a tad bit excessive. :D Safety first. Welcome to ECF!

@Vatic, what calculations did you use for your 280W number?

I might be missing something here but if we assume the battery stays at 4.2V as a worst case (it will drop lower than this though) then we get 4.2V / 0.25ohm = 16.8A. Running at 16.8A at 4.2V = 70.6W.

    Or, the other way to calculate the power, 4.2V * 4.2V / 0.25 = 70.6W.

The actual wattage would be lower than 71W though because the cell voltage would very quickly drop when firing. But, I agree with you, safety first. Always best to use 4.2V in the calculations to add a bit of safety margin to handle aging cells, higher room temperatures, etc. It seems that his Efests would be fine for this mod, especially if using two in parallel.

I think they're calculating it based on the box being run in series. 8.4V*8.4V/0.25Ω = 282.24W...

    Doh!
I thought the Dimitri was parallel and Vatic mentioned that too so it never occurred to me that the calcs were done for series. Thanks!

[edit] @Some Random Guy, could you confirm whether your box is wired series or parallel? If you're not sure, that's cool, just post a close-up of the interior without batteries in it.

The dimitri is dual parallel battery. I've read reviews saying it works with one battery and some people say it only works with two so I can't confirm that part for sure.

Thanks for the advice so far, its definitely not something I'm just gonna jump into. Just wanted something with more power than my MVP 3 PRO and I've heard numerous good reviews and have and have a friend that picked one up from fasttech a month ago and he says it was the best purchase he's made so figured I'd go with it.

The site also has LG he4 35amp 2600mAh batteries available Should I grab a pair of them instead?
