It should be able to take 18500 too. Provided we are talking IMR or equivalent. There is not much difference in size between the 2.

Yay! Thank you Jacoji! And yes, as long as it's IMR it should be fine. I would go with what they recommend though and do the AW brand 18490 IMR. The life difference won't be anything to notice.

I've only used AW protected 18500's and with the sleeve (which is sweet) the 18650 protected. AW's all the way baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never used an IMR in my SB. Might have to try it though. Oh and nice SB. Welcome to the club of a device your able to defend yourself with if the need comes up. The button is my favorite of all mine. No mis fires.

Thanks, and actually all of my batteries are AW brand as I agree it's worth the extra buck or 2 for the best. IMR is a type of lithium battery most of the brands make including AW and is required when using a Kick per the makers of the Kick (Evolv).
