Hey guys, I'm going to be (hopefully) rolling out v.06 later tonight, in anticipation of the re-launch tomorrow. This is a ground up rewrite in Node.js using websockets, so it is in realtime.

Changes include.
  • Realtime avejuice update engine™
  • Connected client counter
  • Realtime chat (prevents boredom whilst waiting)

I have it running on my development server right now, and I'll be pushing it out to the live server sometime later tonight.

The realtime site is live at realtime.is-ave-open.info.
It has a ton more functionality than the original ajax site, including a bored wookie chatbox.
Also the updates on site status get sent to the clients from the server, rather than your client asking the server if anything has changed over and over.

I have a few more additions and bug testing before I replace the original site with this version, maybe possibly before tomorrow.

I may have set this off earlier. If I did I apologize. I had to toggle the open/closed and test a new news message.

Oh no dude, you scared the .... out of me, I was not expecting that horn to go off. But hey at least I know the realtime site works....

On a side note, I have been messaging you everywhere, If you are going to be hitting an order limit daily this site is going to be a thing, I really really need to talk to you about making it more awesome.

Chat isn't working on interactive site. Also, seems to be lagging on the "Checking" portion.

Hmm, seems to be working for me, I can see the message you sent at some point earlier (I should add timestamps), what browser are you using?

The pause on "checking" is it actually lagging on checking, when you connect it sends the server "I connected, please check", then the server starts the checking function with a promise to send back when its done"

worst relaunch in history I'm afraid. So sorry to see it go this way....had such high hopes. I realize that you are at the mercy of your hosting provider, but unfortunately it doesn't make it any less disappointing...

I wish you good luck on getting the issues fixed. Hope you don't lose too many loyal followers in the midst of all this.

I am so frustrated with the lack of attention to detail.

Im more frustrated with people in this thread and others trying to tell AVE how to run their business. Theres a simple solution for that.....if you think you can do better ......open your own juice site.

Has no one here heard the expression "Too many chiefs and not enough Indians?"

They just opened the sites up to orders with a major caveat that it would be a test run while they worked the kinks out. Cut em some slack...or better yet wait a few weeks before ordering.

Personally I'm getting tired of people, telling people what they should or should not say/think/do on the internet. If you don't like what I or anyone else has to say about a subject, close the page.

Edit* Tell me I'm stupid, or suck or am a bad person. But take that "You shouldn't blah, because blab" or "Cut-em some slack cause skippety" out of here, it adds nothing to the conversation. Or I can take my own advice and you can say whatever you want.

I'm not hating on the guy, I know I cant make juice better, but he's not having any problems making the juice, what he is having problems with, I and a bunch of others on this site can do better.

A "little" bit of knowledge doesnt make you an expert except maybe in your own mind.

The only contribution that Ive seen you add to any thread in the AVE forums is to "stir the pot", foment trouble and make a stressful situation even worse by your incessant and unending complaints about the site design and how it's implemented.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's starting to question just exactly what your motives are either. First you blast Ben for not trusting his web redesign and sensitive information with amateurs (are you sore because you weren't offered the job?) then you create a website that's largely unneeded and also slows down AVE's page in the process, then you call Ben an idiot and proceed to insult loyal AVE customers who have been here since ECF first started.

I wont take anything "out of here". I have just as much if not MORE of a right to be here than you do and I sure as hell wont stand by while myself and others calling for understanding and sympathy not two days after launch of a brand new site are told we add nothing to the conversation. We add plenty, we just aren't helping your agenda.

Until VERY recently, these forums filled with loyal AVE customers were like family. Ben stopped in all the time to joke with us and share info, we traded juices back and forth and jumped at the chance to welcome someone new to the fold or to help them out. Thankfully, there are still plenty of us left and even with the website troubles we still outnumber people here to start trouble by a pretty large number.

The thing about families is, you take a shot at one of us..... you take a shot at all of us. I think you'd do well to remember that.
