UPDATE !!!

After using the mod for a while now, the firing button is starting to gather dirt, dust, debris inside the rotating switch. This is causing the switch to stick in the firing mode when depressed..
Bad News ...
I have to grab it and pull it back down to stop it.
This magnetic retractable button housing is opposite of the most other mods, the action is on the outside, instead of inside the tube, causing a place for debris to fall into and get trapped.
Without a way to do an easy take down and clean, it will render this mod useless..
I can not find out how to safely take the switch apart either without possibly breaking something.
It is not apparent in its assembly on what might come apart or if the whole switch unit is pressed in together and may loose its "grip" if I force it apart and try to reassemble it.
Blowing compressed air in there isn't helping much, probably a particle lodged itself inside.
I have sent questions to the place I bought mine from.
to be continued... :(

I got down to some serious cleaning today on the switch.
I boiled up some very soapy water, and then put the switch in the pot for about 10 minutes agitating it as much as I could.
I rinsed it all out and then went out to my shop and blew it out with about 120 psi of air. The grit that must have lodged itself inside the cup area finally blew itself out after a while and the switch resumed to move up and down again without resistance. I sprayed inside the the switch assembly with some LC Wax lubricant which dries to a waxy non sticky film.
I am happy to say that the switch is now functioning just fine, without any damage or wear.
I have been using it non stop for the past 4 hours.

I also received a surprise phone call from the vendor last night asking about the problem and wanting to know if I wanted a refund, a new mech. or just a new switch. ( He got my phone number from EBAY)

We chatted for a while and he is genuinely a vape friendly individual who was concerned about the new product and his customers.
He has been using his for 3 weeks now, and did not receive any other complaints so far.
He did personally Skype with Smoktech about the switch, the problem (potential problem) and it's workings. Smok has told him the switch is not serviceable and does not come apart without probably breaking it.

Looks like I have found a new vender that I can trust and a MOD that I can use again.
I hope the switch assembly really doesn't allow particles to wedge itself in there, and that I probably just had some left over machining metal that had gotten left behind.
Time will tell, and I am really liking the switch and the easy lock system.

Just got one of these tonight, and I love the skull. I am using my Kayfun Lite Plus in dripper mode on it right now.

Here is a pic...

Hi! I just wanted to say that I'm having a similar problem. My brass contact on the switch got an oxidized black ring causing it not to fire. I was reading posts about other mods and people were recommending sanding it off with a fine grit sandpaper. Because of the way the switch does not come apart this was not such a good idea. Some grit or shavings got in and rendered the button useless.

I chalked it up as a loss and ordered a different mod.

Today a read some other advice to use a pencil eraser. This worked beautifully, along with some vinegar on a q-tip. I alternated between the two a few times. The oxidization is more of less completely gone and it fires now, and hits hard.

I'm just putting this out there in case you or anyone else here runs into this problem and hasn't heard of this method.

The button works but it's still a bit... crunchy. I'll try the boiling soapy water method you mentioned, thanks in advance. Wish me luck!

Edit: 8 posts since 2009! If there's an "Ultimate Lurker" prize I think I won...

You might want to consider a thin coating of wax or polish on the material to help keep it from oxidizing in the future. Just a thin layer of the stuff because you don't want to effect conductivity and most wax or polish is an insulator. No-ox-id would be best.

Indeed I will, thanks!

So I soaked my switch in soapy water, (187°F)
It worked! Smooth as butter. Thanks again, Jules! I no longer have any regrets in purchasing this mod. I'm glad I had the Magneto a backup, it's a workhorse. The Fury-S definitely hits harder though. Probably less voltage drop I'd imagine? I don't have a in-line volt meter. Is it possible to test with a multimeter?

Now I have a Sage mod on the way too so win-win in my book. I'm excited to try that. It's a good day.

I still do have to clean out the switch from time to time, usually just blow it out.. But with just having to turn the switch one quarter of a turn in either direction to lock or unlock is definitely very nice feature.
Now a nice real smooth phantom brass edition would be killer , I love the patina......

I just bought a Smoktech Fury-S, and like a user mentioned earlier, I'm having problems with the ring inside the switch heating up. Also, the resistance across the switch (if I'm reading it correctly) is 0.4-0.5 ohms. I'm running a 0.9ohm build on it. The battery doesn't seem to be heating up, nor the tube - just the ring inside the switch.

Anyone else have this problem? If so, did you find a solution? I'm considering taking it back to the shop tomorrow.

That's strange. After cleaning my switch and the entire mod I'm able to run a 0.5 coil with no problems.
You're sure there is no moisture on the ring? Possibly a small bit of kenthal or something got into the inside of the switch?

I'd probably go get it exchanged like you said. That should not be happening, and is probably dangerous. That switch is defective one way or another.
Sorry for the bad luck. Hope you get it worked out soon!

Maybe you mentioned this before, but... what kind of batteries are you using?

After shop #1 refused to let me return the Fury-S, I went to another shop. Shop #2 gave me a VTC3 to test out. Heat issue wasn't completely GONE, but much improved. I've ordered 2 more VTC4s, so I'll have to see if that solves the problem.

What I don't understand, though, is why the battery would cause the switch - and not the battery itself - to heat up. Every time I detected heat I popped the battery out and checked it. Battery was never hot, just the switch.

I'm using VTC4's. I don't know, it sounds like something is shorting or something.

I haven't had a hot switch on my Fury, but my Magneto's switch was zapping my hand. I fixed that by completely breaking it down and cleaning the entire mod. It's was due to gunk in my threads and switch.

It's sounds like your Fury-S is brand new though? It couldn't be that dirty yet.

Have you tried soaking the switch in warm dish soap? All I can think of is that maybe a little piece of something conductive got into the switch at the factory.
