It don't matter what the study says, it don't matter that vaping is healthier than smoking. What matters is the tax revenues. They have to find a way to pick our pockets for vaping, any way they can. It's strong-arm theft under color of government.

It's not about what's bad for you, it's about what you enjoy, and they can't stand to see anyone enjoying anything they don't get paid for!

If they can't prove it's a health risk, they will invent some other reason to tax the snot out of us for it.

Just watch them.

It's hard not to get cynical, eh?

I am a member of Casaa and support their efforts wholeheartedly, but I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to be on the front line of this battle, face-to-face with the ignorance and outright corruption they deal with.

Thank goodness for their devotion and tireless efforts in this ongoing battle; I suspect our fight would be long-lost without them.

It's frightening to imagine what would be our current reality without them!

Smoking isn't nearly as bad for you as they suggest. They rationalize that if smoking leads to cancer and heart disease, and everyone dies of cancer and heart disease, then everyone who smokes must be dying from smoking. All the anti-smoking campaigns were political vessels to convince the public that they needed to be taxed out of existence.

E cigarettes may very be completely harmless or even healthy. It depends on your flavors, device, and nicotine consumption. If the flavoring is harmless, and your device isn't contaminating you with metals from the atomizer, and your nicotine consumption is around 10-20mg a day, then you should be healthier with them than without them.

The problem with tobacco is we let the government sneak into the industry. It's because government makes more money than big tobacco off tobacco, that you won't see tobacco go anywhere anytime soon. The continued resistance and attempted bans have been the result of government protecting its revenue.

I totally agree with you on this. They will never get enough money out of us, and they will never ever let it diminish. They are thieves, plain and simple. Thieves who have the power of the law behind them, and they will use it to rip us off to no end. I've always believed that one day they will bill us for oxygen, and cut us off if we don't pay up.

I say 7.8% is significantly higher than 5.3% I would also like to add if they would have been given ego batteries and a good kanger clearomizer the results would have been higher

Its been hard for me to quit analogs altogether. But until vaping I can't say there was anything out there that really could have got the ball rolling towards quitting.

I think its been harder because of all the stuff I have to buy up front. I've gone through 10 ml of e-juice in a day and half. The brick and mortar store charges me $14.00 for a bottle.

(bolding above mine) How so?

I can't speak to the various states, but at the federal level, there are no current revenue bills in the House of Representatives proposing to tax electronic cigarettes, and per the US Constitution, any bill proposing new taxes must originate in the House.

FDA is powerless to impose any kind of tax, fee, levy or any other means of raising revenue. That is solely the power of Congress, and it's a power that they will never delegate to an agency of the Executive Branch.

Certain agencies, such as the IRS, EPA, US Army Corps of Engineers and OSHA can impose fines, but only after due process determination that the individual or organization being fined has violated federal law.

States are a different animal altogether.

This article might shed some light on why the politicians and FDA fight eCigs so hard. Discovery Health "How can nicotine be good for me?"

Please note, that already a few states are banning nicotine itself. Florida?

You are probably referring to Flagler County's proposed ban on nicotine use for county employees.

The state of Florida itself has taken no action (that I know of).

.

What you said! I have used the gum and lozenge. And actually I used them for places I could not smoke. I remember on a jet flight, I once ate 6 of them in a row after a 4.5 hr flight. True story.

I got real sick last year and needed to stop smoking. I could not even IMAGINE what that would be like. My mom sent me an article she cut out from the news paper about ecigs. (It was blu or such cig alikes) But I looked up ecig and ECF came up. 10 month off now.

Tobacco researcher Murray Laugesen says the Government is standing in the way of smokers' human rights by making it difficult for them to obtain a product that could help save their lives. "They're entitled to obtain them as a lifestyle product without going to the doctor. You wouldn't have to go to the doctor to buy diet Coke," he says. "The whole thing is a tragic farce for smokers."

I don't like to hear about any ban on nicotine, anywhere, especially in Florida. This can be how it all starts. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Nice!

I put a piece of nicotine gum into my mouth while on a plane a year ago - thought
a few minutes later I was having a heart attack, seriously. I couldn't spit it out
fast enough.

I had the same experience until I read the directions. You're not supposed to chew it like regular gum. If you do that all the nicotine is put into your body at once. Your supposed to chew it 5-6 times and then stuff it in between your lips and gums...similar to chewing tobacco...leave it there for a bit and then repeat the process.

I'm not exactly sure but I think I'm at about 4 weeks of no smoking. The gum didn't work for me either. The patch on step 1 worked for me and was hard but not too unbearable. When I went down to step 2 though it was a whole different story and started smoking again 2 or 3 days into step 2. The need a step 1.B or something :)

I like vaping because I get the hand and oral fixation thing worked out and it still seems like I'm smoking. That's why it's worked for me. I also like how you can order different nic levels or even mix flavors with different levels to lower the nicotine. I've gone from 30mg to 24mg. I sometimes mix in some 18mg with 24mg so even in 4 weeks I've cut down quite a bit.

Correction, it is a county or two.

As I go through the job ads here in Florida there are employers testing applicants for nicotine. Note that they don't test for any of the other 400+ evil chemicals in cigarettes. Nicotine turns up in certain foods, like potatoes.

What this will likely result in is states, and ultimately the Federal government, taxing nicotine by the milligram, and not because it's particularly unhealthy in the amounts you enjoy, but because they can, because you enjoy it, and they have to be PAID FOR THAT!!!!

I just called a friend and confirmed that at the medical practice she works for, here in Palm Beach County, they are testing all new hires for nicotine and will not hire anybody, no matter how qualified they are, if they test positive.
