Ok, so my new Volcano Inferno kit arrived!

I plugged in both batteries to get a good charge on them, playing with the pass-thru USB battery to start with.

I bought an extra low-res atty to accompany the one that comes with the kit (I opted for both the drip kit AND the tankomizer). 1st order of business was to reverse-blow out the attys really well including the tank-o (man did a lot of shipping liquid come out of the tank-o). I took one of the new attys and loaded it with about 10 drops of fluid to drown it and let it sit for 10 minutes, then reverse-blew the excess out. I also took a few q-tips and cleaned up the inside of the atty being careful not to touch the actual element and the inside of the tank-o (not using the tank just yet).

Put a couple of drops in the atty, put it all together and.... VAPEAGE! :vapor:

Not a nirvana moment, but pretty darn surprised at the sheer volume of "smoke". Took a slow, constant drag (thanks for the tips) vice trying to suck the cord thru the battery, actually resulting in a little but of a cough on the very 1st drag since I was not prepared for it!

Now a couple of dumb and VERY basic questions...

1. On a normal Inferno (low-res) atty, how many drops should I use at a time? No liquid in the mouth just yet dripping 2-3 drips, but no frame of reference at the moment.
2. How long (or how many "drags") should those drops last?
3. What should I be sensitive to (taste or performance wise) to "re-drop"?

The initial impressions are very favorable. The Volcano Tobacco - Full flavor juice to my infantile taste buds is descent with a little bit of burnt-marshmalow taste; pretty good overall. Slight chemical flavor but I am guessing that is just because of the super-newness of the entire setup.

Thanks!!

1 - I am not an expert dripper. I do 2-3 drops at a time. If I flood the atty I blow it out and reprime with liquid. I mostly use cartomizers and I drip to test juices and vape some thicker and occasional juices.

2 - Depends on how much your atomizer vaporizes per second, how big your mouth and lungs are, etc. No idea.

3 - pay attention to atty/vapor getting abnormally hot or any off-taste, plus of course if the vapor gets light. Again I am no expert.

And tips
- never screw anything in further than necessary to contact and work. That goes for screwing things onto the battery and screwing battery onto charger.

- Buy some Boge cartos and learn to use them. Put clingy flavors in cartos or a separate atomizer (like cloves, cinnamon). I know cinnamon can damage plastic so only use in metal things. And if you ever manage to be caught without a working atomizer, the cartos are good backup. I find juices with 20% or less VG work best in these cartos. slightly higher will work but carto probably won't work well as long.

Thanks Mouse, confirmed what I thought...

Another issue- I think the atty is dead already! :(

Initial setup and priming done from tips here

Was working perfect (for all of 10 minutes) and suddenly nothing. Checked with another battery, nothing. Swapped to the other atty- working great. I checked it again with varying levels of "tightness" to make sure with nothing! Even checked the base connection from this tip

Could I have done something to friggin break it already?! Again, the 2nd one is working fine so far, half-hour later...

Ok... now I am a little annoyed.

2nd atty also dead. No, not kidding...

I did get in touch with Volcano; they are sending two replacements out. Apparently they got a bad batch of them in and are replacing them later this week. If you are in the market for a low-res atty from Volcano they won't ship for a couple of days as a heads-up.

Yes, perturbed but the CS was excellent- no questions asked and advised me that there would be a slight delay in replacing them to get the new (hopefully more reliable) ones out. I know stuff happens and so far Volcano has been pretty good for CS; hope it stays that way and I'll stick with them.

Thankfully, have a tank loaded up now with their Choconilla Haze juice and continuing to tape, learn and enjoy! Oddly, the tank setup has a firmer draw but more "hit"; Not what I expected causing a bit of coughing if not careful!

I think I need a glass of water already....:vapor:

Bad batch of attys would explain bu teven with the prime which it sounds as if you did extremely cautiously. if it gets just the slightest bit dry early it could burn out. my first couple hours with a new atty i make sure i lose a little bit of juice out of the bottom just to get completely saturated. even if i suc a little id rather do that than spend another 5 to 8 bucks. keep it wet brother

That was incredibly fortuitous of you to get tanks and an extra atty. WTG!! You did your homework. Bummer that your attys were duds but you have backups with your tanks. Never can have too many backups. Congrats on your transition to vaping. You may want to watch a few atty YT videos. Dripping is wonderful once you get the hang of it. An atty can last months and months and worth the learning curve imo. Look forward to reading more of your vaping adventures.

I have to add (maybe pile-on) that Volcano was very good with a call about the failed attys. No run-around and very helpful, sending two new ones as soon as they are available.

I have been using the tank setup for the 1st full day and have been pleased. I do note the "muted" flavor some have described (compared to the little dripping I was able to try) but not a detractor in my extremely limited frame of reference. The capacity a tank offers is great, especially at work and during the commute. No real issues with tank leaking, just a little moisture on the exterior of the tank when I pulled the spent one out. Only "complaint" if you want to call it that, is the much firmer draw on the tank vs. the dripping atty. I did try removing the battery o-ring with no noticeable change. The firmer draw is not a nuisance just different and it does not produce the same warm blast of vapor compared to dripping; just the nature of the different setup especially considering I was using low-res attys.

I will be receiving the Magma (510) kit tomorrow which will include some "clearomizers" along with the Magma tank system. Good chance to compare yet another setup and I have to assume the carto setup will be a balance of the two; easier draw and more vapor similar to dripping but adding the liquid capacity (no where near the capacity of a tank). I say that based only on info from here...

Thanks for the advice and all of the pre-purchase guidance! I realize there are cheaper options than Volcano brand for the same/similar equipment but I have no complaints so far!
