me and the girlfriend have decided to stop smoking and started using disposable e-cigs from the gas station. she picked up the metro brand one as a recommendation from the attendant as a good menthol one, and i grabbed a "logic platinum" based on the fact that it advertized a higher nicotine content than anything else in the store (2.4% - woohoo).

we have since ordered a joye 510-t kit from online and are waiting for it to arrive. based on what little info ive gleened since starting my education on ecigs, a manual battery is preferred over automatic, but im unsure as to wich i would personally like as ive only had experience with auto thus far. one of the questions i have is that ive learned i can recharge all of the these disposable batteries (and have- used one all day today at work on a 10 hr shift after recharging it for 3 hrs on a usb charger) and was curious if it would work with the joye atomizer if i find id rather rock the auto at times.

my second question is simple... should i have gotten the "non t" instead? or is the 510-"t" a better setup than it predecessor? i had the option of either.

Well if the batteries from the disposable batteries are 510 threaded, then you won't have a problem. However, I don't believe many disposable gas station e cigs are 510 threaded, so you will need an adapter for it to work. They only cost a dollar or two.

And its all a matter of preference for the 510 vs 510t. 510t uses the spike in the atomizers, and the cartridges don't use filler material. They are easier to fill up because you don't have to wait for filler material to saturate. The downside is that people complain about them leaking. I used to use a 510t, and never had a bad leaking issue.

To better understand what type you are actually getting, are the regular analog shaped? Not a bigger cigar type shape? Anything you buy will have a slight learning curve. 510 connections are very common and you will find a plethora of combinations. A 306 is the same thread as a 510, but the drip tips are different sizes (510 fits into the atty/carto, 306 over). You might find like I did early on is that what I bought worked, took a little attention to detail on keeping it going without leaking, and more research was needed before I moved onto something else. I started with the ego c and then to the ego t, and added tanks & carto's, but now have a REO Grand and a ProVari. I prefer an ayy's over a carto any day. And an all day juice is a must. But I change that up when I get home. Good luck to both of you!

I can't speak to the reuse of your current batteries on the 510-t, but I can tell you that moving from automatics to manuals doesn't really require much of a learning curve. My first PV was a 901t with an automatic battery and I recently moved to an eGo-C (last week) with a manual battery, and it was an easy transition.

Also, on the "to tank or not to tank" question, there are lots of opinions on tanks vs. cartos vs. other, you will get a lot of advice from more experienced vapers on that subject. So far from what I've read, it really comes down to your experience with each and personal preference. I've only used tanks so far, but I will be trying the other systems at some point, I'm sure.

thanks so much for the kind welcomes and responses. the reason i ask about my gas station throwaway batteries is because from pictures they appear to be VERY similar to the joye batteries.....

rocketrod... i got the one that looks like a cig.. not the ego

and that brings me to yet another question... what the heck is the functional diffrence between a cartomizer and an atomizer... i think my problem at this point is ive read TOO MUCH.... ive read what eatch is supposed to be like using it, ive read cost diffrences.. ive read low resistance and norml resistance (still trying to figure that one out.. and if it is indeed possible to run one of the lr ones on the "starter" battery coming with my kit).... but i have no idea what the operational diffrence is... does one work diffrent than the other? if so, how?

Ah! something Ive been wondering about. Do you press the button , puff, and depress? Or is the button more an on/off switch? Pardon my newbiness, my first 510's haven't even arrived yet, and my crappy OneJoy just died..Dreading this pack of cigarettes in my drawer.

Yes, press the button, puff, then release the button. On the eGo, I press the button a second or two before I draw on it to "cook" the juice just a bit for more flavor. It goes through more juice this way, but the flavor is really good. :D

Congratulations.
Sounds like you really want this to work so it probably will for you...that it's most of the battle right there with quitting smoking.:D
I have been out of the
I vaping loop busy with other hobbies. I recently just tried the tanks myself even though I quit smoking and started vaping 2.5 years ago.lol I am liking them very much. I am also liking 312 LR clearomizer for 510. Those are also new to me. I will be back to edit this post and post you a couple helpful links I found lately that might help your goal with vaping and quit the cigs for good.

Besides the hardware juice is very important and tastes are subjective. Finding a juice that satisfies or something you prefer over cigs is optimal. Here is a link to the ecf 2011 winners. Maybe trying some of those would help you two
.

I always have liked grimm green ecig videos on youtube. But I found this other gal recently who does some awesome ecig
videos. She explains LV and HV atomizers/caromizers very well.

There you go... best of luck!

First and most important: Do NOT use a low resistance (LR) atomizer or cartomizer on the little batteries of an e-cig that looks like the real thing. They will kill, or at least significantly reduce the life of your battery.

Resistance refers to the electrical resistance of the coil and is measured in ohms. Without getting too technical, low resistance coils, about 1.5 to 2 ohms burn hotter than standard resistance (2-3 ohms) which are hotter than the high resistance coils 3.5+ ohms that are made for high voltage batteries. For the small 510 and cigarette looking batteries, stick to standard resistance atomizers and cartomizers from 2.5-3ohms.

An atomizer is the part that holds the heating coil, into which a cartridge full of juice is usually inserted. Some people put a "drip tip" on an atomizer and manually add juice drip by drip. Although there are new designs of cartridges, sometimes called "tanks", the standard cartridge systems are generally considered obsolete.

To add to the confusion, many cigarette lookalike e-cig makers refer to their cartomizers as "cartridges".

A cartomizer is a combination of an atomizer and cartridge in a one-piece unit. They may or may not be filled with a batting material to absorb and hold the juice. They have a shorter lifespan than an atomizer and, although they can be cleaned, are considered disposable. They hold more juice than a standard cartridge and cost less than an atomizer and don't leak unless overfilled. Like atomizers, they are rated in ohms, since they contain a heating coil.

Your new "T" system uses a modified "tank" with a special atomizer made to puncture the seal on the cartridge (tank).
You can still use it with cartomizers if you find it leaky or a hassle or whatever reason. But DO NOT try to use a low resistance carto or atty on any battery less than 450mah, or preferably 650mah.

One last thing, lifted form another poster for it's conciseness.
Rule of thumb: The more it looks like the real thing, the worse it performs.
Small batteries have physical and performance limitations that cannot be overcome or compensated for, no matter what anybody tries to tell you.

Ok... So I got the 510-t in yesterday and it works better and is def gonna be cheaper than the disposables, but the flavor is horrid. I got the setup from innovapor and the juice I ordered is the tobacco flavored full strength 36mg nicotine and it is really harsh... The stuff in the logic disposables I was using is kind of light and sweet. I was using the logic "platinum" versions that were 2.4% (24mg) strength.... Anybody have a clue what kind of fluid they were using in those? Or does anybody have a recommendation as to a high nicotine decent tasting juice?

"harsh" may be from the 36mg instead of the 24mg you were using?

Best recommendation:

Try small sizes of various flavors and strengths to find what you do like. What you think you will love, you often hate, and what is the least likely flavor in your mind is usually the one that works.

Welcome to the next step in your journey. Finding the juices that make it so darn great.

My girlfriend likes to call the higher nic liquids, "spicy."

I've been using 510 threaded devices for six months now and the best part of vaping to me is the tinkering aspect. One can play around with different aspects of hardware and liquid to find what's good each individual.

Welcome to the wonderful journey, i wish you luck.
