Badlitude it looks like you are highly regarded on the forums, I can see from your post count alone you have a lot of experience haha.

I am not here to argue or start anything so I apologize if I am coming off that.

I am curious about your last sentence in the reply. I don't quite understand how a higher gauge coil will take longer to heat up over a lower gauge coil under the same resistance. Under the same resistance wouldn't a higher gauge wire/coil heat up quicker due to simply there being less material to heat up?

You might find some of these examples of wraps at various gauges of interest. It's just a survey of members experiences and isn't carved in stone, since I've noticed some of them seem contradictory. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/446263-micro-coils-ohms-description.html

First post here

I'm new to vaping, interested in cloud chasing and got my first setup.kryptonite 454 block and magneto 2. Built my first coil config today, came out to be .23 ohms and it's hitting nice! I only did a dual coil setup however I would like to build a quad. Is there any better wire to use other than kenthal? I was thinking about using 26 guage for the quad setup, I used 24 guage for the dual. Would 28 be better? I noticed the 24 guage takes quite a long time to heat up.

Also I picked up two of these xtar batteries from battery junction. I couldn't find any sony vtc5's in stock anywhere that was a reasonable price, so I took the risk on these.

I got them delivered today and glad to say these are legit sony vtc5's!

I would qualify these as famous last words.

Okay, that MIGHT be a bit extreme, but the above bolded is NEVER a sentence that should be used in relation to picking kit for cloud chasing.

Actually, we always use 4.2 volts (fully charged battery) for the voltage in our Ohm's Law calculations, which is an 18 amp draw from a 0.23 ohm coil.

Heavier/thicker gauge wire will take require more current and take longer to heat up the coil than a lighter/thinner gauge wire.

Okay yeah that is what i thought. In your original post i think you may have mixed up the gauge as you said 26 gauge would take longer to heat up than 24 gauge.

Haha, what I mean't by "took the risk on these" was that I took the risk that these may be fake VTC5's. After confirming that they are real I then continued with the build.

Ahhh that's good. You wouldn't believe how many outright scary things get asked/spoken here regarding the subject of cloud chasing.

And BTW, the 26 gauge wire will take longer to heat up than the 24 gauge.
I'm having a bad day.

There have also been a number of disreputable shops building sum-ohm coils for customers and then sending them on their way without them understanding the limits of batteries.

Ehh that doesnt sound very appetizing. lol

Actually, not from personal experience but there are some hysterically funny threads about this....and it's supposed to not suck...Lol...tempted to buy some to see for myself.....but I digress.
