i just started trying to mix my own juices i was using the ejuice recipe calculator from eJuice Recipe Calculator
im using 24mg base nic with non nic vg and flavorings from TPA. using that calculator it tells me to make 10mls @ 8mg target i need to use 3.3ml of nic juice, 4.7 vg and 2ml of flavoring does this sound right to everyone? This is my first time to do this, and i just want to make sure im following the general idea. it smells great but is pretty cloudy. I havent yet tried it because i heard others say to let it sit for a while. Any help/feedback would be great.

I have never made a DIY before (but I'm very familiar with dilutions and making solutions) so I can tell you your math is correct.

In the lab, when I make a solution the formula I use is:

(concentration I want)/(concentration I have) * how much I want to make = how much of stock solution to use.

So, for you this would be 8/24 * 10 ml = 3.3 mls of 24mg/ml stock

The rest of your volumes all add up to 10, so that is correct.

I don't know about flavorings. Your flavoring is at 20% and I don't know if that's a common percentage. I'm sure someone else can tell you about that. I think I read the same as you, that they have to steep for a while before they come together.

yea i realized just how much i was spending on juice every month (due to volcano's bwp and apple - like crack in a bottle) and i figured i would try this out.

I have found that fruit flavorings are good to go right off, but all others benefit from steeping. Also, you may find it is better to ease up on flavoring percentages since you can't go back. If you find the mix lacks dimension, try adding a bit of bavarian creme and/or sweetner. Just my findings. Have fun!

Looks good, 20% flavoring is on the strong side a little but not extreme at all. I usually mix up a batch n give it a taste, some need to sit and some are better if they don't. I have been hooked on a FW gummi bear and taste amazing fresh mixed. I have had some juice that tasted like a wet used sock (no joke) but like 2 weeks later is delicious. Just gotta try it, only person that can say if it's good is you. Welcome to DIY juice, you will be happy with making the jump. Not only is it cheaper but if it doesn't taste good add another flavor.

I use that calculator and include my flavoring in the amount of PG. Most flavors are PG based. So using the calculations that you listed above you would be at about a 60/40 PG/VG blend which is pretty good IMO Good luck and if you need help look at the DIY subsection on this forum Folks there are always happy to help. Oops I see that you are making 10 mls so that is close to 50/50 which is still good IMO

Most of my mixes are between 20 and 26% flavoring, but I like it strong. Most standard strength recipes are 10-15%. It's all about personal preference. You can always add a little more vg/pg if it turns out too strong.

Be sure to read the guide in the ECF DIY section, especially any lists or links to lists of the brand flavorings you are using. The lists usually mark which flavorings are not safe for vaping and which are hard to work with (not water soluble) as well as sometimes having recommended percentages or ratings. The Perfumer's Apprentice site flavoring descriptions also mark which are unsafe for vaping (for food or cosmetic use only).

And BTW - you are making a high VG juice. That juice will likely be too thick for most cartomizers (especially all slim ecig cartomizers), too thick for tanks, OK for an atomizer as long as it flows quicker than you vape it. For stuff-type cartomizers I use 20% VG or less (i.e. high PG juices). Tanks and reservoir cartos like the thickness of 20-30%.

im using the magma with clearos at the moment. my nic base is 75vg 25 pg from MFS. my flavorings came from TPA and all of them from the DIY flavor side of the site, and my glycerine is by wilton. picked it up at the local arts store. i guess i just assumed it was vg, i may be wrong. the thickness issue never even crossed my mind

I'd suggest 100mg nic base for a couple of reasons:

1) makes the math easier. 10ml batch at 8mg nic? 0.8ml nicotine base.

2) it works out to be cheaper... often by a wide margin. Especially when
