Ive never been a heavy smoker, about 1 1/2 packs a week of menthol lights or regular lights cigarettes. Been smoking about 10 years and its had enough of an effect on me where I usually have a cough in the morning, built up congestion, and noticeable moments of motivation/energy drop after smoking. I wanna eventually quit, but I enjoy the activity of smoking. Anyways, I just got turned onto vaporizing 3 days ago, researched it like crazy and just bought the Green Smoke starter kit because of its simplicity and consistent quality ratings. One of the more expensive brands. Smoked it quite a bit last night for the first time and woke up this morning with a pretty sore throat. Did I make the right pick of brand?
To answer your q: You got screwed paying $150.

There are sections in this forum dealing with specific e-cig brands and suppliers that will tell you that, so I'm not going to lie to you. But if it enables you to choose NOT to smoke today, $150 is a steal.
I got screwed when I started. Not as bad as you, I think

-still thinking- but it has enabled me to choose not to smoke for the last 39 days; and that's what matters. No more hacking in the AM, no more cig burns in your clothes, car seats, hands, and arms to start with. And I'm hoping for much more as the years go by.
As for your sore throat: Vaping does dry you out. Not as much as smoking. I used to have to hydrate my mucous membranes with a saline nasal spray at least 4 times a day (sometimes 10) when I was smoking, and still hacking big (and at times bloody) lugees in the AM. Now that I choose not to smoke and vape instead, I'm hydrating at most twice a day without the hack; and at times I forget to hydrate for up to a couple of days without consequence.

I live in a dry climate where even if I didn't vape I'd have to hydrate anyways.
Welcome. You're on the right track.
