Ive never been a heavy smoker, about 1 1/2 packs a week of menthol lights or regular lights cigarettes. Been smoking about 10 years and its had enough of an effect on me where I usually have a cough in the morning, built up congestion, and noticeable moments of motivation/energy drop after smoking. I wanna eventually quit, but I enjoy the activity of smoking. Anyways, I just got turned onto vaporizing 3 days ago, researched it like crazy and just bought the Green Smoke starter kit because of its simplicity and consistent quality ratings. One of the more expensive brands. Smoked it quite a bit last night for the first time and woke up this morning with a pretty sore throat. Did I make the right pick of brand?

Yes, it is definitely an expensive brand! This looks ike a standard KR808 that could be had for a lot less, but if it works for you, it's still less than a month's worth of smokes and way better for you. The main thing that irritates me on their site is the claim that a pack of five cartridges equals 150 cigarettes. Sorry, but no cartridge equals a pack and a half!

As for the sore throat, try taking it a little easier and drink lots of liquids while you vape. The vapor can dry you out a little. There is also the possibility that you have a slight PG allergy, but I would say that's a long shot.

Best of luck and welcome to the ECF!

Both the Green Smoke and the KR808D-1 are supposed to have the same E9/V9 Style Threads, but I'm unable to get a Green Smoke carto on the KR808D-1. (D-2 maybe???)

I have both units and have no complaints with either of them.

BUT ... the KR808D-1 batteries cost much less and seem to last considerably longer (in daily use). Carto's are available from other vendors that offer more flavor selections at a much lower price. My guess is that with the KR808D-1 you would end up spending about 25-30% less money.

There is nothing wrong with Green Smoke and I have to credit them with getting me off cigarettes.

VaporJunction has the Kanger Genuine KR808D-1 and cartos are available from a number of vendors.

Whatever works for you, is worth any price, really.

I think once you research this site a little more, you will know what you might need down the line.. This forum has lots of useful information for you.

When i first started out vaping, I tried several different things before I found the items i currently vape on. It's a learning experience.

Wanted to mention the sore throat issue. I had this for a few weeks when I first started vaping...and still do at times. You might want to try a juice with VG for a little bit, and like said before, drink lots of water, throat losenges..whatever works.

Good luck to you and enjoy the vape :)

To answer your q: You got screwed paying $150.:( There are sections in this forum dealing with specific e-cig brands and suppliers that will tell you that, so I'm not going to lie to you. But if it enables you to choose NOT to smoke today, $150 is a steal.:)

I got screwed when I started. Not as bad as you, I think:facepalm: -still thinking- but it has enabled me to choose not to smoke for the last 39 days; and that's what matters. No more hacking in the AM, no more cig burns in your clothes, car seats, hands, and arms to start with. And I'm hoping for much more as the years go by.;)

As for your sore throat: Vaping does dry you out. Not as much as smoking. I used to have to hydrate my mucous membranes with a saline nasal spray at least 4 times a day (sometimes 10) when I was smoking, and still hacking big (and at times bloody) lugees in the AM. Now that I choose not to smoke and vape instead, I'm hydrating at most twice a day without the hack; and at times I forget to hydrate for up to a couple of days without consequence.:thumb: I live in a dry climate where even if I didn't vape I'd have to hydrate anyways.

Welcome. You're on the right track.

LeCig (an excellent vendor) has D-2 cartomizers 9 bucks for the "fill your own" and 10 bucks for the "pre-filled." Not the biggest selection of flavors in the world, but much less expensive than the Green Smoke. (LeCig Electronic Cigarette Store - D2 Refill Cartomizers)

There are others out there as well if you can take the time to do some research.

Filling your own blank carto's is simple and easy and opens the door to try many, exciting flavors! How does peanutbutter or bacon sound to you? MsTsBakery has 'em and they are great!

Want a big TH? Try her Blackberry Jelly. It will give you a TH clear up to the backside of your eyeballs!

And again, there are lots of fine vendors out there selling all kinds of great flavors.

Have fun, experiment and enjoy your vaping adventure!

Not here.
Doesn't Greensmoke have a 30 day return policy? If so, I'd just send it back and get something a bit better and less expensive. I almost purchased the GS set, but then found this forum. I'm not sure it saved me any money, hehheh, but I got a lot more stuff for the same amount.

I'm so grateful for having found this place and the amazingly helpful people here. Double rainbow, all the way!

Hugs,
Lyn
