Haven't read all the replies but I just wanted to recommend Dekang Parliament e-liquid to start with, it's called Congress now for legal reasons. I started with 12 samples and that's the flavor I thought was most appealing, and although not much like a cig it's surprisingly similar to a parliament, have even had a parl smoker confirm that and I have one convert who started off with it as well and uses it to this day. I was getting it from the 'more VG' category at cignot.com for a decent price and immediate shipping. Good luck!

Buying a provari right off the bat wouldn't be a bad idea per se, but you may not exactly understand all of its 'features' unless you were closely guided through the process with the help of a vet.

Most PV (personal vaporizers, another term for 'ecig') that people here on the forum use consist of two elements.

1. The 'device'. This is usually just a big battery, colored to your choice to look pretty. To charge it, you would simply screw it into it's charger. Just like screws, the 'threading' of these devices come in different sizes. Most common threading I've seen so far is '510'. You'll learn more about that later.

Sometimes the 'device' is a 'tube' with batteries in it that you can take out, charge separately, change out, etc, as opposed to just being a big battery. This is like the provari. These are usually more durable, most customizable, and receive more praise for being 'high end' stuff.

2. Your "tank" system. This is literally just a tank that you screw onto your "device" that holds your eliquid, the juice that is good and flavorful and full of nicotine. The battery heats coils inside of the tank, vaporizing the juice and giving you your inhale. There are many different types of tanks. For a better understanding of tanks, I would use google or open up a 2nd thread and hope that Baditude fills you in. Some simple and widely acknowledged tanks off the top of my head would be the Vision Vivi Nova (just fill and vape), the Kanger line (same concept but a bit different with the "coil" position), and the "cartotanks", which are tanks with a "cartomizer" inside of them. Again, you can learn more about that with some research.

As for getting yourself started, I would recommend the same setup I used, and still use, to get my fix. The 'device' would be the Vision VV Spinner 1300mah, which is a fancy title for "big battery". The "threading" I mentioned earlier on this battery is 510, meaning most tanks will work with this and its easy to customize and do what you want with it. This battery lasts me pretty much all day.

For the tank, I'd recommend Vivi Novas. They are easy to use, refill, clean when necessary, and customize once you get a bit more advanced. You can look up these product names on google and find them from a million vendors. First try using the Trusted vendors that this website has on hand.

And if you become curious or want to explore, the earlier comment made by somebody who said you should check out Tasteyourjuice.com was right. His reviews are detailed, easy to watch, and high quality.

Also, if you want to avoid the rush of confusion, there's no problem with starting on a green smoke if it works for you. We are naturally going to try and tell you the lessons we learned concerning devices and cost, before we upgraded. Sometimes you just need a simple cig replacement at first and that's ok, you'll learn to how to upgrade the same way we did, with a clear head for the options that suit you. I imagine an eRoll is a better cigalike than a green smoke, it charges in its case so you don't have to unscrew batteries all day. The design and concept of it resolve a lot of the issues with earlier cigalikes, the ones most of us started with which gave us so many headaches.

Congratulations on taking this step ... as you can see there are both a lot of options and a lot of help available, and different people have different preferences.

I would suggest: if you found the variety of options and information a bit overwhelming, go with simpler (you are going to buy more stuff anyways). If you are the type of person who found it intriguing and have the money, go wild!

I found it a bit overwhelming and have been really happy with a spinner, a twist for backup (and because it came in a really pretty red) and my original ego passthrough as my backup's backup for when I forget to charge something. A few different clearomizers to experiment with and some varying strength juices and I was good to go, which was what I needed.

No matter what you get, some equivalent of the little ego (a "stealth vape" device) - or several - is inexpensive and invaluable!

Good luck!

A lot of good advice from the vets up there. My view is that Provari as a first ecig would be like getting a Ferrari right after you get your licence. You're going to make mistakes with your first car, so best to crash something a little more wallet-friendly? C",)

Also, I get that you just want something that you can 'plug-n-play', but having just a little more knowledge about your gear, and how to tinker with them will greatly enhance your vaping experience. It also makes more economic sense in the long run (vs. having to buy replacement parts everytime the drag is funny).

Lastly, a warm, foggy welcome to the world of vapping : )

I'd say the first thing you need to decide is if you plan on kicking the nicotine habit entirely or are you just looking for a healthier alternative. For me it was just getting too expensive to smoke analogs so I decided to go the E-cig route and couldn't be happier, I have no intention of quitting anytime soon so I don't mind spending a few extra bucks on fancy toys, but if your trying to quit altogether I don't think you need a top of the line mod as your first choice.

The cig-a-likes like the Greensmoke, V2, Blu and so on work great for some to taper off and kick the habit, but if your looking for a more dependable battery I'd say go with the Ego Twist or Vision Spinner, roughly about the size of a cigar and a 650MaH battery last me all day at work, and the 1100MaH can make it through nearly a whole weekend. This from a 20+ year, pack a day smoker (full flavor cowboy killers).

Whatever you decide on don't be discourage if your initial choice isn't great, I hated the tank/atomizer combo that came with my first Ego, tried a couple different delivery systems till I found the cartomizers I use for work and the tanks and clearomizers I use for home. Still searching for flavors I like, I gave up on finding a replacement that tasted like the ash factories I was smoking and started trying off the wall stuff and am loving it, who would have thought cream soda would make a good tasting vape?

Don't be afraid to experiment and have some fun with it.

hope its not too late to say this...but i may still have my first kit (Green Smoke) somewhere where its been sitting for about 3 years.
Please don't buy GS.
It is very pleasing to the sincere smoker who wants to quit... yes... BUT it drove me nearly crazy.

It came with 2 batteries each of which took about 3 to 4 hours to charge, and gave about 45 min. to an hour of vaping.
Ok I do chain vape but you can do the math.
Unless they've improved, this is a bust. It was $120 and you have to buy their cartos ...
