You are right do lots of research. Don't be like me and many who find this place and spend way more on several different kits that don't work for them. Do a search of this forum on blu see what others are saying. The most common cig is the 510 series it can be bought many different ways up to an ego which basically has bigger batteries. You will spend a lot less on these kits and be much more happy. Cignot and freedomsmokeusa are decent places to look at kits.

The 510 with manual batteries is a good kit to start with if you're looking to get a good kit inexpensively (approx. $35). If you're willing to spend a little more, I think the Joye eGo would be a better choice (approx. $55). Most likely, you'll end up upgrading to it anyway.

Good luck in your search and welcome to the forums! :)

You are going to get a ton of replies! In my opinion as long as it doesn't have to look like a cig to you get an EGO, There are the real Ego's and the Clones. You can get a clone for around $50.00 and it will have 2 batteries thet last 4-8 hours of heavy use, an Atomizer or 2 and a charger. Every one has ther favorite suppliers, mine is ivape.net, but just go to forum suppliers and find the one that looks like it will work for you! Close to me and customer support are what I look for.

How much can you afford to spend?
What kind of a smoker are you? 1 Pack a day 2?
Does it need to look like a cig?
Do you mind re-filling your own stuff?
Most every one ends up with a bigger unit after there first purchase, for battery life reasons and higher voltage. I think most on this forum would agree that an Ego is a great starter unit.

Welcome to ECF. Here's my opinion, Do Not order a Blu. It's over priced and under performs. If you want something similar order either a KR808 or a 510. They're great inexpensive starter units that are recommended by lots of people on here, and for good reason. If you want something that will go all day without charging batteries, get an eGo or similar unit. They're about $20 more but it'll save you from upgrading later. If you haven't already done so watch these videos by MistressNomad: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html. They'll explain a lot and show you a little about the KR8 and 510. And post back if you have any questions, ECF is a great forum with a lot of knowledgeable, friendly people. You'll get the answers you need to make an informed decision.

Wonder why your first thought is a blu...

Tiny battery, so it will not hold much of a charge. Is it the size?

Smaller than normal cart capacity, so it will not hold much juice. Not an issue since the battery will not last long. Is it the size?

Or is it marketing?

If it is size and you don't mind charging multiple times a day, then a Blu may be for you. If it is marketing, then Totally Wicked has some slick marketing too.

If you just want something that works, then a Joye 510 based PV or a KR808 would be good to add to your list of ones to take a close look at.

Opinions, I have tons of those, but I'm not you, so what the heck do I know?

My opinion is to avoid Blu for one reason - you're paying for marketing. It's possible to get the same product for cheaper if that's the model you're aiming for. Or course, if you don't mind or prefer to pay for said marketing, that might shift your stance in the entirely opposite direction.

I had a 901 as my first PV and was pretty disapointed with it. Battery life sucked, they charged slowly with the USB charger. Vapor production was decent but throat hit varied wildly which wasn't personally a problem for me.

Since most of my issues with the 901 seemed to be battery (and fluid) related, my latest purchase was a Screwdriver MK-II and I'm very, very excited for it as well as my new juice flavors. :)

I would advise a 510 5v manual USB passthrough & 2amp AC to USB adapter. 5 cartomizers and a variety pack of e-liquid, 24mg. This will get you as close to a cigarette substitute as you can get. If you then decide you can make the switch from cigarettes buy a Buzz. From that point on all you will need to replenish is e-liquid and cartomizers.

I just bought my first e-cig the vaporking(kr808d-1) from v4l, and its great for me at this point in my vaping journey. I mean im sure there are better devices out there but for just starting you can't get any simpler. All i do is carry around the pcc and when i feel like taking a drag, remove the battery screw on one of the carts and im good to go

I will agree with those saying to avoid automatic batteries. That is what I started with and am currently using until payday comes and I can order an eGo. Automatic batteries don't last long as far as vaping time and seem to spend more time in the charger than in my mouth. The only way I can get a good vape out of mine is to do what people don't suggest doing and that is direct dripping onto the atomizer because the juice can leak into the battery and I have to remove the inside of the cartridge. Whenever I use a cartridge with the inside, I pretty much have to suck so hard it literally hurts my neck muscles because I have to pull extremely hard to get the dang thing to work. I'm constantly checking the connections of the battery and atomizer to make sure there's no juice that's leaked into that area. It's a pain to do but it's what's helping me to do my best to stay away from analogs but I still need an analog once in awhile.

So many have started out with the type that looks exactly like a cigarette (me included) and I can tell you for me, it was a huge waste of my money and has caused me a great deal of frustration. I've heard a ton of good things about the eGo so that's what I'm going to try next. Now all I have to do is wait for payday.

I agree with xg4bx if you insist on the same model as the Blu go toVolcano Fine Electronic Cigarette...home of the best eCig you get the same model for a little less $ and shipping is 2- 3 days instead of 2- 3 weeks. I don't, however, recommend this model. I personally don't like 510s either and prefer a "penstyle", ie. DSE 801 or Joye 302, because it gives better flavor but this is not normal. Most people prefer the 510 model. Before purchasing check out Electronic Cigarette Supplies & Electronic Cigarette Refills for Name-Brand Electronic Cigarettes! E-Cigs from LiteCigUSA they have the widest variety of models I have found and very good prices. Also, if you find a model you are interested in at litecigusa but have questions just contact Shawn and he will give you an honest answer. He is an excellent vendor to deal with.
