Hi guys, new guy here and glad to be part of this community!

Not sure if this is the right place to ask my question, but I just figured out how to make a new thread and i'm not missing the opportunity! Ok, I'm 27 years old, been a smoker since I was 16-17. I decided to switch to e-cigs and after some research I decided to go with V2 (was between v2 and South Beach). I was about to order the kit online, but found the rechargeable battery at a local liquor store, so I bought it, along with a pack of the v2 Reds. Now, the taste that I get is pretty good (and vapor is good) but I still get this "chemical/plastic" taste/aftertaste smoking it-I had the same issue with a less known brand I bought at a 7 eleven and gave it up. I wanted to ask 3 questions. 1) Are the kits online sold thru the website more "authentic" or of better built quality or is it the same thing? 2) If I get the "congress" flavor (which I heard are better than Reds) will the taste improve and actually taste like a real cigarette? and 3) What is the absolute best e-cig brand/flavors that's closest to that of a real cigarette-I don't care about price or looks, I just don't want to taste like I'm inhaling plastic/chemicals.

Btw, I tried njoy the other day (the gold ones) and are pretty good-I have to say they 're actually better than the V2 (looks more like a cigarette, better taste, more light-but it's disposable). Does njoy make rechargeables and where can I purchase them?

I really want to make the switch and need help finding the right fit. Any help will be appreciated!

Oh! and what about the eGo brand? I've read pretty good reviews, but again, will there be this plastic-y aftertaste?

You can spend a bunch of money "experimenting" with different hardware combinations or you can browse the forums and find good starter kits.

I personally think this is a GREAT one to start on.
Itaste VV 3 0 Starter Express Kit Authentic Guranteed The Latest wth More Rivets | eBay

Choose the starter kit in the pulldown menu instead of express kit. It will cost more, but it includes the wall charger and clearomizers.

One nice thing about this battery is that it charges via microUSB so you can still use it while charging. You'll eventually want to get a second battery though, and then you can buy the Express kit for the second battery.

The seller ships really quickly and sells authentic product that can be verified using the authenticity sticker on the box on the Innokin website.

You will get a high quality battery and 5 clearomizers that are highly recommended. If you find the taste of the iclear clearomizers "plasticy" you can invest on a mini-protank II. It is made of glass and pyrex and will handle any e-juice you throw at it.

The next thing to do is browse the forums for some good e-juice, or better yet, look on the internet for a vape shop near you and see if they will allow you to try some so you can find a flavor you like.

I personally like the Wowboy e-juice from Vapor4Life. Asking for recommendations on this forum for flavors is really subjective. So your answers will run the gambit. Some people swear by Boba's Bounty at Alien Visions E-Juice. I've tried it and I'm not a big fan, but hey, different strokes for different folks.

That's why it is nice to find a local vapor store for your first couple juice tries, then you can start looking online for flavors.

Just my $.02 worth.

My first real kit was also V2. Unfortunately, it did not work for me, as those pre-filled cartridges left me completely unsatisfied. However, I ordered more and more, thinking I would find the one that would work. It never happened. I have tried V2 Red, Congress, and Saraha--none of them have a taste close to a real cigarette.

What finally worked for me was buying a higher powered kit with clearomizers and e-juice. I started with the Halo Triton, and the batteries included in the starter kit will last you longer than three V2 batteries. The taste, feeling, and satisfaction you get from the clearomizer/e-juice is eons better than the pre-filled cartridges. Unfortunately, you probably will not find one that mimics the exact taste of a real cigarette, but making the switch has made all the difference for me.

There are countless other options as well--read around on here about MVP, Provari, eGo, and the rest. I have yet to go down that road myself, but the time is coming soon. Good luck!

Skip the cigalikes, and go for an ego type battery and clearomizer so as others have mentioned. I've tried cigalikes before I got my first ego set up. They had me convinced that e cigarettes weren't for me. There are so many options when you have the type that uses the clearomizers and tanks. So many different e liquid vendors, that you're bound to find something tasty. If you do want to stick with cigalikes, and you like the pull you get from them and they're satisfying, maybe try Halo? Their juice is some of the best around.

This link actually goes to the CaliVapers' website and lists all of the known vape stores that have popped up in the Northern California area in the last year. NorCal Retail Vape Shop Directory My suggestion would be to find one near you, then go in and try out the equipment. They should have several different starter e-cigs available to choose from, and some have free to try e-juice bars. You can buy from them, or come back to ECF and ask for opinions on the best place to purchase the equipment you liked best. You'll get hundreds of different suggestions here, depending on members' likes and dislikes, but there's nothing like actually handling the equipment yourself if possible.

Hi and welcome to ECF :toast:

I +1 on p.opus, Innokin makes a great product and you should definitely visit a local vape shop IF you have one to sample juices. Absolutely nothing will be "just like" a cigarette. You are no longer smoking, burning plant matter, etc. Vaping will not be an identical replication. It is a replication of FEELING like smoking. You have to find flavors you enjoy.

Personally, in the beginning I ordered a ton of tobacco samplers from vendors here on ECF (well, in the beginning of giving up on my V2 and other ecigalike kit as actually functional to make the switch for me) and I discovered very quickly - I don't like tobacco LOL. My Fiance - LOVES tobacco and to this day vapes 1 tobacco flavor at 6mg and will step to 0 soon. I found I like coffee and bakery flavors.

If you are happy with the V2 setup - get blank cartomizers to fill with liquid samples (Boge Blank KR808 Soft Tip Cartomizers - Avid Vaper). If you want more power - go to the small innokin suggested above. Keep the V2 - use it as a back up (always have backups! - rule #1 to fight...er...vape club) Taste is subjective - so finding what you like will be the PITA - but once you do - its SO WORTH IT. :)

Screw cigalikes, they are garbage.... now you know! :)

Get a simple starter kit with a real tank and a variable voltage battery - typically none of this gear lasts forever, so just get something to try out juices on.

THEN you can start trying juices. You can have fruity flavors, dessert-y flavors, mint or beverages. ANYTHING but 1) crappy cig taste and b) old gym socks..unless thats your thing.

There are hundreds of juice vendors that folks will discuss here in the forums: Ive tried 4 + 1 was where I got my starter kit from and some of their juice (it wasnt *that* great, so I dont mention it).

here is who i DID like tho':

Alice in Vapeland (aka AiV). April Moon is awesome sauce (TO ME..your tastes might not be the same..and im not tasting you to find out)

Nicoticket: Betelguise was nice, Altered State (retired for now) and some experimental Grape Cotton Candy were all decent juices and the prices are reasonable too. That BG and the Grape stuff was what I vaped today actually..I have 2 different tanks and 2 different batteries so I use them both as I do my elf things all day.

Ahlusion.us: I got some Blueberry-Vanilla Cake off 'em and its really nice. A little spendy, but its something thats worth it to me.

LATER you can learn about making your own juice - start with single flavor stuff - thats what I want to do next...mmm, fwuits \o/!

BUT - for now, figure out what is some decent gear (folks will suggest the MVP 2.0, watch...but that + some Kanger mini protank IIs and you are set for many moons...srsly) ...

AND - figure out how to rebuild your COILS and WICKS. This is absolutely vital to getting a far better vapor cloud than just what (for example) a stock Kanger head can do for you. Kangers can be nice out of the box for a few days and then taste like total crap. They get gunked up - all heads do this - but you can make your own coil and its really satisfying.

Info and links are in my single blog post, take a gander if you want.

And be sure to ASK in here - everyone didnt know jack when they started and now look at em. I lurked here for 18 months lol. Finally made an account a month ago, hell maybe it was less than a month? Thyme Flies.

And I will throw my 3 cents in (why yes, yes I am feeling superior and entitled - just humor me and I'll eventually go away)

everybody who said get a bigger ego style battery is completely RIGHT!!!

to save a lot of experimenting and
fpb579.gif

I would recommend a vv (variable voltage) ego style battery commonly called twist or spinner - get the 900mah - get 2 if you are serious about vaping and don't want to go back to cig's if the battery charge goes out (believe me, you will forget to charge it - back ups for back ups is a very common saying here)

get a glassomizer like a mini protank 2 to eliminate the plastic taste

and last but certainly not least - unfortunately you will not find an eliquid that will taste exactly like a cigarette tobacco -sorry, but that's just the way it is - closest is going to be ry4 - now this can be a deal breaker for a lot of beginning vapors but here is the best analogy I can come up with - drank Coca-Cola all my life, switched to Diet Coke for my health, did they taste the same? Heck NO!!! Did I get used to the different flavor because I was concerned about my health? Yes I did. Took awhile but now I can't remember what regular coke tastes like.

Hope this helps

and welcome to the ECF

I found I like coffee and bakery flavors.

Damn..that IS creepy. :D

Coffee = smells awesome..tastes awful!

Jim up above (hey you) is right: Pyrex tanks!!!! Otherwise you are using a plastic one and while ok for some juices...cant withstand citrus or some cinnamon juice. They crack lol. Seriously.

The Kanger Protank II mini is pyrex. I use em..I like 'em. The capacity is a little low, but thats ok. I dont need a 7ml tank......or do I? OH NOES.

PennyVaper.com << this is nice for comparison shopping (see that mvp2? 40 bucks! 40 beans!!! - but comes with a plastic tank lol...get a pyrex one on the side...just cuz!)

1) Are the kits online sold thru the website more "authentic" or of better built quality or is it the same thing?
Don't know what authentic means in this case. They are not cigarettes. Some are better built some aren't.
2) If I get the "congress" flavor (which I heard are better than Reds) will the taste improve and actually taste like a real cigarette?
It will depend on what you like. We can't answer that for you.
3) What is the absolute best e-cig brand/flavors that's closest to that of a real cigarette-I don't care about price or looks
There is nothing that is like a real cigarette.

There are two parts to an electronic cigarette the battery and the cartridge which delivers the juice and vapor. When you ask about flavor it is the cartridge and the juice it contains that is responsible for that. There are hundreds of basic flavors on the market and you will have try experiment with different ones till you find one that you like. There are tobacco flavors but none of them will be the same as a cigarette.

That is one of the reasons Vapor eyes suggested a Spinner battery. The Spinner is modestly priced variable volt battery that will allow to adjust the intensity of your flavors. I agree this is a good place to start. I use them when I go out. It is not the best battery but for a better one you pay more. The really good ones are in the $200 range.

Along with the Spinner battery I suggest a Vision viivi nova cartridge or tank. This one has worked well for me and is easy to refill.
