I agree teamscon, however smokeless image sells their prefilled for the same price as the blanks. So if you are going to fill them with the same juice, you might as well buy a prefilled carto as well. I wouldn't buy a prefilled set if they were more money. But if it's $1,50 for a blank and $1.50 for a prefilled ry4 and you are going to fill it with ry4, why waste the blank one, save it for a different juice

Err I should have looked to see which setup they were using. Joined this forum to trade off some juices I dislike and was in a hurry to rack up the 20 needed posts to be verified.

Let me try again: I would buy a different kit that doesnt use these cartos lol. Im using the ego setup now ... Want a 901 for more discreet vaping in public. Good luck!

There are also vendors that sell boge 808 cartos for 5.99 a 5 pack and give you a free 5ml of your choice of juice.

Not to hijack your thread, but I just got my Volt in the mail today and I'd like to share my first impressions. I'm comparing my Volt automatic battery starter kit against my Joye 510 short batteries and Boge LR cartomizers.

1. The Volt battery is a couple mm longer than the 510, and slightly thicker. SI cartos are the same length as Boges.

2. The draw feels a little tighter than the 510. It has a nice warmth and dryness to it though, and decent throat hit. Can't really compare with the intensity of my LR Boges though. (I used a flavor I know well, Bobas Bounty, in a SI blank carto for this comparison.)

3. I got their tobacco sampler 5 pack. So far I've tried the Desert Joe and Cowboy (12mg.) Desert Joe rocks! It really tastes like a Camel, with no bad chemical aftertaste. Cowboy is not bad. The first drag I took of it I was like "wow, crazy throat hit/vapor!" Then I realized that the carto didn't have an end cap on it. :p (Side note: Is it unheard of to vape without the end caps on purpose, or widen the airhole?)

4. I'm going to order some LR Boge 808 cartos to try out on the Volt. Then I can make a better comparison I guess.

Hope these ramblings weren't too intolerable.

After some research I answer my own questions.

Volt is 3.6v
Cartos are 2.6 - 2.8 ohm
So at best you get 5 Watts.
If you could use a 2 ohm carto you would get 6.5 Watts. Better but not good for my taste. But its a mini, and better than other small pv's ive seen.
One question is can the volt battery handle 2 ohms without stress?
Also I read that the coil in the SI carto is horizontal. Im not sure what difference that makes. Then again im not very familiar with 808D-1 hardware.

Thanks for the info! I'll try a drip tip. Not sure what difference the horizontal coil makes either. Another difference is that the SI cartos are noiseless. I like the trademark Boge crackle though.

Hopefully the Boge LR cartos won't blow out the batteries. I have a feeling they will be fine. Would be cool if SI offered their own cartos in lower res, because I like the smoothness and dryness of the vapor in the regular SI cartos. At present the draw on them is a little too tight for me though.

Just tried their RY4; wasn't really for me. Still digging the Desert Joe though. As a former Camel Light smoker I would def. recommend this flavor.

You don't want to use a lr carto on a battery smaller than 650. At 2.0, you should be ok, but you will wear down the battery charge faster. The horizontal coil is the coil is just on the bottom. If you look at some other ones, like the vapor 4 life one, the atomizer coil come up the length of the air tube. The horizontal coil makes it harder to burn the filler too. I have been using the same 5 cartos for a month on my volt and haven't burnt them. They all still work and I have refilled them at least 15 times each.

tons of handy info in this thread, my volt will be here tomorrow, thanks everyone for being so friendly and helpful.

Dr al, do you know about the free promo for volt on their subforum? You can get a free battery, bottle of juice or pack of cartos once you receive you volt

I dont understand which is it? You say a battery lower than 650 mah (which the Volt is) should not use LR cartos. But you say a 2 ohm will be ok. Reason I ask is because a 2 ohm cartomizer is considerd LR.

I just want to know exactly what it can handle.

I know the big reason I chose to buy my wife a volt was because of the review steeljan did about it. And the biggest factor in my choice was SI's cartos. I think the construction must be different because she said that there is an atty coil in the bottom of the carto, hence the juice wicks better, and therefore your cartos don't get burned as easy.

I'd like to hear more about this too. I do know that Boge 2.0 LR cartos perform well on Joye 510 batteries...the auto ones are 220 mah, I think.. I admit that I'm not a heavy vaper, but going on 2 months of use, the one battery I use my LRs with still works fine, and I can use it all day without charging it. A lowered overall lifespan would not be too big of a deal to me, as I'm just happy to have a cig sized PV that gives me enough TH, warm vapor etc.

2.0 is borderline lr. The volt cartos are 2.4-2.8. I have used 2.0 cartos with no bad effects. I have been told by many people not to use lower than 2.0. Even the sellers of them say to not use on small batteries. Lower than 2.0 could burn the battery all together

can someone tell me whether I need to buy blank cartos for my SI Volt strictly from the SI website or are there other places to get them (maybe cheaper)?

also when adding e juice to a pre-filled cart that is running low, can someone explain this process more? do you just put a few drops in a puff away, or is there more to it than that? (a certain amount of time you have to wait, etc etc)

No, you don't have to buy from SI, but they are priced about the same as other sites. If you buy elsewhere, just get 2.4-2.8 ohm resistance and 808 threading.

I will say though, I have tried several companies and the volt ones are the best. It's because of the bottom horizontal coil. I have not burnt one yet, but I burned several of the others.

As far as filling cartomizers, if you are just topping off, you just pop out the endcap and drip into it, down the side, not the middle. Then replace the cap and vape, if its new or completely empty, you want to let it sit for a few minutes. Also, after you put the end cap on, give it a quick blow through to make sure that there's no juice in the air hole

Just make sure when you drip in, it's not pooled on top of the filler, you want the filler to suck it up like a sponge. If it doesn't suck it up and there's a pool of juice, it's overfilled. In that case, just dump out the excess back in the bottle and blow through the air hole
