i found a 'cheap' starter kit for 20 bucks at the gas station, a few days ago.
first one i ever tried & i instantly fell in love, this is the golden ticket to my quitting.
i smoked camel menthol lights, before.
about 15 / day before i bought this --green smart living-- e cig.
they have high (18mg) and low (6mg) in a quite a few diff flavors ...
so far i've tried menthol high (of course) and vanilla high ...
im really looking forward to strawberry, as well. :)
i slowly tapered off the analogs. smoking 5-8 the first day, 3-5 the next and just 1 today ...
i've had a problem with headaches. i find its easy to get carried away vaping so idk if its from od of nicotine or withdrawl from tobacco ??

ooh, yeah ... as i've searched around the forums, i noticed along of vapor 'lingo' - mostly reffering to refilling your own ecig ... is that worth it? is it better than the prefilled, 2 piecers ??

well, thats all for now, i guess.... i'm glad i found these forums, i really do think i wll stick with the switch i made (although @ this point i do still crave analogs somewhat ... normal? )

- - - - - oh, and can someone explain a throat hit ? & why its important ?
i wanna make sure im making the most of this. :)

Welcome to the ECF, juicy! Congratulations on kicking the analogs so quickly! :D

The headaches are likely from overindulgence, but could be a bit of feedback concerning other chemicals your body is temporarily missing. I never got them from dropping analogs, but I sure did when I got my first order of juices in the mail. I hit them heavily and was down with headache and slight nausea for a few hours from too much nicotine.

It is absolutely worth it to start refilling your cartos with the juice(s) of your choice! Do not throw any of your spent cartos away until you have this figured out. All I can say is read until your eyes bulge and then ask any questions you need. The group here at ECF is one of the most helpful I've ever run across on the web or anywhere else!

About TH... It's the amount of sensation your throat receives when you pull vapor into your lungs. It's important to some people in order to feel they are getting something into their lungs, and it more closely resembles the sensation of smoking analogs. I actually don't really care about it and prefer to enjoy rich flavors more. Of course, my favorites are mostly menthols, so I get plenty of throat hit from that. :p

Welcome!

To answer your last question, TH, Throat Hit, is irritation of the throat with heat and/or nicotine or possibly some other substance. It is to give that "feel" of inhaling burning tobacco and paper. The importance of a high or low TH is entirely up to the vaper, not someone else opinion.

I like a strong TH while my sister does not care for it and likes a lighter TH. We're both right as what works is what is important.

Hi Juicy! "Throat Hit" is when you inhale and can feel it in the back of your throat like from an analog....back when you smoked them (lol) ! As you experiment with different juices, you will notice some are "stronger" than others....just like when you smoked a stronger than usual cigarette. I have vaped since the first of May, so my no means am I any authority, but I will say, it would have saved me alot of time, frustration and money if I had gone straight to the 510/Riva Kits.....They are a little larger (batteries) but they last longer. Most vendors carry them.....I got mine from Liberty Flights. They seem to have the best prices. There is a "learning curve" with vaping, but hang in there !! If you fall back and have a puff ot two off of an analog, don't beat yourself up!! After a while, you will find some really delicious juices and never want that stinky stick again!! Good luck!:vapor:

Yeah, you've got lots of filling options. The sad truth is, none of them are great. This is a technology in its infancy... But everyone finds an option that works well for them... Some like cartomizers, some like tanks, MANY like to carry a bottle of liquid around with them and drip directly into the device when they want a vape...

Refilling your own is definitely the way to go. It's SO much cheaper than buying pre-filled, and you have literally thousands of juice options. In my personal experience, the pre-filled ones all use lousy juice, or perhaps they've just been sitting around way too long... I hear there are a couple of good companies for pre-filled (vapor4life comes to mind), but filling is the bees' knees...

On filling and cartridge options, read up here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html

It's a great read and run-down of what's available. It is a bit dated, but it's great info... just doesn't include the newest equipment.

Be glad you got a $20 kit, and didn't spend a couple hundred dollars on something of roughly the same quality, like many of us here did (myself included). So glad you found the site before you made that mistake! Don't get me wrong, you can spend $200 and get great stuff, but there are companies out there that will take your $200 and give you what you bought for $20...

Take a look around. You should find all the info you need and more. If you have any direct questions, feel free to pm me... I'm always happy to help when I can.

I spent LOTS of time here reading the first couple of weeks. Read and vape, read and vape, read and vape. I learned a lot, and everyone's questions and stories were very helpful to keep me motivated. It also helped me break the smoking and reading connection, and to create a new habit: reading and vaping.

Find lolady's thread here in the New Members forum, get your favorite flavor, and vape while you read through that whole thing. It's fun, funny, heartwarming, and highly informative.

Hello Juicy! Welcome and congrats on your success so far! There is a lot to take in and there is an ever growing inventory of E-cig related gadgetry available. Just keep reading and asking questions. This hobby really is a "try it for yourself" kind of deal. What is one persons best may not be another's cup of tea. I think the trickiest part is finding a flavor that you love.

Ah, it's a battery that you can use while it's connected to your computer's USB port, so you can vape while it's charging...

My favorite:

Genuine Joye 1000mAh XL eGo Battery w/USB (510, passthrough) - The VaporCast Store

Never ordered from these guys (despite their good reputation). This is the only thing they have that I want, and it's a great price, but they're always out... Just using it for illustrative purposes...

ok, i have to ask, whats a passthru ? ? ?

lol.

LOL calls it a Hooka-Doodle. It plugs into a USB port and has a connector for the atomizer or cartomizer and usually a button. Some have a battery in line and the USB charges the battery and the battery powers the vape and this type is safe to plug into your computer. Some do not have a battery in line and, while they work the same but with a bit more voltage, this type is not safe to plug into your computer and a AC-to-USB adapter should be used.
