I have been lurking around ECF for the last few weeks and thought it was time I introduced myself. I have smoked a pack day for the past 24 years. After a few health scares and at the urging of my doctor I decided to try e-cig. I went by my local cigarette store and picked up an ego starter kit for $30. For the first week I was still smoking around 1/2 pack a day and the second week I smoked 10 cigs the entire week. I haven't had a analog in three days now and that is a huge accomplishment for. In the past I had tried at least 12 times to stop smoking and nothing seemed to work. I had tried the gum, patches, cold turkey, and the nicotrol inhaler. For the first time I feel like this is going to work for me.

Welcome to ECF. Congrats on making it 3 days! I know how elated I was when I hit that mark, it's a great accomplishment.

I too would recommend a counter for your posts, this way you have some visible positive feedback on your progress. If you are like me, you won't want one that counts money saved, because you will end up spending it on your new habit (hobby? obsession?) ...

It really is a good feeling. I don't believe I have ever made it 3 days without a cig. Usually by the second day I would become a complete monster.

I'm exactly the same way. I'm 3.5 days in and I still can't believe I haven't tried to kill anyone. But vaping takes out all the stress and suffering. An anology I used for a coworker is that it's like I quit drinking beer and started drinking wine instead.
