Hi guys,

I've been a longtime lurker here, I've tried to watch and read and gather the wisdom of the more advanced vapers here. I appreciate the ECF community's knowledge. I've been vaping for about 6 months or so, and I absolutely love it. I'm another successful escapee from the chains of the analog.

To understand my question, I'd like to give a short description of my current setup. I use V2 batteries (I believe they are the KR808d-1 threaded, if I'm not mistaken) I use a mixture of the V2 liquimax tanks and the Volt CE3 bottom coil tanks at smokeless image). While this system worked great for me as a beginner, I think I'm outgrowing it.

I'd like to switch over to something that has a bit more of a robust vape, and possibly a longer lasting battery. I've been looking at the ego-c a little and I like what I see there, but I'd like to be able to use a clear tank with it that doesn't leak. I don't want something as fat as silver bullet, and at the same time, I'm past the phase of wanting these slim little batteries.

In short, can anyone recommend a solid set up for me that meets the long-winded descriptions I've listed above? My overall concern is reliability, vapor production, non-leaking, and battery life rather than price. I'm looking for a starter kit and the tank as well.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated, and I thank you for taking your time to look at this and help me out :)

I would go with an eGo-twist or a Vision Spinner. The size depends on mAh and that depends on how long the device would be to your liking. I would go with a simple tank with a punched carto as it is close to what you are using and it is leak free. A clearomizer of some sort seems to work well also.
A lot of eGo-twist/Vision Spinner kits come with a clearomizer or two.
If you decide to go with a bigger battery setup, I would suggest a Vamo to see if you like upping things as it is the lowest price mod out there with the most features.
This is coming from a 3 year veteran of ecigs that uses primarily a Provari with carto tanks, dripping attys and a ZAP.

So I see this : AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo-C Joye Starter Kit

Which looks good to me. But I'm confused about the atomizer base and cover. If I bought a carto tank for this system, does the carto tank replace these two parts? for example a CE3 bottom coil for the EGO twist?

djumv - Are you willing to make your own coil and wick assemblies? There are many cartos / attys that provide good service.

PS I'm just west of you in Lexington.

I don't feel comfortable enough in my knowledge to make my own coil and wick assemblies.

We should start a club, there are tons of vapers in central KY :) Go CATS!

Thank you both for your assistance, as well, I appreciate it :)

djumv, the kit in your link is for the eGo-C kit without the VV Twist batteries. Yes, you can unscrew the whole top end and put any 510 or eGo tank/carto/atty on it. That is what I started with and used for a couple of months. I learned how to clean the atomizers and that I had to do it every 5-8 tankfuls (depending on juice) or I would lose the atomizer and have to put in a new one at around $5 each. A lot of people seem to have had problems with them and did not like them. I only use those batteries now when I don't have a Twist ready to go. VV is a very nice feature.

I googled and found this kit from My Freedom Smokes. It has 2 Twist batteries, a Vivi Nova tank with 5 replaceable heads and all the other bits and pieces you'll need. I don't know if their price is the best you can get, but I suspect that unless you found a sale on somewhere it would be hard to beat by much. If I were up-grading today from what you have now I would buy this.

I agree with bigsmke. Love the Twist and I mostly use the Vivi Nova Mini (2ml). You may also want to buy a ego-thread-cover-ego-to-510-adapter for the looks (the Vivi's screw into the chargeing threads instead of the outer threads and the adapter covers the open space). I also got my stuff from My Freedom Smokes and everything arrived quickly and in perfect shape. However, I bought all the parts seperatly instead of in the kit, and for some reason it was cheaper. I have also heard good things about the Kanger T2 tanks and I think I'll give them a try next.

I just moved up from my volts, and the advice given here seems dead on. I would encourage you to get something variable voltage along with them. It steps up the quality quite a bit in my opinion. You'll be surprised at some of the flavor and amount of vapor you can produce with a little more voltage.

I would also encourage you to get some adapters to help you transition. That way you can still use your old cartos, ce3's etc. on the new device. I am doing this with half of my stuff right now and it kept me from having to by a new arsenal overnight (for only a few bucks).

As stated earlier. I would not go the eGo-C route. For price, you are not going to find much better than this. Steam Monkey Twist kit. One kit, then I would probably purchase a second battery and you would be good. That is not a tank system but if you were using KR808's to begin with you already know how to work the cartos. You could get a tank for the cartos later and just punch a hole or dremel a slot in them and put the tank over the cartos and you would have an all day, no issues setup.

Very good info! I'm new to vaping as well. I started off with the V2 and just ordered Volt X2 batteries to step up a tad more. I've been eyeing the twists as I've read a lot of good reviews on them. I was in Tasty Vapor the other day and saw the Smok Woo. They really love it there and that might be my next upgrade. The batteries scare me though.

I ended up with an ego-C Twist 1000 mAh for vaping at lunch and driving to/from work. I top it with the following: 510 Nano clearomizer (iffy construction, shying away from these), a Vision Clearomizer v3 CE4 long wicks (trying this out, so far working stellar, holds 1.6 mls), and also a Smok Tech Cartomizer XL (been working stellar for a week so far).

I use a ego-C 650 mAh not a twist version for stealth vaping at home or on the go with the familiy.

The 1000 mAh twist has awesome battery life. I am a light to medium vaper and the 1000 mAh has lasted me 4 days before needing a recharge.

I did not buy a kit as I did not want those tanks that come with the kit (heard bad things about them leaking), so I bought everything seperately.

At this point I am very pleased with my set up.

So I took in some of the advice here and did a little bit more research and nailed down exactly what I wanted to try out.

I'm going with 2 1100mah ego twists (one for the crib, one for the office), and 1 650mah ego twist (for the car/spare). This might be excessive, and that's fine because ~$25 is much better than finding myself without the loving arms of my ice menthol.

For tanks I'm actually going to try 2 of them. The vivi nova, and the kanger t3. Whichever one I like best, I'll order more of. I might also get down on some of those adapters that Rellen13 was talking about.

I would do the carto tap to tank conversion, but to be honest, with what I've looked at I'm well within my intended budget on this upgrade and it's unfortunate, but my wife is of the belief that ecigs are somehow as dangerous as analogs even though I've explained to her that she consumes the same ingredients on a daily basis sans nicotine.

Let her know that three of the biggest issues you will be cutting out is Tar, Carbon Dioxide and combustible smoke. That alone is harm reduction, not to mention all the extra chemicals BT puts in to make them so much more addictive. Not that she will listen but it is always good to mention, lol.

I'll try to start mentioning that. I think maybe she takes the FDA at face value, which is what her problem is. I won't dive too deep into my conspiracy theories here, but I've told her in so many words that the FDA's assessment is untrustworthy at best.

Again, thanks for everyone's help, it's much appreciated.
