Hi,
I decided to try eCigs and ended up with a Blu kit. I smoke like a pack a day and am one of those throat hit, release smokers. I cant stand that FSC chemical they put in them now and it makes me sick and not to mention the price of analogs now is just stupid. So I made the switch to electronic.

I got my Blu kit in today. (Ordered it last wednesday so I guess that wasnt too bad for shipping time considering what Ive read about them). I had lurked here a bit and read about removing some of the foil on the carts. I did that and now get juice at the end of the cig half the time when I take a draw. Also this thing is way too inconsistent. Half the time I wont get smoke and a throat hit and then suddenly I get tons of smoke and end up coughing from the throat hit...

Also.. the flavor/ taste of the carts is beyond words to describe how NASTY it is to me.. Its making me sick. I got an instant headache trying the menthol. The Java got on my nerves after a few minutes. The plain tobacco is just plain nasty. Im not even going to go into how bad the vanilla was and I refuse to try any of the other flavors after how bad the others were.. and yea I feel completely ripped off regarding the carts in this kit.

So now everything smells like Blus tobacco/java. Everything tastes like that. I cant get the smell/taste out of my body. Its horrible. Im back on analogs for now.

I have a very limited income and I am not happy. I could have bought a carton of smokes (305s) and then some for what this kit cost me. So now Im going to have to place another order somewhere tonight for some more carts or something. I simply can not use this eCig with the disgusting carts that came with it.

But here it gets confusing. Ive read so much here on what to do.. make your own, get preloaded.. swap out parts.. etc etc.. I have no idea.. help? I want something that taste like a real cig and something that will even out the very inconsistent vapor/throat hit Im getting off this thing.

Thanks in advance

To me it sounds like you are not very happy with your blu. I believe you have 30 days to return it. If you do decide to keep it, I can offer you some tips. For juice you can try vaporbomb, tastyvapors or mrs.t bakery. For your carts you can use the blue foam mod, just make sure it's the marine land stuff. You can also use a 306a atty and carts if you want to try another atty. I've also heard good things about volcano attys. 510 attys also fit the blu but they are wider in diameter. I personally started off with a blu, then went to a 510, now i have an ego with a 510 lr atty and I'm in heaven. any questions you have about the blu I can surely answer for you.

the blue foam that is successful.

I started with Blu 3 weeks ago, first 3-5 hits are great then the thick atty needs to re-saturate. the carts do suck. need to order you own juice and fill. go to tasty vapor, you can also order a cheap ego and use it. i want from blu to 510 from Tasty Vapor then ego now. Wish i would have just done ego. longer batt, more pwer for TH and Vape.
I use the Blu still for stealth vaping. order some juice, cut off hald of the filler. refill cart and put filler on top. huge diff and much better, batt life is still short but can recharge on the go, also great for hands free vaping. i use the 510 for lounging and driving when ego is charging, just ordered 4 more egos for me and my son so wont have that prob anymore. dont give up. the money i spent to start was a little more than expected but still cheaper then real cigs. was spending 120-150 a month on cigs, smoking for 28 years and now free. i never wanted to quit and this makes everyone a winner, my wife kisses me on lips again anytime. lol. i should see my greand daughter grow up and i will save a ton of money. 58 for blue, 15 for 510 through tasty and 60 on egos now, and 30 on juice, prob 20-30 a month on juices and some periodic replacement parts, thats 155 bucks so a 1.25 month investment 100% and now about 80-100 bucks a month savings. well worth it.
Bottom line, keep the Blu if too late to return, im still happy with mine now that i juice it, but get the ego through Tassty Vapor to atleast try, think you will be very happy.
Good luck and
Keep Vaping
John

I started with a Blu, in fact it's still sitting on my kitchen table right now. While i had my Blu, i learned how to fill carts. And it made the experience with it a lot better.

You can order just the liquid online from many reputable vendors, although i suggest Tasty Vapor.

From there I decided to get a 901, although most here would suggest a 501. I don't claim to know the difference, my 901 works fine, and everyone seems to think the 501 does also.

There is a lot of information to browse through here, and i suggest you first start with how to refill carts. And read reviews of reputable vendors of pre made liquid.

After filling your blu carts with liquid that doesn't suck, i would suggest research of what device you would like to use. And the mixing of your own liquid, this should put you pretty much up to date...

The blu is a starter kit, and it works as one.

Good Luck!

Bob

Thanks a lot for the replies!

No, actually I like the Blu. Its neat. I just cant stand the horrid tasting carts in it. I figure the inconsistency in the vaper/ throat hit will work out in time maybe but *shudder* man the taste of those carts...

As of right now I dont really want to deal with refilling carts. Im very much a n00b and just dont want the hassle right now. And I really dont have the money to buy another model. I have looked at the 501 and the 901s.. the pencil ones and stuff. I am a 100 smoker so the longer pencil eCigs are way more up my alley then the short sized Blu (though it doesnt really bother me) but I dont want to have to press a button every time I want a hit off my smoke. I definitely prefer the automatics.

I am at Volcano eCigs right now and have a couple of their atts and some of their plain tobacco carts in the shopping cart, just havent finished the purchase. Would those be better than what Ive got right now? I think for right now I wanna just find a good cart to be able to better experience the eCig and decide if its for me. (instead of going through all the hassle of getting the juice and refilling and so on at least for right now) before I set about learning how to refill the carts myself and getting the stuff to do it.

I've heard good things about volcano, so it's up to you, but sometimes you save money in the long run going with a different ecig. I personally wish I went straight to the ego.

Also so you know, the auto batts are nice, but they do turn on with vibrations (noise) and wind.
As you can see you can get a lot of help here.

Automatic battys do fire off on their own more and more as they get older (2-3 months) and one time I had one fire off and it did not stop, had to unscrew the atty. Manual (button) E-cigs are much better, you control how long you inhale and it won’t fire off unless the button is pressed. I started with 510 e-cigs and also have an adapter for the 901. Personally I think 510 is just a tiny bit better cause it seems to produce more vapor.

All this aside, I learned how to build my own 5 volt mod box on this forum for my 510 attys and never looked back. Great vapor and flavor, batteries last all day and even switched to refillable carts cause they hold more liquid.

Think about building your own mod box and you will never have to buy one.

PS: have not found any juice which will taste like a real Marlboro.

Yeah, some of the juice out there is horrifying :-/ I haven't found a "tobacco" flavor yet that isn't disgusting, and I've got about a dozen from various places laying around here.

I started with a 510 and just got an eGo -- the biggest problem so far has been bad atomizers that keep a nasty burnt taste no matter what I try to fix them, so be aware of that. If the burnt plastic flavor that stings like hell doesn't go away after trying all the usual methods, best to just call it a loss and move on to another one -- I finally got a good one, its taste cleared up within half a dozen primer puffs.

I've been just dripping the last few days and it's been working really well, even though it took some trial and error to get the amount and when to re-drip down. With that you don't have any filler in the cartridge/mouthpiece, and you just pull that off and put a few drops directly on the arched metal piece sticking up from the atty. There's how-tos in a few places on the forum here.

Bert!!!! Thanks so much for the picture!! I was just at Vapor Kings looking at the 510. I have read nothing but good about them it seems everywhere Ive looked here. I love the size of it too. The Ego looks really huge hehe.

I also just read some of the 'buying and using electronic cigarettes; a primer' sticky. Pulled out my Blu and worked a bit on /how/ I took a drag off of it thanks to some suggestions on that thread. Its working much better. The throat hit is still not that good, well I mean it is sometimes but its a /different/ kind of throat hit. I also think part of the problem is getting used to the PG. Its drying my throat and (giving me a headache again) seems (least to me) to have a bit of a taste of its own and its annoying to me a bit. The PG is effecting the 'texture' of the throat hit and feel of the vapor to me if that makes any sense. Could also be because of these crappy flavored carts too hehe. But it just seems Im getting crappy flavor with something /else/ in the taste when I take a hit...

And sad to hear that there doesnt seem to be a good plain tobacco flavored cart out there. Im not sure I really would enjoy smoking a flavored cig all the time. Maybe Ive gotten suddenly 'gunshy' because of the horrific experiences Ive had with Blu's flavored carts my first time at it. I love vanilla but man, after 1 hit, I could get that cart off fast enough!

It's actually not too huge! About half again as wide as the 510. Around the size of a small cigar. I was a bit worried about that too but it's really quite nice and the much, much better battery life is totally worth the extra size, for me at least :)

PG cuts up my throat and sometimes makes me cough; all VG or max of 20% PG is working a lot better for me. It's something to try...

I found a couple reviews of Alien Visions's Marly flavor that were very encouraging! but it was pulled down -- I am guessing that the "C and D" flavor that replaced it is the same stuff renamed, so I'm going to order that and will let you know my thoughts, if you want?

I had the blu only a short time and found out it works great when you "dip" the atomizer bridge "v" into a liquid of your choice. Look into the Magma from volcano. It's the same thing as a 510. The 510 is a model made by Joye and is rebranded for sale all over the net i.e. Wicked Titan. I bought the Magma because they have a great PCC (personal charging case). I also found out that carts suck period. I have been using a cartomizer. What the cartomizer is....is the atomizer and cartridge all in one. You can fill the cartomizer with approx 25-30 drops and be set for at least half the day. litecigusa carry's them as well as a few other sites. When sitting directly at my computer I use a usb passthrough and direct drip using a reg atomizer and the cartomizers are for when I'm on the go. Read up and learn what all these terms mean. Trust me, and many others that have done the same....if your within 30 days of having the blu send it back and pick yourself up a model of the 510. You'll be very happy you did. Good luck!

sanmartin -- yes if you find a cart that does taste more like cig tobacco let me know.

I do know Im calling Blu tomorrow and sending this thing back. I cant shake the taste/aftertaste of these carts. I dont know what it is but its really revolting to me. I shudder to think how Im going to feel when I finally go to sleep and then wake up later today. When I had the Blu out a bit ago and was practicing taking a hit of it *shudder* that taste/aftertaste/feel just wont go away. Its actually got me sickish feeling. And its like coming in waves. I hope other brands of carts arent like this. If they are Im not sure Im going to be able to handle an eCig simply because of that.

And yea, it chased me back to analogs. And it sad cause ever since they snuck in that FSC chemical, cigs are outright nasty now. But they are better then those Blu carts... bluuh *shudder*

Well, I dared a couple of hits off the Blu a bit ago. Instant headache. The taste as usual was horrible and just dry and very artificial, if that makes any sense. So I went to Blu to print the form to send it back but then got to thinking about it. Analogs really arent good for you...and this FSC chem they put in them now is really nasty. I need to quit for my health (doesnt everyone?) and if nothing else the sheer cost of it. But I do like the motions of smoking. My plan was to get an eCig and wean myself off the nic and then just enjoy the 'smoking' part of it *0 nic carts*

Was talking with a friend of mine a bit ago. He suggested I give the thing a week or so. so, for whatever reason I grabbed one of the cherry flavored carts and tried that. I took a hit and it was ok... I was surprised. There was no throat hit but no harshness or dryness or anything to it... thats because I /didnt/ take the foil off like I had read here of people suggesting to do for a better throat hit. mmmmmmm so, I swapped it out for a reg tobacco and didnt take the foil off. And it actually tastes a lot better, just no throat hit. I can live with (and get used to it) that to be honest over this horrid taste and icky feeling I was getting with the foil off the carts.

I have noticed though with the attys, they pic up the flavor of other carts so now my tobacco has a java, cherry overtone to it >_> LOL it sounds a lot worse then it tastes. LOL

So ok, for me NOT taking the foil off is a good thing. I think I will get some new attys and plain tobacco carts from Volcano today and I also found a site that sells a Joye510 no frills kit for like $13 O_O its just the cig (battery ect), charger, carts in a white box with nothing else.

For a smaller investment, and a more enjoyable experience..

Get some SLB 510 Soft Cap Cartomizers and a couple bottles of juice.
They WILL work on your Blu Batteries.
They are Easy to fill
They give MUCH more consistent vapor.

Using the 510 Cartomizers on your Blu batteries will pretty much give you the experience of the 510.
Many vendors sell these, but I get mine from Litecigusa.net

don't give up, it's worth it.
