Hi all,
I am new to e-cigs and new to the forum, but it has already helped me with finding new vendors and many tips, so thank you to everyone that makes this forum as robust and helpful as it is. I do have a question, though.

I just purchased an Aspire Premium Kit, with the nautilus Mini and the CF VV battery. I scratched off the security code and entered it in the Aspire website, and was informed that it was a genuine unit. My question is, does Aspire shrink wrap any of their products? My starter kit had no shrink wrapping, and the cynic in me questions whether the security code does anything but ensure the authenticity of the outer sleeve. Should my starter kit have come shrink wrapped? Is mine a legitimate concern, or paranoia? It seems that manufacturers go to great lengths to ensure authenticity of their products, it would be a shame if it were this easy to circumvent. I hope I'm wrong. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome!

I'm trying to remember all of the Aspire products I have and I don't think any of them were shrink wrapped. If you got it from a reputable vendor, I wouldn't worry about it.

ETA: You will often receive products that aren't shrink wrapped, especially if you buy less than how something is packaged by the manufacturer (for example 4 replacement heads, when they come in packs of 5). The cost of the device is irrelevant. The ProVari isn't shrink wrapped and only recently started coming in a presentation box. It used to come wrapped in bubble wrap in a Priority Mail box.

That is one of the really weird things about that kit... There is absolutely no protection ensuring that you are the first one to open it. The truth is, though, I don't know if there would be a shop out there who would go through the bother of buying both.

I don't think it was an Aspire kit, but there was one that a couple of vendors actually opened before they sent it out, since they had received some that were incomplete and were checking to see if all the parts were included.

Hi and welcome to ECF!

I have an Aspire Mini that I bought at a local vape shop, and it didn't come with any shrink wrap. I know that's not much to go by, since the store could have removed the shrink wrap, but I know the folks there, and have bought other items from them that did have shrink wrapping.

As a matter of fact, my first starter kit (a much cheaper kit) also was purchased at a different vape shop, and didn't have shrink wrap.

Where did you purchase your kit from? If it was a well-known supplier, I'd hazard a guess that you have nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I've inventoried in a LOT of Aspire products - the closest they come to tamper-proof packing is the Atlantis, CF MOD, and CF Sub-Ohm battery. It does set up a very good question for Aspire - the verification code is great and all, but there is absolutely NO protection around authentic box/knock off gear inside.
Does the shop you got the kit from have a pretty good reputation, overall?

Thanks everyone for your feedback. It sounds like my packaging is not unusual, however, I still see a significant flaw in assuming that a verified box slide cover is equivalent to merchandise inside the box. I do have another question, I used to smoke light cigarettes and currently vaping a 50/50 9mg tobacco juice. Is my understanding roughly right that throat hit and taste are inversely correlated? From what I have gathered through the various videos and websites, the following variables can increase throat hit: less air flow (smaller air hole), higher voltage, higher concentration of PG, higher nicotine content solution. Do I have this correct, and is there anything else that I can do to increase the throat hit? Thanks in advance.

Thank you everyone for your help and feedback. I just received a response from Aspire regarding this inquiry, which I have pasted below. Short story, you guys were right, no shrink wrapping, and buy from a trusted, authorized dealer. Thanks again. And, oh yeah, I am loving the Nautilus Mini.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for supporting aspire!
Here is a link to tell us how to confirm the kit is fake or not: [They included a URL, but I am not allowed to post links.]
Security code,3D sticker,paperboard inside packaging.
It is possible that the boxes can be opened and the authentic product replaced with fakes
So we suggest our customers to buy our products from us directly or from our authorized sellers, avoid the fake products.

Have a nice day!
