i have yet to use any type of alternative smoking products. the main reason i want to try this is because i am going on a road trip with my nonsmoking friend in her nonsmoking car. i need some suggestions on the best place to order cigs for beginners. nothing fancy. something i can charge in the car, odorless (which i think they all are? not positive), preferably has the option of levels of nicotine. enough to get me through a pack or two. doesnt need to be flavored. i leave on may 11th so any product i can receive before then. any help would be absolutely appreciated! thank you!

Yeah easiest for in a car would be prefilled cartomizers. But they don't sell unflavored cartomizers as far as I know. So you don't have to learn to add juice yet, check vapor4Life and get a standard kit, buy extra cartomizers (you could go through multiple cartomizers in one day if you are not adding juice), and get a car charger and an AC charger (and the battery charger cable).

I vape in the car with my non-smoker fiance and the tobacco vapes bother him. He is OK with WOW vanilla and seems ok with the WOWbacco (a very cocoa tobacco, or WOWboy which is the same with some mint added).

You better get it shipped by fastest method and cross your fingers it arrives in time. Order some ejuice there too so you can try adding juice to cartos and bring a small unbent paper clip and tissues for doing that.

A standard battery will last 3-5 hours. If you want much longer battery life you would need to go with something like LeCig's PigCig (fat model that uses the same kind of cartomzers - they probably have filled D1 aka KR808D-1 cartos there too?)

How long is the road trip?
How much time will you be spending in the car?
How much of what did you currently smoke?

EDIT: Oh, wait, you leave on May 11th?
EDIT: By then you probably won't want cigarettes anymore.
EDIT:

So then really, the main question is how much of what do you currently smoke?

i dont smoke everyday. i do on trips, etc. normally i take my car.

i smoke marlboro light reg or 100s

i can have about a pack a day

ill be in the car at least 46 hours, but ill only be smoking or whatever when im driving at night. keeps me focused when im getting tired.

you should have plenty of time to get them by the time you leave. I'm in VA and V4L is in Illinois and I usually get them in 3 days. Some of the flavors give off a slight odor depending on the flavoring used. Desert flavors like caramel and butterscotch tend to have an aroma, as do some strong fruit flavors like watermelon. However, unless you're blowing massive clouds of vapor in the car, most likely it wouldn't bother your friend.

For a pack a day habit, you'll probably go through 2-3 cartos a day so I'd buy a few. They have sample packs to try different flavors. If you get them now, you'll have time to find out what your favorites and are should have a chance to not only get used to vaping, but learn how long the batteries will last, etc so you'll be prepared for the trip.

I'd get a variety of strengths from 11-24mg so you can see what's most comfortable for you.

Good luck and feel free to ask any other questions.

Hi kelly2711. I'm a noob too - just joined today.
In my opinion, I would hit up the local Pilot Travel Center and snag a Starter Kit for NJOY. Get the 'NPRO' - at least the ones here don't sell the older versions of their e-cig.
That is about $59, and you could also get the 'el cheapo' Mini-Starter Kit - that is $20 for that. This way, you'll have several cartos, 2 complete e-cigs, a wall charger and 2 USB chargers. Then go grab a car charger that has a USB connector on it and you're set. If you're worried about running out of cartos, then you can also get a 5-pack of them for another $20 at Pilot.
Then hit up the local smoke shop - call them first to see if they carry the stuff - and get a small bottle of e-juice. See if you can get a syringe so you can put it in the small hole in the carto so you can refill it when the vapour begins to lessen (generally around 10 or so hours later).
You most likely will NOT want to go back to smoking analogs after your trip! Seriously.
I am not plugging NJOY or Pilot Travel Centers, but have found after vaping 3 different brands of e-cigs, that the NJOY NPRO is so easy to work with, it gives a lot of vapour, and it's very easy to refill. I am only sharing with you what has worked best for me so far.
I wish you the very best with this and hope you stop smoking for good!
Peace, out. (AMD)

I have been quit for 3 Weeks, 14 hours, 14 minutes and 46 seconds (21 days). I have saved $97.16 by not smoking 647 cigarettes. I have saved 2 Days, 5 hours and 55 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 2/14/2011 8:06 AM

When we say you can smell it, what we mean it that you can smell it, but it's an even lighter scent than a donut or a cup of tea. It's not an odor and most people will find many of the scents very pleasant, even non-smokers.

and im confused when you say "tobacco" i thought these were just nicotine?

Yes, nicotine (not tobacco product) but they do have some flavors that are supposed to taste like tobacco cigs - we find they more often taste like kettle corn or maple or chocolate or something indescribable, not really like a lighted cigarette more like what a freshly opened pack smells like.

I'm sorry I have to disagree, the battery life combined with a long road trip and no charger would be a fail.

IMO, your best bet might be a kr808d-1 kit with a car adapter for the passthrough.

good luck!

Hey Kelly, welcome to ECF from one newbie to another! I started about a month ago and find that I vape way more than I smoked (granted, I have a lot of 0mg juice), and I've noticed a few other folks make similar comments. So you might want to consider that as well. Agreed that it sounds like you'll need a passthrough w. car adapter. Or if you have a USB charger in your car (my car phone charger has an extra USB port) and your kit comes with a USB charger for your battery, you'd probably be okay keeping one charging and one for vaping if you get something with decent battery life. Passthrough would be safest, though.

That's only if you buy from those flashy websites that sell over-priced entry level models.
If you buy from any of the vendors registered on this forum, you'll probably get your order in around 3 days.
