New to forum, have a quick question?

Got to admit, I've been doing allot of reading on this forum and as of yet have not contributed. Sounds like allot of great people out there. This is my first step in getting involved in a community that sounds like one big family. Well at least we all share the same interest!

It is time to move on from my cigarette style ecig and try my hands at modding. I, for now, have one quick question. I have a couple old computers that I was going to pitch, until I started reading about modding! Can anyone tell me if there are any electronic parts that I could salvage and use in mods?

I have a few great Ideas, I just need to start getting parts together.

David-

Depending on how far you want to go into modding there's lots of fun bits to collect out of old PCs. Personally I'd snag any extra wiring, connectors and LEDs to start with. Depending on your soldering skills you can also liberate capacitors and/or resistors off old mobos. I'd also recommend snagging the USB ports out of them if possible.

Like Strigoi mentioned you can also make PT's out of some old power supplies. Depending on the model I know there's some that require signal from the mobo to fully power up but its always worth saving them just to try out.

On top of that snag out the old GPU (if it isn't onboard) as well as the old RAM and e-bay them. You'd be surprised what old RAM goes for.
